    Beautiful! Wish I'd seen it last week...my order including expensive shanks just arrived. If I find I enjoy tying articulated streamers and begin to use them up, or want different sizes, will definitely go this route. Thanks a bunch for showing us.

    308L from the welding supply store is the same stuff flymen uses. Light weight and doesn’t break your looper tool. .030

    Put a bit foam on the hook then you won't stab your self with the hook point

    Thanks for posting this. What kind of tying vice is are you using.

      The vise in the video was produced by a tier named AK Best for a short amount of time in the late 90's. Most of my tying in other videos and in production is a Renzetti when I want rotary functions, or a Dyna-King, especially for bigger hooks and patterns.

    I am wondering... could these shanks be made by using the wire in paper clips?

    • @chrismihulka-nwfishingstuf3852
      @chrismihulka-nwfishingstuf3852  5 лет назад

      The wire in paper clips is too large of a diameter to form well, and by the time you straighten it out, you have created weak spots in the wire. Good question though!

      @@chrismihulka-nwfishingstuf3852 Hi... Thank you for answering my question. It was just a thought but I guess it wasn't a good thought. Thanks to you... now I know. Really enjoyed your video. Just bought some pliers and a 1 step looper so I am getting ready to try making some shanks. Thanks again. U.S. Army, Ret. Texas

    Could you do the samthing to make fly hooks?

    • @chrismihulka-nwfishingstuf3852
      @chrismihulka-nwfishingstuf3852  2 года назад

      The wire is too soft. Hooks are made with harder wire then hardened more through a heating and cooling process.

      @@chrismihulka-nwfishingstuf3852 is that wire not able to be heat treated?
