    Thank you for taking the time to educate me and many others with this video. I enjoy doing work on my car so I’m more educated in that respect and so I know what work needs doing so I’m not ripped off or scammed.

    I was changing my oil ahead of a 400 mile round trip. Thought it might be a good idea. Went to replace the sump plug and it wouldn't seat correctly. Took it easy and tightened slowly, but, the thread housing fractured off. I have a fabia, '51 reg (119,000). So, I needed to replace the sump pan and I followed this video to the letter. Result was a vehicle that did the 400 mile round trip with no problems. I've had my car 14 years, and I'm quite attached to it. Thank you for a very informative video. The gasket seal you used is quality, but it takes 24 hours to cure, not a problem, because it should last. I've checked the oil repeatedly since I replaced the pan, and there are no leaks whatsoever. Again, thank you.

    Good video. I have a leak from the gearbox side of sump on my 130pd tdi and hoping its the sump leaking. If the seal in gearbox was leaking would it drip out on floor. Or is it all sealed around there and just leak into the sump. Just trying to eliminate other possibilities before i reseal the sump and hope it's that. Thanks

    • @TheProjectGuy194
      @TheProjectGuy194  4 года назад +1

      If the oil is dripping between sump an gearbox, my thoughts it's likely to to be rear engine crankshaft seal an not the sump, would need to take gearbox off, clutch an flywheel to access the seal.

    • @TheProjectGuy194

      Liquid gasket is what originally used so new sealer is needed

    Too much liquid gasket, 2-3mm max. It will glog your oil suction point if they detached inside the pan...

    • @TheProjectGuy194
      @TheProjectGuy194  3 года назад +3

      Benoit that's a very good comment on the liquid gasketan you right in what your saying, need to check the my video to see if I was laying it on too much. The car is still in every use an have no leaks, also fitted new front springs an mounts an car is sitting 30mm higher to keep the sump off the speed ramps in our local towns.

    11:26 cracked the seal flange 😭
    Not re-installing but removing the damned bolt that was stripped and required to be drilled. Tragic, fail, I had be more gentle and patient.
    Now, before entering the hell of removing transmission, clutch and flywheel I think it worths a simple repair attempt.. and pray..
    What kind of plastic is that flange? What would the best product to cure its crack?
    The same black liquid silicone gasket used for the oil pan could be used?
    Some specific bicomponent epoxy for that kind of plastic?
    😡😡😡😡

    • @maurizioalfieri602
      @maurizioalfieri602 5 лет назад

      fiberglass?

    • @TheProjectGuy194
      @TheProjectGuy194  5 лет назад

      You would be safer to replace this flange. Gearbox out, clutch an flywheel to replace it. Would take a day to do it. The flange comes complete with the crankshaft seal. To be honest I think the plastic is too fine to repair so it would be better to replace it.

      @@TheProjectGuy194 thanks for your feedback. I know I should have worked without hurry and much better.. I'll do the complete job so.. anyway I should do one repair attempt because car cannot be off for long time these days.. I should delay the job as long as I can.. I'll start with a temporary repair and monitor any leakage.. hoping it will not be a torrent since the first run.
      Have you any suggestion about materials?
