- Michael "Mickey" Bielski shared his family's experiences during the Holocaust at Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center on March 2, 2017. Though we are somewhat familiar with the story from the feature film "Defiance", in which actor Daniel Craig portrayed Tuvia, Mickey's father, this was an opportunity to gain special insights about a legendary group of Jewish partisans.
I JUST watched defiance. I had to come here. Such respect for their bravery and courage. One of the most well done films of all time
I wish there is a Armenian Genocide museum in the United States. My Nanah at 6 yrs old survived and witnessed the horrors of her family being murdered and other Armenians being murdered. My Nanah told me her truth. Her truth is my truth. I will carry it with me and pass this truth and knowledge on to others. When I was 8 yrs old she told me NEVER FORGET WHERE YOU CAME FROM AND WHO YOU ARE. I love and miss her everyday. She is the gentlest soul in the world. She never rose her voice or got angry. She is pure love. Nanah I miss you. I'm strong because of you. I love you Nanah.
I agree..it wasn't enough!!! The Bielski brothers were the greatest of the great! Tuvia was such an amazing brave man! Ty for bringing their story to others...I loved the movie and the book..I think the movie was one of my favorites of all time..because IT was True!!!

An old Indian proverb. That also rings true in the lives of these Jews and the Bielski Otriad. Thank you Tuvia, Zus Asael and Aron Bielski for your courage and love for your people.

There has always been people who denied the Holocaust. Even with all the evidence he is. I really appreciate listening to this meeting. Just before I came across this one I was listening to the youngest of the brothers testimony about what happened keeping in mind that he was only a boy then. What a wonderful testimonies How about the brothers and all the Pattersons who helped save the or fellow Jews.
Defiance is one of the best war films, if you ask me. Together with the Piano.
They both outclass Schindler's List, although the war industry can't be emphasized enough. Already during the wars, the media played significant roles. Think of Marlène Diettrich, but also Jozef Goebels.
And I can't understand what people see in Inglorious Bastards; what a travesty..
