To be honest, Violet Evergarden was the most surprising and deep anime i've watched in quite sometime especially on Netflix. Im such a sucker for piano melodies, thats why i love this channel
i know so damn good right? i have my neighbors crying and not look me in the eye watching it. music makes this anime from medicore to i will squeeze the tears out of you till you get refill!and you will never forget me

Don't get me wrong, Violet Evergarden is my favorite anime of all time -- by far. However, after rewatching it a few times, I can say that it is not perfect just as any other form of art cannot be perfect. One specific nitpick is that the OST (which is super beautiful) is overplayed, especially in the earlier episodes. There are moments where I wish there would be silent, but emotional orchestral arrangements are blasting over it. A larger nitpick that has more to do with the actual story is that the Major is implied to have romantic feelings for Violet. The age gap is just a bit off-putting, but nothing indigestible. It isn't confirmed that the love is romantic but I'm hoping its not.
@@edwardlee374 Yes, the 15 year old gap is surely a put off, I thought that it was maybe a 'family love' but the movie implied it to be a romantic feeling, how ever, is we look at it in a optimistic view, age does not mater in love as long as they love each other :)

Spoilers from the new movie be warned You can just tell how much violet wanted to say i love you and how much he meant to her. All she could say was 'I' and 'major', the first words she uttered as a child. Such raw emotions. Someone who was raised as a tool, can cry so genuinely. The major who never cries in front of anyone else, broke down infront of the one he loves. (Spoilers as i go deep into their philosophy) He felt guilty, he felt undeserving of even touching her, consoling her after what he felt he forced her to go through. He couldn't protect her, he caused her to lose her arms, he couldn't give her a happy childhood she deserves but in the end, he still loves her. He couldn't stand being separated from her even a second longer, not being with her as she goes through life. He was afraid of what might happen to her and can't stand the thought of her suffering on his behalf. All he needed was an answer, he needs to know how she feels no matter, whether its love or not, and then he could die happily knowing she has matured. Thankfully, it was a happy reunion. She was saved by him. Brought out of abuse, given a purpose and someone to protect. At first, he thought it was for protection but eventually both reliased it was out of love. She loved him ever since they first hugged, even before he confessed, he was the first light to her ever perpetual darkness. She would do anything to protect him. He is her first and only true romantic relationship she ever develops. No matter who else tried to charm her, she won't allow it because the one she loves has always been around her neck. Spoilers. They eventually vowed to be together forever and never leave each other side. They affirmed that they are the only one for one another and sealed the deal with a kiss. Both are disabled. One lost both arms, one lost an arm and an eye. But if you asked them, they would unquestionably say it was all worth it as their impact on one another is and will always be priceless. They would do it again in a heartbeat. Since childhood, he has a fear of loneliness. As a high ranking militant, he was sought out for status instead of authenticity. But now he has reunited with the one he loves and the same goes for her. If there is another season, it would dive into their respective insecurities as they have to spend time apart due to their respective jobs. Finally vented. 😞 Thank you for such a well crafted story. My heart is still recovering from reading the novel but as the author put in the epilogue, remember no matter what you are going through, violet will be waiting. No matter the place, time or situation. She truly is extremely precious and a masterful piece of creation.
A touching movie indeed. I was hoping they'd have kids and the kids were hinted as an easter egg in the MC's plot before the flashback. That was the only disappointing thing for me, otherwise it was a hella ride on the emotion rollercoaster. I remembered booking the ticket to the movie the moment it was released in the cinemas haha
I'm really confused about the movies, can you help me? I saw the one that came out on Netflix called Gaiden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll. But i know there is one more that continues the anime, i can't find it on Netflix, on IMDB it's called "The Movie (2021)", so it's not out yet?
@@xLacryman The movie you watched is considered the first movie, with the first half being canon. The second movie you mentioned which the video was dedicated to is unfortunately not available as of yet due to the pandemic. I was the lucky few to watch it before lockdown so it will be a while before it goes back up. Grab some tissues if/when you watch it! Long read ahead ⚠️ for those who want in depth details of the series. The movie change the main plot points but still drives home the same emotions. Yes the anime has also changed some important stuff, for example in episode 11 there was no forehead kissing for aidan just hand holding. But most importantly was that Major and Violet were reunited much earlier. Rmb the scene where the major's brother saved violet on the train in the last episode. Yeah that person was suppose to be the major in the main show. That was how they reunited after 4 years apart. The movie can just be considered a separate continunity. Major already knew violet was alive but she didnt. Volet couldn't say a word other than major like when they first met and begged to be used once again. Begged to not be thrown aside and he promises he wouldn't let go of her, not anymore. Major was already in the army. He wanted to rise the ranks so that he could protect violet from the inside. If he became a general, he can veto any orders that puts violet in danger so he sacrificed his own time and livelihood to ensure her safety without her knowing. After knowing that violet was abroad the same train being targetted, he dropped everything and his top priority was her safety. He was willing to move an entire army for her benefit. Ths events of the movie and its ending is changed but the dialogues were pretty much similar to the ending and the entire premises of episode 13 is different. Violet couldn't say the words i love you even though she wanted to say it, fearing it might bs rejected or thrown away. The words stuck on her throat, her characteristic doll face forever altered. So this is around volume 2 chapter 13. There are other scenes that wasn't covered as well since the anime only had 13 episode. If there were 26 they could have added Violet visiting prison, benedict's lifestory etc etc more charcter relationship progression. She established much more friendship, a father figure in the president of the company, a brother figure in Benedict and best friends with her collegues. She has been everywhere but made it clear to those to confessed to her that there was only one for her and that he was around her neck indefinitely. They then laid out everything to One another and he confessed again after they met. They then start a relationship continuing their own lives and jobs to have a better future. The major was already a colonel and just 1 step away from becoming a general. Because they were both busy and wanted for their respective jobs, they couldn't meet each other much. So they exchanged letters. Violet still couldn't voice out her thoughts but could write them very well. She said she knew that she loved him ever since they first met, how she was dying to see him, how she couldn't stand being separated from him. She finally said i love you but voiced her own insecurities and and inadequacy. Reading how she berates herself, he felt guilty and decided to go on leave to visit her. Her fears, nightmare, longing to see him, fear that she is not worthy or just an embarrassment to him made him worry and angry at himself for failing to properly reassure her. He wanted to reassure her but the letter that he was sending couldn't reach her as she was elsewhere. Feeling concerned he took leave fron his duties and travelled to where she was located to personally drive all her worries and anxiety away. He felt like that was at least how much he owes and the least he could do. Long story short they met, confessed, affirmed and kissed for the first time. She has rejected thousands upon thousands of courtship from males and females and he has never found another love interest other than her. Other cute moments were when he kissed her metallic fingers and apologised and said he swore not to do it again aftering seeing her cry. She then asked him to not swear that he will not do it again. Her confession letter was the best, even better than those in real life. It felt so raw, like words coming directly from the heart. She keeps mixing up the ranks between colonel and major but he said he could just call him as per normal amd whatever was rirght to her. Even after saying she wont forget to call him colonel she soon after called him major again but he didnt mind. Both were the only ones who has ever made the other feel that much emotion, made each other cry the most. Violet became to act like a normal girl, blushing, couldn't remain eye contact with him, or stop her heart from pounding after he said heartwarming words etc. He was just glad to have her back in his life and that she belongs to him and only him in the romantic sense. Knowing that, he said he didn't need anything else, status, rank, friendship none of that, his salvation is her happiness. Missed out many things but basically the anime was quite sincere in following the main show other than the last episode. During the stargazing Leon confessed to violet but was rejected as she only treated him as a friend. Basically there were much more confession to violet but all were shot down other than one. Because she was the one who fell in love first after that first embrace. The light to her perpetual darkness. Timeline: Violet first meet him when she was 10, followed him until 14 and reunited with him when she was 18. First movie she was around 17 and this movie she was around 17-18~. If there is a season 2 or another movie expect more tears. There are some missed key differance and scenes that failed to made it into the anime but the main idea has already been said. Volume 1 - 1-5 adapted except for 5 Volume 2 - 6-13 some are adapted but changed plot difference Volume 3 - Gaiden 1-6 (All New) Volume 4 Ever after 1-5 End (All New) Some volumes are flashback that is in the anime but generally thats chronologically how it goes. Well as for the anime creating original content, Kyoani was aiming to make Violet into a more relatable character and not perfect from the off set. They are known to mordifiying massive amounts of content for their adaptations so it was foreseeable. I would like to think that they did it to make the story flow more but as the novel was still in midst of creation during 2018 and they still needed time, they changed part of the plot which became significant afterwards. Nonetheless although part of it changed and i didn't like how the episode was changed to his brother instead, it did lead to a relatively awesome movie so we'll take it with a grain of salt. They also procured the awesome episode 10 well. There are still 2 full volumes to cover and side stories so there is still much potential to be had. I promise you that the limited interections between Violet and Major are one of the best if it were to ever be adapted. Violet has grown so much and it actually makes readers feel pride and joy at her positive change. She was so emotionless, needed instruction and couldn't live alone but after years of interactions, she grew up and matured. She had made such a tremendous impact to those letter she wrote, polite to both the young and the old addressing them with the proper etiquette and even to corrupt prisoners she still respected him enough and tried to relate to him. It even taught me that although technology advance, it came at the sacrifice of cultivating writers like violet as letter becomes obsolete and rare with phones around. She is still forgiving herself herself of her sins, needing someone there whenever she falters and that someone has adamantly made it clear that he will do so. Instead of blaming herself, she is accpeting her past, moving on and helping others, never killing again. Her backstoey was much more gruesome in the novel. As expected of such a beauty, many attempted to abduct and rape her when she was a child, but she knocked them all out. She remain pure all the way until she became engaged with major, truly a worthwhile read. Everyone make mistakes but that doesn't mean we are held back by them or doesn't deserve forgiveness as long as we repent. Listening to sincerely on the background🥲 In conclusion a must read would be the last 2 chapters of volume 5 where would zip the mouth of critiques.
The movie broke me down so much, but filled me with so much passion and realization for what we call “love” and how we each define it. I’ll forever remember this movie and it’s beauty for as long as I live, love, and grow! Additionally, this was a beautiful cover and I absolutely loved it! Thank you so much for this! :)
Anime violet evergarden, this anime is the most masterpiece anime I've ever watched, anyway number one, the best anime in terms of graphics, characters, stories, plots and what I like the most is the music, the ost/backsound. Every time I hear the ost it makes me cry, I feel like I was transported to an era from the Violet Evergarden story, and the music makes me nostalgic. the music i like the most : - Will be true - Discovering the Past - Mirai no Hito e - Never Coming Back - Futarigoto - The Voice in My Heart - Violet's Letter - Violet Snow - Sincerely - Michishirube
Yeah, I believe it'll be really hard to overcome Violet Evergarden in terms of overall greatness. KyoAni gave it all they had, the graphics is stunning, the scenery always fits the story so damn well. The story is simple as hell, understandable by any human out there and the main concept of it is so old that you could show this anime 100 years ago and everyone would understand what it is about. There's just no other thing that is more universal than love, so there's not much to hate this anime for. I simply can't think of a reason to hate such a great piece of art.

violet evergarden is probably one of my favorite animes an anime that hits very close to home from not understanding the meaning of i love you to growing from the past to making new friends and finding purpose in life sharing happy times and bad times with eachother has surely been something and i hope there is more to come ~8/16/2021
Loved this anime so much, I mean of course, it’s Kyoto Animation. They’re one of, if not the best Japanese Studios out there, and they’ve always delivered magic to their works. Violet Evergarden is their Masterpiece; awesome animations, amazing story, and most importantly, a 10/10 OST

Absolutely. Kyo Ani and Evan Call went above and far beyond expectations With Violet. It's the first anime I recommend to people who have a new interest in the art form.

還記得當初無論在電影院還是在家看這套動漫的時候，都看到爆哭。😭😭現在每當聽到 Sincerely 或者是Will, 都會莫名的感到很感動。網絡上有很多這幾首歌的cover,可是真正好聽的卻不多。但RuRu的cover永遠都能讓人感受到那首歌的喜怒哀樂，聯想到動漫的情節，所以真的真心覺得很厲害👍🏻

真的覺得這種日常又帶點文藝的番比王道系列的題材更吸引我，也不得不佩服石川由依能把這個沒有表情的角色發揮的淋漓盡致，從一個只會寫報告書的到最後可以表達對少佐的思念，就像是電影版的slogan，為心愛之人送上最後一封信~

I'm really confused about the movies, can you help me? I saw the one that came out on Netflix called Gaiden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll. But i know there is one more that continues the anime, i can't find it on Netflix, on IMDB it's called "The Movie (2021)", so it's not out yet?
@@xLacryman The movie you watched is considered the first movie, with the first half being canon. The second movie you mentioned which the video was dedicated to is unfortunately not available as of yet due to the pandemic. I was the lucky few to watch it before lockdown so it will be a while before it goes back up. Grab some tissues if/when you watch it!
Long read ahead ⚠️ for those who want in depth details of the series.
The movie change the main plot points but still drives home the same emotions. Yes the anime has also changed some important stuff, for example in episode 11 there was no forehead kissing for aidan just hand holding. But most importantly was that Major and Violet were reunited much earlier.
Rmb the scene where the major's brother saved violet on the train in the last episode. Yeah that person was suppose to be the major in the main show. That was how they reunited after 4 years apart. The movie can just be considered a separate continunity. Major already knew violet was alive but she didnt. Volet couldn't say a word other than major like when they first met and begged to be used once again. Begged to not be thrown aside and he promises he wouldn't let go of her, not anymore.
Major was already in the army. He wanted to rise the ranks so that he could protect violet from the inside. If he became a general, he can veto any orders that puts violet in danger so he sacrificed his own time and livelihood to ensure her safety without her knowing.
After knowing that violet was abroad the same train being targetted, he dropped everything and his top priority was her safety. He was willing to move an entire army for her benefit. Ths events of the movie and its ending is changed but the dialogues were pretty much similar to the ending and the entire premises of episode 13 is different.
Violet couldn't say the words i love you even though she wanted to say it, fearing it might bs rejected or thrown away. The words stuck on her throat, her characteristic doll face forever altered. So this is around volume 2 chapter 13. There are other scenes that wasn't covered as well since the anime only had 13 episode. If there were 26 they could have added Violet visiting prison, benedict's lifestory etc etc more charcter relationship progression. She established much more friendship, a father figure in the president of the company, a brother figure in Benedict and best friends with her collegues. She has been everywhere but made it clear to those to confessed to her that there was only one for her and that he was around her neck indefinitely.
They then laid out everything to
One another and he confessed again after they met. They then start a relationship continuing their own lives and jobs to have a better future. The major was already a colonel and just 1 step away from becoming a general. Because they were both busy and wanted for their respective jobs, they couldn't meet each other much.
So they exchanged letters. Violet still couldn't voice out her thoughts but could write them very well. She said she knew that she loved him ever since they first met, how she was dying to see him, how she couldn't stand being separated from him. She finally said i love you but voiced her own insecurities and and inadequacy. Reading how she berates herself, he felt guilty and decided to go on leave to visit her. Her fears, nightmare, longing to see him, fear that she is not worthy or just an embarrassment to him made him worry and angry at himself for failing to properly reassure her. He wanted to reassure her but the letter that he was sending couldn't reach her as she was elsewhere. Feeling concerned he took leave fron his duties and travelled to where she was located to personally drive all her worries and anxiety away. He felt like that was at least how much he owes and the least he could do.
Long story short they met, confessed, affirmed and kissed for the first time. She has rejected thousands upon thousands of courtship from males and females and he has never found another love interest other than her.
Other cute moments were when he kissed her metallic fingers and apologised and said he swore not to do it again aftering seeing her cry. She then asked him to not swear that he will not do it again. Her confession letter was the best, even better than those in real life. It felt so raw, like words coming directly from the heart. She keeps mixing up the ranks between colonel and major but he said he could just call him as per normal amd whatever was rirght to her. Even after saying she wont forget to call him colonel she soon after called him major again but he didnt mind.
Both were the only ones who has ever made the other feel that much emotion, made each other cry the most. Violet became to act like a normal girl, blushing, couldn't remain eye contact with him, or stop her heart from pounding after he said heartwarming words etc. He was just glad to have her back in his life and that she belongs to him and only him in the romantic sense. Knowing that, he said he didn't need anything else, status, rank, friendship none of that, his salvation is her happiness.
Missed out many things but basically the anime was quite sincere in following the main show other than the last episode. During the stargazing Leon confessed to violet but was rejected as she only treated him as a friend. Basically there were much more confession to violet but all were shot down other than one. Because she was the one who fell in love first after that first embrace. The light to her perpetual darkness.
Timeline: Violet first meet him when she was 10, followed him until 14 and reunited with him when she was 18. First movie she was around 17 and this movie she was around 17-18~. If there is a season 2 or another movie expect more tears.
There are some missed key differance and scenes that failed to made it into the anime but the main idea has already been said.
Volume 1 - 1-5 adapted except for 5
Volume 2 - 6-13 some are adapted but changed plot difference
Volume 3 - Gaiden 1-6 (All New)
Volume 4 Ever after 1-5 End (All New)
Some volumes are flashback that is in the anime but generally thats chronologically how it goes.
Well as for the anime creating original content, Kyoani was aiming to make Violet into a more relatable character and not perfect from the off set. They are known to mordifiying massive amounts of content for their adaptations so it was foreseeable. I would like to think that they did it to make the story flow more but as the novel was still in midst of creation during 2018 and they still needed time, they changed part of the plot which became significant afterwards.
Nonetheless although part of it changed and i didn't like how the episode was changed to his brother instead, it did lead to a relatively awesome movie so we'll take it with a grain of salt. They also procured the awesome episode 10 well. There are still 2 full volumes to cover and side stories so there is still much potential to be had.
I promise you that the limited interections between Violet and Major are one of the best if it were to ever be adapted. Violet has grown so much and it actually makes readers feel pride and joy at her positive change. She was so emotionless, needed instruction and couldn't live alone but after years of interactions, she grew up and matured. She had made such a tremendous impact to those letter she wrote, polite to both the young and the old addressing them with the proper etiquette and even to corrupt prisoners she still respected him enough and tried to relate to him. It even taught me that although technology advance, it came at the sacrifice of cultivating writers like violet as letter becomes obsolete and rare with phones around.
She is still forgiving herself herself of her sins, needing someone there whenever she falters and that someone has adamantly made it clear that he will do so. Instead of blaming herself, she is accpeting her past, moving on and helping others, never killing again. Her backstoey was much more gruesome in the novel. As expected of such a beauty, many attempted to abduct and rape her when she was a child, but she knocked them all out. She remain pure all the way until she became engaged with major, truly a worthwhile read. Everyone make mistakes but that doesn't mean we are held back by them or doesn't deserve forgiveness as long as we repent. Listening to sincerely on the background🥲
In conclusion a must read would be the last 2 chapters of volume 5 where would zip the mouth of critiques.

Anime violet evergarden, this anime is the most masterpiece anime I've ever watched, anyway number one, the best anime in terms of graphics, characters, stories, plots and what I like the most is the music, the ost/backsound. Every time I hear the ost it makes me cry, I feel like I was transported to an era from the Violet Evergarden story, and the music makes me nostalgic. the music i like the most :

Yeah, I believe it'll be really hard to overcome Violet Evergarden in terms of overall greatness. KyoAni gave it all they had, the graphics is stunning, the scenery always fits the story so damn well. The story is simple as hell, understandable by any human out there and the main concept of it is so old that you could show this anime 100 years ago and everyone would understand what it is about. There's just no other thing that is more universal than love, so there's not much to hate this anime for. I simply can't think of a reason to hate such a great piece of art.

violet evergarden is probably one of my favorite animes an anime that hits very close to home from not understanding the meaning of i love you to growing from the past to making new friends and finding purpose in life sharing happy times and bad times with eachother has surely been something and i hope there is more to come ~8/16/2021
