No, that was a powershift. Powershifting (aka flat foot shifting or shifting without lifting) is upshifting without rev matching, instead just leaving your foot planted on the gas. Money shifting is accidentally downshifting when you meant to upshift, thus overrevving your engine (for example going from 2nd to 1st instead of 2nd to 3rd).
If you got a heavy duty electric motor with a low hum, they sound amazing, powerful, I love old classic electric engines they sound heavy duty as fuck.
Best/worst part is as an adult driving semi trucks, that you are supposed to shift without using the clutch, when ever going back to driving regular vehicles, where you have to use the clutch to shift, is a real PITA.

This would be a great way to practice the idea of shifting in a real manual car before even getting in it. All he needs to do is create a LEGO clutch disk but I imagine that would get worn out a lot.

I was doing this with old school Technics gear sets, that had way less parts to work with, back in the late 80's as a kid, before being a Lego Technics nerd was respectable. 😁 Lots a find it, grind it and or break it doing that sort of hard shifting!

Maybe not. It's not working with very much torque at all, it could probably work with just standard Lego brick plastic I think
