fortunate kids to have a mother like her...doesn’t trash their father for a moment...totally refreshing! Beautiful woman with a natural glow, must be her “honesty and kindness”...best of luck to all of them.
I wish more Singaporeans speak proper english like her. Myself included. She speaks so eloquently and I really like a lady with class. Rooting for you li lin, all the best for your future endeavours.
I dont understand why people saying her arrogant. But everyone see things differently. From my point of view i think as she said she put kindness first, she has made this choice for everyone well being. She is a nice person with empathy. Tats all it matters.
Good girl, agree with you! Nosy parkers trying to live their lives through you should leave you alone. You always want things to work out and if you fall out of love its your choice to stay or go!!
Nobody wants a breakout to happen. The ppl who suffer the most are the kids. That's why it's God will and promised to be together for life... But whatever happened, n decision already bn made, be happy n be strong for the kids. God bless her.
Respect each other's language for whether it is English or not. Some Singaporeans has such prejudice against others in speaking English. That's bloody ridiculous
Rather late on this. Never wanted to hear about it. Whichever happened between them should remain between them, regardless of circumstances, respectfully at that. All the best to them.
Hakka folks are also known for not being exactly easy on the eyes (just look at eugenics proponent, the late LKY & weep) but Wong Li-Lin is passable. Also, in the heirarchy of the Han Chinese dialect group, Hakkas were traditionally the most looked down upon, locally. No one knows why, exactly but perhaps ostracisation is the likely driving force towards her being strong & independent. The late LKY certainly examplified this. Unlikeable is so many ways, yet undeterred & overly ambitious. The 'salted egg people' certainly ate more salt the rest ate rice, indeed.
From the way she articulate about her divorce, she is a very strong willed lady. Not easy to deal with. Most men would rather avoid marrying such woman.
As a typical Sg man, I agree wholeheartedly with Michael (I rarely watch both their tv movies by the way. So I do not know how good or bad their acting or job is.) Such women ilke Wong Li Lin, imbued with western or foreign thinking, have a mind of their own. Men they associated with or marry must fit into their regime or scheme of things. It's the "I" that matters the most to them - and not so much "You" or "We". If you don't fit into that scheme of things, sorry you are seen or deemed to be inferior - not much different from the rich looking down on their poor cousins. You have to condescend to their wishes or thinking. And after a while, they may find you are not their equal. Their ego suffers and diminishes. That's when they self-evaluate and find that it is better without you than having you in their life. It would be rather difficult or rare for such people to find an equal partner - unless they are so enamoured or crazed with what you have - talent, skills, money, position or certain character - that somehow fit into their scheme, or even changed their scheme - meaning their previous concept of philosophy of life or thinking may undergo a complete upheaval which they are willing to give up in exchange with the new thing they have. Her idea of "honesty and kindness" are irrelevant or basically bullshit to me. Her idea of kindness is like saying I tolerate (I am kind to) your tardiness in throwing dirty linen everywhere in the house. As to honesty, we do not really know, but I guess that she is saying she stays faithful to only one man, her husband. (Unlike Man who will always have a roving eye on another woman - that's eugenic! The concept of one-man-one-woman is specifically cultural or customary enforced.) A public face like her doesn't not necessarily mean that she is any wiser in life than any ordinary person like me, or she thinks better than me. Granted it's none of my or any of our business to probe into their personal life. But because she is more publicly exposed, people hear her more, her personal life could serve as an example for others. The impressionable kids may emulate such personality and think that's the right thing to do in life. Relationship and role change when the kids arrive. Both husband and wife have to change and adjust to their new roles as father and mother in additional to their previous roles as lovers ,and just man and woman in a matrimonial setting. When marriage (which is an institutional culture) fails, that's when we see the wife and husband are not adapt to their new roles. They are unable to accommodate each other in their new additional roles. Basically that it what we see in this case , which is applicable not only to Wong Li LIn but to women who think like her. Husband and wife must adapt and change when they become father and mother, when they become a family. Interestingly there are some people who refused to change. So they remain as husband and wife without kids which add to a new uncertain formula to their equation. Just expressing my gut reaction.
WW is not an important entity here. It's the ideas or opinions that are relevant here. It's not a personal attack, but an effort to understand people in such a situation, and to pass on that understanding. We live with our parents and siblings for decades before marriage and living on our own. We share all the similarities and accommodate all the differences. But now two different people knowing each other for only a few years are living together as a family - they have their own minds and upbringing. It's going to be a new, different and somewhat difficult setting. So a lot of understanding and give-and-take are needed. That's when we can say we are ready to start a family and live together as a family. Children growing up without a father or mother in their formative years is going to be difficult for them. Fortunately, I am not in the "same shoes like Li-Lin". I just wish her all the best - and not complicate the matter with a new "father" for their children.
watching amberheard....... watching this in 2022.... hahaha eh eh different siooooo hahahaha. This is how you handle a split if you are a public figure. They tried, it didn't work, ok lets end it. Lol. Calmly. No need to he say she say op-ed written, more social media.... yeah. Still love the duo. I still remember, working at hush-puppy and the two walk down the shop.....nice people.
Carmencita Garcia, what you really wanted to know is her ethnicity, right? She's Chinese and so is her ex-husband. Singaporean is a nationality, it could be Indian, Malay, Chinese, etc.
Everyone points a finger at her ex-husband for being a player but as even she said it, Allan is a loving father. Who happened to be an ABC but ironically, takes better care of their kids while she is always out there putting her career first. As a so-called "strong, independent modern woman." 🙄 Too ambitious & also speculated to have secretly resented Allan's bigger success, it is not far-fetched to say that she married an ABC just to raise her social standing. Overly ambitious - that's a very stereotypical Hakka mindset, much like the late LKY. The Hakkas were traditonally the most looked down upon dialect group in the Han Chinese community & from what I gathered were just a very "unlikeable" bunch. Perhaps ostracisation is her driving force for putting her ambitions above her family & so, tried very hard she did. Too hard, in fact. Like in this vid. The way she controls her every demeanor to render an infallible, perfect image. Just like the late LKY did. Allan wouldn't have given a crap about all of that; he loves his family & his kids love him. Li-Lin lost big time, really.
although I cant understand what she is saying, she has been going in circles but if i put myself in her shoes, I would not like to talk about all this at all. Moreover, I always wanted to be with her.... hahahaha... i guess that would be in my dreams..
fortunate kids to have a mother like her...doesn’t trash their father for a moment...totally refreshing! Beautiful woman with a natural glow, must be her “honesty and kindness”...best of luck to all of them.
love her eloquence despite the situation.. pretty gracefully answered this interview she owes no one
I wish more Singaporeans speak proper english like her. Myself included. She speaks so eloquently and I really like a lady with class. Rooting for you li lin, all the best for your future endeavours.
No thanks.
I love Singlish
She's even adopting the stiff upperlip. Ridiculous ...!!!!
Very enlightened lady. At least she does not have to suffer when both are not happy which may manifest into bad behavior in front of the kids.
that's life and life goes on .. as long as one is happy
She is wise.
I like her very much! She can speak very beautiful English !💝
Bla blaa...even adopting the fake stiff upperlip
She speaks really well. i like the way she is able to articulate her feelings and express her thoughts really well.
I dont understand why people saying her arrogant. But everyone see things differently. From my point of view i think as she said she put kindness first, she has made this choice for everyone well being. She is a nice person with empathy. Tats all it matters.

What's wrong with her speaking in English?
Speak english means yaya papaya? Singaporeans are bilingual.

I never liked Wong Li Lin. But I can't remember why.
LOL at the people who are insecure and jealous of her good command of English and eloquence.

Don’t care other people personal life lah..the problem is social media...
#wonglilin
Waste of 6 min of my life. She didnt "open up" as per the video title. Just evaded all the questions and replied irrelevant answers. Poor interview.
Hakka women is strong .independent..

West Westwoodly. Sounds like a marriage counsellor talking here.. if not is someone who is in the same shoes like Li-Lin before.

Michael Lee Yup. Asian men.. Doesn't wanna marry a woman like that.. Strong willed. Sad..
Oh look, yet another Asian man intimidated by a strong willed woman. Little wonder why people think SG men are losers/pussies.
Where are the kids living then
