- Even though I'm not an early 90's kid, I decided to make a video that maybe you people can decide which era is better. Do you like the attitude era (Late 90's until Early 2002) or, do you like the PG era (Early 2008 until today)? Here's a video that shows the differences between both eras. I don't own anything. All rights go to WWE Inc.
And one thing i will never forget about the attitude era: better commentators!!!! J.R with jerry the king lawler were the best commentators in history!

I'm 19 years old and i started to watch WWE in mid 2005 and i miss very much those times! 2005-06-07-08 were so different than today's days... And if you think, many greats wwe superstars left WWE when the PG Era started! I continue to watch WWE but it's not the same... I would give almost everything to have that back...

Short Rant: Did you really compare ECW to NXT? NXT is not at all PG and is currently WWE's best product, while it will NEVER EVER be ECW, you just can't compare them, that is completely unfair to the both of them.
Actual Rant: Anyway, as I am OCD, it is a gripe of mine for people to still say "PG Era (WWE called it the Universe)", when quite frankly we are in a new era now (rumored to be the Future Era), it really doesn't have a name. But WWE as a whole is in a way better spot than it was in mid 2012 - fall 2013 (until the end of the year). You can not at all deny this. At that same time, from October 2013, up until 2 - 3 months ago, TNA was complete shit, ROH was tripping (management) and I was only really watching WWE's PPV's only, NXT, NJPW and AAA. Now I am a huge wrestling fan and I do find it offensive when people speak but, have no knowledge of what they are speaking about. So before you go keyboard warrior mode on me, get your facts straight first.
I know your comment is a month old but no one responded so I want to. First of all how old are you? Second of all: Are you saying that the wrestling on tv now is still good (NXT is good mind you but RAW is still garbage)? My third question will relate to your age once you answer.
Well I just turned 23 as of today.. To your second question, I wouldn't go all out and say that it is still good because it can be way better than it is now, but has poor management of the current talent pools. Raw in 2014 was better than Raw from 2008 - 2012 by a long shot imo. While it did pick up in 2011, was slow in 2012, 2013 & 2014 are arguably WWE's best years in the past 7 years.
***** I disagree. I stopped watching in 2010 and have been off and on...hoping it would return to normal. It never will though. WWE is dead unfortunately. My third question is irrelevant btw because you should be old enough to have at least watched some of the great matches of the 90s....not just the attitude era. Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon's two ladder matches are better than anything WWE has done since 2002 lol. The only Raw I really liked this year was the year ending Raw.
Yes I have seen so many matches I can highlight many of the best ones. 2005 Shawn Michales vs Shelton Benjamin is my personal favorite.2010 was a horrible year, I didn't watch WWE from 2007 (after Benoit's Death) - 2011 (until mid-year), so that period is blank to me. Well I did catch up watching many vids, but yeah, I wish I had not, over 700 hours of my life wasted :(. Nothing will ever be as good as A.E., but the RE wasn't bad. I'm just being optimistic since NXT is really good right now and makes me feel that the future of Raw & SD are in their hands when they move up to Main roster. I pray they don't get Zack Ryder'd....

The Attitude era, beyond any question or doubt. However, as further clarification, the second half of Attitude was the absolute best, after Russo left and the brilliant (now also sadly late) Chris Kreski became head writer. Austin vs. McMahon was the greatest storyline of the era, no debating that, but the Kreski-led period just after it toned down the adult content ever-so-slightly yet kept the show very edgy, which gave way to better quality matches and fluid storylines the likes of which wrestling in any federation or era has not seen before or since. So basically, October 1999-November 2001 was THE absolute greatest period.
I love to watch some stuff from the Attitude Era but women's wrestling was horrible, I'm thankful that nowadays de can have awesome female fighters not only on WWE.

I actually dont follow wrestling anymore OR watched it during the Attitude Era. I was a wrestling-fan on two other separate occasions, first when I was a kid during the Monday Night Wars in the mid 90s, and then again when my interest was rekindled during the Ruthless Agression Era. So I completely missed out on what people consider to be the most hardcore era of all. ^^

I guess we'll all just ignore the fact that the WWF before the attitude era was PG and no one ever talks crap about it. It's hardly ever even brought up in a debate when it comes which era is the best. It doesn't make you a true WWE fan if you watched the attitude era then bailed after 2006. A true fan will watch WWE no matter what. A true fan won't compare current WWE to the attitude era and say the AE was better. You can say that and form your opinion but there no real need to go around saying your era is better and the true fans know it. You want to see some true fans? Go like The Shield - WWE Universe on Facebook and it's a fan page of true WWE fans and at one point one of the admins stated that he would rather watch a PG Era match over an attitude or golden era match any day.
Thank you for this post. I dont even think people are overly nostalgic anymore, i think they are just ignorant. The product WWE has been putting out since SummerSlam 2013 has been amazing in my opinion. In my opinion as well, promotions like ECW and other hardcore wrestling promotions ruined wrestling. It took away the talent side of it and just made fans want to see blood and weapons used every match.

But the PG era before the Attitude era had great characters. You had Brett Hart, Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Jake the Snake Roberts, Ted Dibose, Macho Man Randy Savage and more. The matches were good and they had good storylines. Not hokey dancing shit. Then you got the attitude era which really launched stuff with Stone Cold vs Mr.McMahon, The Rock has a billion times more charisma than Cena could ever hope on having, Cactus Jack vs HHH were awesome matches, DX was unpredictable, hell the whole show couldn't be predicted because something was always happening. Now they got noone worth watching, and I mean NOONE. Total junk now, no good storylines, no good wrestlers, they got nothing compared to the likes of Stone Cold, Hulk Hogan, Brett Hart, The Rock, Mick Foley, Trish Stratus, Lita, Edge, Christian, The Hardy Boys, The Dudley Boys, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, DDP, Goldberg, Buff Bagwell, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Jake the Snake, Macho Man, Ultimate Warrior, Big Boss Man, Sgt Slaughter, Ric Flair, Sting, Booker T, Kurt Angle, and much more. So don't tell me who is a real fan or not. I have been watching since the 80's and now I can't even be bothered anymore it's gotten that bad. I was born in '98 so I just missed out on the most of the attitude era since I started to watch late 2004 which really sucks but at least I got to watch the ruthless aggression era which I'll take any day over what we got now

People, it isn't the "PG" Era. PG stands for Parental Guidance. WWE has been PG before. What about the 80s? What about the colorful kid friendly characters like Hulk Hogan, Sgt. Slaughter, Ultimate Warrior, and Jim Duggan? And people LIKED that era! Hell, even some early attitude era programming was PG. If anything, this era is nothing more than a watered down version of the WWE in late 80s early 90s.
