I got to say Genesis knocked it out of the park with this one. Very impressed. Let's hope this thing has the performance to help it compete with the Germans. I know it's not this brands intention to create high-performance SUVs but this would be refreshing to have a new competitor.

I think the secret to making the proportions work in this SUV coupe is that from the sideview, the tail doesn't dip lower than the bottom of the A pillar. This makes the whole car take a more wedge like shape instead of a swallowtail shape. The problem would be a very narrow rear-window but modern car makers like Genesis have alleviated this by extending the glass into the roof and the tailgate lid.

Yeah...this is up there with Porsche. I think they do a nice job with the Coupe SUVs. Most of the others totally butcher the lines and proportions. Still don't get why people buy these though...I would probably go all the way and buy a proper car, or get the normal SUV if I needed the space/AWD.
6:00 - 6:40 🐆 Something about it reminds me of a cheetah in motion… from the focused and slanted “eyes” to the way that body line dips down, and the ducktail - akin to the way the tip of a cheetahs tail sticks up. It just has this look of composed elegance with the ability to get primal and pounce if necessary. I don’t notice most crossovers but the Genesis ones catch my eye almost every time. I love the way Genesis is doing this blend of sport & luxury that - in my opinion - punches well above their price points. Although crossovers aren’t my thing, these will be pleasing to see on the roads. That two-door coupe would 100% get me into their dealership to check it out, though. Keep up the great work and if you have the 3rd gen Audi TTS on your list, I’d love to see your thoughts some day. Mine is in the garage now and I love it just like I did years ago when it was new. This is pretty much the production version. The only parts that are changing are, as you mentioned, lights, seats (more conventional seats are installed) and removal of the rollcage.
Porsche and Genesis (and even volve) seem to be the only companies making exciting cars and SUV's anymore. This new GV80 coupe along with the Cayenne coupe look a million times better than all the other coupe SUV's out there!

The Genesis immediately reminded me of the Mercedes-Benz AMG too and you pointed out the graphics of the Porsche front and back -- like it all makes so much sense. The "SUV Coupe" body style tends to looks kind of awkward in my opinion, but Genesis nailed it on this one. Honestly, I think it looks better than the new BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE.
This one is crazy beautiful. It looks really aggressive and yet very sophisticated at the same time. Also, the seat designs are speechless. If it roars with a naturally aspirated V8 engine, wow! But, Gen is more likely to put something like 3.5 V6 turbo in it.
Imho, gv80 coupe is kinda look like g80 on a suv platform. It does have a good basic design as a sedan and they just put it on a higher platform and surprisingly it works well
This rear end kinda reminds me of what Honda tried to do with the European version of 8th gen Civic. A regular bubbly compact car, but the rear end treatment added a sporty vibe
I love my GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige, the GV80 coupe is even more beautiful. Most coupes look like their "butt" is in the air, Genesis uses the parabolic line to ground the rear end on their models, brilliant design.

Yeah Hyundai/Genesis are killing it. I could see them overtaking Tesla in a couple years. I had my heart set on Tesla for my next car but that whole emplyees sharing camera data debacle killed any interest I had in that company.
So KG Mobility (formerly known as SsangYong) recently introduced a bunch of new, cool looking EVs and I'm really interested in your thoughts on their design and how it evolved from the past
This car seems to have a design aimed not at competing with Mercedes GLE or X6, but rather with Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, and Lamborghini. Of course, since it is made by Hyundai, its engine and performance may not be as good, but its design is already at the level of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Bentley, and other luxury brands. With improvements in quality and performance, Genesis could become a truly global luxury brand with a distinctive design identity. However, I feel that the dual lamps at the rear of the vehicle bring down the overall impression, so I think it would be better to remove one line of the dual line at the rear trunk under the emblem. That would lift up the overall impression of the rear of the car, giving it a more dynamic feel. I highly appreciate the various elements of traditional car design that Genesis possesses, especially since it has suddenly emerged in the world of car design, where Japan and Germany are struggling. I believe that Mazda, Genesis, and some Italian companies are currently the best in traditional car design.
It would prolly be better for me personally if the seats were more luxury focused and less track focused. Most people who get the car would never let it see the asphalt of a race circuit. You would think genesis of all companies would have gone for a nice compromise... And why does it have a roll cage? I guess it's a concept and the final might not have it but still tho, most people who want a track toy wouldn't get an SUV coupe and those who want an SUV coupe wouldn't let it see a track
Things that won’t make production… White lights on the side of the front fender (against regs) Continuous rear tail lights (against regs) Rear twin bucket seats (impractical) Front will require additional headlights lower in the bumper as the strip LED’s will likely be running lights. My concern is that this will need an uplift in power to compete with the BMW M cars and AMG’s to truly compete and all Genesis could do is tune the 3.5v6 tt to maybe an extra 50-75HP which won’t be enough. Expect the production car will likely have 22” wheels not 23’s too. Awesome car

I have a 2021…Polar white/black with the 22 inch matte black wheels….very stunning to say the least…of course I bought one bc I love the design and the way it drives…but I get the thumbs up all of the time as I’m driving…but he’s def entitled to his opinion…I was wondering what I was going to get after my lease is up…and this Genesis not only looks fantastic…but the fact that it’s getting an ICE…is a no brainer for me

The idea of couple SUVs never made sense to me, the downsides of an SUV (weight, fuel economy, etc.) with the practicality of a smaller hatchback/sedan. But the design does look fantastic unlike the majority of coupe SUVs. The color is very similar color to the Ford Raptor Orange.
A lot of people prefer a high driving position, but also want to look sporty, so coupe SUVs have unfortunately been selling. At least now one of the models will look good

I thought so too, but its etymology is actually from the French "carrosse coupé"-literally ‘cut carriage’. So it does sorta work here.

Like I've said on other vlogs, I'll believe it when it's done .... ANNNND ... how much different will it look when it becomes production like the Iqnic 6. I hope they don't put batteries in there, Jaguar did that on the F Pace and it made it heavier and somewhat slower because of the weight.
