  • Time to get steamed! It’s safe to say that if you grew up on the eastern shore you more than likely visited the Tuckahoe Steam and Gas Museum. This year marks the events 50th anniversary and on this episode, Joanne Clendining visits the 60 acres dedicated to the evolution of farm life and horsepower; from horse drawn grain threshers, to steam tractors and all the way to gas powered electrical dynamos. Joanne’s first stop is the farm life museum. A massive building housing what could be the largest collection of Thingamajigs this side of the bay. They have everything from French bean cutters to egg candles to a butter churner powered by man's best friend. It’s such a great collection that Joanne finds the episodes Thingamajig within. From Thingamajigs Joanne meets up with Eric Harvey who gives her a hands-on history of grain threshing - from horse, to steam, to 40 ft draper heads on today's modern combines. At the end of the day, Joanne jumps on a hot steam tractor and takes part in the events finale - the annual parade of tractors - great and small.
