- It’s safe to say that Sony made a breakthrough hit with the PS1, and the magnitude of the success was such that it solidified the Japanese tech giant as one of the biggest market shareholders in the video game console space. While the quality of the hardware itself was also responsible for the success of the PS1, the majority of the success can be credited to an excellent assortment of releases that paved the way for future household franchises that opened the possibilities to entirely new avenues not seen before in gaming.
With this video, we count down 15 of the best PS1 releases of all time.
What ???? Where did you pull out this list ???? Where is Tekken, silent hill, Spyro, crash bandicoot, dino crisis, Final fantasy 7, syphon filter, castlevania, tony hawks, parasite eve to name a very few. But most importantly the PS1 was a platformer haven, not a single franchise on your list, Rayman, oddworld, ape escape and many more.

I mean, there are still games coming into PS Plus Premium as ports from that PS1 era. And some people are still making games for it, mostly fan games, so technically They are still coming out.
Resident evil 2 is the best ps1 game ever, followed by medal of honor.
Legacy Of Kain Soul Reaver, Parasite Eve and Dino Crisis should've been on this list over atleast 5 games that you named.....
Oh yea Legacy of Kain is an underrated gem... Too bad there's no remake or sequel to it

I would say either together or pick one. Like FF, Spyro, and Crash I would but the series as a whole not to clog the list.

No other game genres age more poorly than "realistic" Sports games, it's why those types of games from 20 years ago still look and play roughly the same.

Tekken, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Syphon Filter, Psychic Force, Dark Cloud, Final Fantasy, Abes Odyssey, Die Hard, Ridge Racer, Silent Hill, Driver, Tony Hawk, Time Crisis, Fifa 94. Any of these should be on there.

A hidden gem that no one talks about - rogue trip vacation 2012. It’s essentially a goofy twisted metal with missions. Definitely a fun game

At the end of the day, this list is a matter of opinion and I enjoyed the watch. But shocked by GT1 over 2, tomb raider 1 over 2/3, RE 3 over 1/2, for sure

What I loved with Broken Sword, you could try to shake hands with your electric device to every character in the game, and it was always saying a different thing 😂 . I especially remember the level with the Kebab seller. So much fun.

I've never played Colony Wars, tbh this is the first I've heard of it but if THOSE are the graphics than that game straight up looks like a high quality PS2 game running on the PS1!

This list is bad... ill change for you. Metal gear, resident evil, silent hill, chrono cross, final fantasy,tekken 3,gran turismo 2, vagrant story, ape escape, tomb raider 2,tony hawk 2, iss pro 2. Etc etc.
The list is fine , u just listed your personal taste, all these games pioneered their genres or were great for their time
@@mikejames4910 It does not matter if they pioneered their genres, this is not "15 most important PS1 games". That is like saying GTA 3 is better than GTA V because it was the pioneer. You can't have a top15 PS1 games without Tekken, Tony Hawk, Castelvania Symphony of the night etc. The list is awful.

Saying tony hawks or any other sports game is the best rated Ps1 game is mad🤦🏾♂️ tekken 3, abes oddysee, tai fu wrath of tiger, tenchu, metal gear solid , tomba/tombi, heart of darkness, medievil, re-loaded, pandemonium...there's more but any of them easily surpasses tony hawks by a landslide 🤷🏾♂️

Metal Gear Solid always gets mentioned but I played it back then and was like "eh... its ok.... i guess..." but Tenchu though was excellent :-D loved that game :-D
I loved Ridge racer, 3D Lemmings, Resident Evil, Dino crisis, battle arena touchinden, Tekken, Krazy Ivan, Gran Turismo, Driver, FF7, metal gear, parappa the rapper, silent hill, twisted metal, crash bandicoot and many others. WTF was that list on the channel?

With that being said... where is MediEvil, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Crash Bandicoot 3, Duke Nukem: Time to Kill, Soul Reaver, Driver 2, Silent Hill.

NBA live 97 was better, we could have a draft to play each other, that was amazing, NCAA Football 2001 was the best sports game, where in the world if Final Fantasy?

No ISS Soccer Or Crash Bandi Res Evil 2 is considered a classic as is Alien Trilogy might not be Epic but was a Good Sci Fi Shootem up Wipeout could have made the list all be it around 14th or 15th Based on sales this isn't the best PS1 list just Isent!
