im surprised the saratoga hasn't tried to kill everything else in the tank, they are very territorial. a mate of mine has a saratoga by itself in an 8x2x2.5, he couldnt get anything else to live with it. its turning 24 this year
Yeah he had a massive scrap with my oscar just recently and bit off most of his tail, toga got a bit beat up too so I had to get rid of the oscar, Toga seems fine now but the peacock bass and Barra are really having a power struggle. Wow 24, would be awesome to keep a fish that long, mines only about 4 years old but already huge.
Thanks, I was using a chepo 2500lph external, but wasn't doing the job and eventually broke down. I now have a fluval fx5 does 3500lph and a few internals keep the tank quite clean so long as I do weekly 50% water change.
He, eats once a day, a nice handful of Hikari pellets daily, and live food from time to time. He'll pretty much eat anything. When he was new it took him a while to eat and settle in.
thanks man! you just answered my question! today i just bought 2 barramundi and when they get big enough theyre being transferred into a fish pool that has nothing in it, theyll be the first in. i was wondernig if you can put a jardini saratoga in with them, and this vid just answered that question! sick tank!
The Polleni was the worst, thats why I got rid of him, otherwise no real dramas a few fights for dominance but nothing bad. I tried pilchards, only the scats went for them they'll eat anything, the others are a bit picky will only take Hikari pellets and aussie brine shrimp and of course any type of feeders.
Does the Scat do alright in Freshwater? Is it a freshwater tank? I would like to put my Red Scat and Green Scat (and possibly Mono Sebae) into a freshwater tank, but I'm not sure if it will work... Any ideas?
@tasteslikechicken76 Thanks mate, at the timethere was just a bit of conflict, but now the tank is bare, just the toga and plecos left, the toga pretty must smahed the oscar and barra, i had to get rid of them. If your in qld you can get a barra at just about any aquarium store, or try petlink.com for around Australia.

I miss my barramundi :(
They did fine when they were younger, but i think as they get older they prefer brackish water.
