The train in thefirst part of the video is the one we caught.

R.I.P. SHOESTRING!
Watching all these for a 3rd time.
I rode in these trains for 14 years...in the cab. I would love to try sometime from the cars...lol. looks like fun and when i was on the head end i always turned a blind eye to riders!
Lots of crew say that here
Good man
It would never happen here in the UK. Potentially a £1000 fine if caught anywhere near a railway track.
This is one thing (probably the only thing) that I envy about the USA (other than the magnificent scenery...) and that is
how cool and easy it is to ride the iron.
I salute you drivers for being so humane and cool

@@thebeaz1 what the f*ck is your problem. You're just jealous these guys are having a great time, doing what they love, traveling, making a living doing it and shoestring can go home to his comfy apartment anytime he wants. No sh*tty job to worry about. He makes a living off this. A pretty damn good living from youtube running ads on his channel. Plus people send his tips through PayPal. These people are living the way they want of their terms. They enjoy this. Shoestring has an apartment so when he's feeling a little worn out he can just hop a train back home and kick back and relax in his cozy place.

Enjoyed your video very much. Back in 88 we visited the USA and stayed with friends in Covington VA. One Sunday afternoon we drove the 70 miles to Roanoke to the N and W Railway museum. A long way for us Brits!. With such very heavy traffic here a 70 mile trip for an afternoon out is out of the question. Anyway you and your friends stay safe and warm and keep making the videos. Shoestring, instead of putting the whole date on a tag, just put month/year. Dates are the best part of graffiti, in my opinion. I always thought it was neat when ya find really old dates.

Hi gentleman, I discovered your channel by accident as I am also fascinated by trains. Now I am fascinated by your lifestyle too because I believe you have reached a high level of "freedom", you know what I mean. I am an Italian living in France, I believe that in Europe in general it is more difficult to do what you do, I mean traveling on freight trains. But I don't want to hide, I still have too "many chains" to untie to be a free spirit. And that's what I appreciate about you. Take care of yourself and happy New Year's Eve, Bruno.
Once again shoestring you amaze me you seem to do this effortlessly thank you for another beautiful video God bless you and keep you
Never too poor to tour
Hagerstown used to be a big yard terminal with a roundhouse when I rode thru there in the 80s. I haven't rode thru there now since June 2013 and I'm retired from that type of life but many good memories.
Bryn below had a good idea about tagging month/year. Or you could back the date up a day. I kinda would like to see you keep dating them. To me they’re journal entries in a history book.
have a lovely Christmas Mr shoestring..and the boys there...Arundel England..

Linwood NC to Roanoke VA is my regular run. You were in the empty side yard. The part of Roanoke that shut down was the hump several years ago. All flat switching now.
Same thing happened to Linwood cause of the virus, that shit sucks cause there are way less trains now that run through. I live in Spencer NC across the yard from Linwood.
@@tylerbrockwell4212 I work out of Linwood. Covid had zero to do with that yard shutting down. That was all preplanned with PSR and the timing allowed them to get millions from the gov in bailout money.
