I just purchased a Rpr 338, looking into the best bullet/powder recipe. Thinking the 300 grain Berger’s, the 285 Hornady eld’s, or these atips. Goals will be long range/precision paper punching and hunting. Excited to get into it, haven’t gotten to shoot it yet. Found a whole bunch of Ammo cheap from a guy who sold his Lapua, 300 rds of match grade ppu and Hornady eld’s for $1.60 a round. When my optic gets home I’ll be ready to send it
I would recommend sticking to the 250s or close to it for a lapua. .338 Lapua was really designed for 250 and when shooting a 300 you often lose too much case capacity
@@rprzen2099 Ive shot the 250 PPU's and a mix of the 250 and 285 ELD Hornady's now. Only reached out to 450 yards atm. less than 45 rounds on it total. im shooting around 1-1.5" at 300 yards and i love how the 338 rpr with a terminator brake has practically zero recoil. feels like a .243. its pretty heavy overall, and really loud, but awesomely fun to shoot.
Thanks for the video! Have you hand loaded or can you report on the 230g ATIP with the .300 WIN MAG ? Load Data is hard to find. I see other video's with that combination but no data.
Typical savings are 60% when reloading. With .338 lapua you can shoot 4 reloaded rounds for the cost of one factory. Currently I have .338 lapua costing $2 a round with Lehigh defense bullets which are on the more expensive side of the spectrum however I can’t imagine what it would cost as a factory round. I would also like to add that powders for the .338 lapua are VERY hard to come by. I would definitely recommend reloading and if you do, stock up on components whenever you get the chance.
@@berniedmj1 I just bought 3 boxes from one of the big box sporting stores that rhymes with sportscans hairhouse. The prices have increased from $99.99 a box to $119.99 a box. I'm looking forward to finding the elusive H1000 powder to reload with but I was able to find a couple of pounds of Ramshot Magnum and IMR Enduron 7977
I don’t know what his bullets are jumping, as that depends on the rifle, but I’m loading my A-Tips to 3.86” (.005” less than him) and my ammo is actually .005” INTO the lands . They seem to hold the most consistent for me long range.
For that price the spread in weight is on the large side I think. I just weighted some lapua scenar 250 bullets and they were no more than 0.2 grains off.then again you are using the LnL as a scale which is an abysmal excuse for a precision scale😂
@@diamondcuttermedia whats your length? i started at 89gr H1000 @ 3.755 coal mag fed, it swells the case in chamber, have to drive bolt open and ram rod case out, dropped to 87.5gr @ 3.755, same thing. dropped to 85.5 and havent tested yet. my rifle is christensen mesa lr
I’m not real sure why you made a video. First you said that bullet weights were not what was showing, then you said that you worked on the overall length and it’s somewhere between 30 and 40,000 in it came out real sweet. Don’t you write this stuff down? Just curious. I believe your intentions were good, but there is relatively little information in this video.

Great demonstration . I am looking to get a rifle in that caliber . I mostly shoot 308 at this time .

I do and I use the data from Hornady s book (11th edition).

If you loaded 92gr 1000 behind a 300gr atip you blew your rifle up
Negative, never had any pressure signs. Plus, I push the bullet out so far I have to hand feed
