Be nice, guys! He’s a young dude probably making his first educational video… but I have to admit that the comment about giving him a cup of coffee or hiring machine gun Scotty Kilmer was pretty funny. Video dude, don’t take it seriously, we’re just busting your chops and really appreciate all the info you gave. Thanks!
Please help stop these contractors I was a carpenter never given protection or even warned of the dangers when dry drilling into concrete and dry cutting fiber cement board siding now I have scarring in my lungs and worry everyday I will die from silicosis with no hope no cure no treatments everyday across the subdivisions in there are people still dry cutting and dry drilling into concrete it has turned my entire life upside down and wish 1 person would have told me so I could have left immediately I reported this to osha and nothing was done the contractor still do it to this day. Please help stop this its killing a lot of us I don't understand why the contractors are not criminally charged for this
There are, and always have been, warnings all over the place about cutting these materials without proper protection. I did my first installation of fiber cement board 20 years ago, and cut every piece while wearing a respirator - not a face mask. Beyond that. It doesn’t take much of a brain to see that the cloud of dust created by cutting fiber cement board is hazardous. It’s simple: understand the risks of any process - welding, painting, sanding - and protect yourself. There are plenty of guys who are too cool to use protective gear. Some are dead, some are missing limbs, and all of them are stupid.
Dry cutting fiber cement board siding is fatal I had no idea never heard of silicosis and worry everyday I will die from it please spread awareness of this horrible disease.
Not the contractor who hosted this video. Lack of attention to detail and follow through... The video references an installation guide were the link is located below the video. Did out host provide this link... No. They posted the revenue generating portion and dropped the ball on the rest.Good Day and good luck
The average cost for a normal house is $13,000. Houses vary in size- measure the siding area on your house. To have a Hardie approved licensed professional remove your existing siding and install HardiePlank lap siding is approx $7 per square foot labor and materials, including window and door trim. Note: Hardie requires full OSB or plywood sheathing under the siding- many homes from the 70s-90s do not have full wall sheathing. Extra costs: installing sheathing, insulation repairs, electrical (electric meter disconnect), and exterior painting.
If you don't, then each lap after the first will be about 1/8th inch separation at the bottom...leaving it open to weather elements even when caulking which breaks down in short order. Place the starter as shown and caulk along the bottom. Every lap after will lay flat and tight.
@@dannybouy7948 Can you explain? How would leaving gaps in the starter strip keep your siding flat? Is that not there just to give the 1st course some profile?
You can buy individual planks at HD and Lowe's, but they come primed in this weird yellow color. You'll want to paint it after install with Behr or something of your choice that will match the home's exterior trim.
When nailing by hand use 2inch 11gauge hot galvanized nails ,that’s what we do at Habitat for Humanity. Then use small headed galvanized nails at the top layer so it minimizes seeing the head. As you won’t have a way to cover it besides paint and caulking. It is way easier to use a nail gun but it’s totally possible to hand nail!
I don't think that ? Can simply be answered online . A siding contractor/ home builder would need to measure the sq ft of siding and calculate need materials and or labor . He would also calculate needed trim materials, flashing etc

Been a while since I installed hardboard. Thanks for the refresher course.
Thank you very much Mr. Roboto.
IKR, LOL
Agreed! My thinking exactly 👍🏻
Where can I hire installers with white shirts and HardiHats?

Always install a rain screen system! Vertical strapping behind hardie for drainage and drying via stack effect.
Rain screen is political, not beneficial.
Rainscreen is extremely beneficial for airflow and drainage 100% but not necessary in low rainfall areas.
Eyyy it's the Dr. Pepper Ballpark here in Frisco Texas! Y'all based in DFW area?
Yep and there are lots of them! “Water is the enemy if it does not dry, it will rot! “
I see in many of these hardi installation videos no one uses adhesive; is that not recommended by James Hardi ?
Do you put the corners and edges up first? Do you have a video showing that?
yes
Dry cutting fiber cement board siding is fatal I had no idea never heard of silicosis and worry everyday I will die from it please spread awareness of this horrible disease.
A good friend of mine cut this stuff every day for decades with cigarette hanging out of his mouth, never once was he worried about it.
Think about everyone working the frac sand mines in Wisconsin or the oil fields is ND
How do you start on an angled area like over 2nd floor roof. 30 degree slope left to right.?
Thank you very much Mr Roboto....
Can you install Hardieplank on cement wall?
Hi hope you’re having a great day, I want to put this to my house but I’ll like to know how much it would cost to have someone professional to do it ?

In 2022, via BidEnflation, the cost is 14/ft^2...
Is there a program that works with Eagle View to give you a material list for Hardie???
What type of nails?
🤔 shouldn’t you have ventilation behind the hardie plank boards?
Nope it's not vinyl. It's looked at like it's brick
Please help me with a colour of the plank used in this video. Apreciate it
Navajo Beige (Simply Beige)
Lol zombi i just drove off a bridge laughing 😂
I wouldn't gap the starter strip, makes a bug/ ant highway.

is it sold as an individual plank or as a bundle of 12?

What kind of nail to use if you want to nail manually? 1.5 roofing nail?
I wouldn't use hand nails, Hardie breaks easily

@@EHFHHOMEOWNERSSERVICES thanks. Little late though. I rented a nail gun much easier.
Why use hardie board instead of regular siding?
It’s way better, siding will last 30 years or more. Fire resistant. Looks better. More expensive though.
what does colonial mean when it comes to hardie siding, does it refer to the grain and if so what is the difference between colonial and non colonial
Any idea where I can get the clamps for the one man job? TIA
guapo405 was just thinking the same thing.
Let me know if you find them!

Will 15 gauge finish nails e good? No 1/2" insulation behind hardie?
Thanks for the video great info
Is it paint on the siding don't last very long it peels off no
David Ikemeier no
The concrete peels off the Hardie Siding in a Fades less than 5 years
@John C 15 year paint warranty, 30 year on the boards themselves, paint the cut edges always
Give the zombie a cup of coffee, cut the back round music, and let him just talk. Or just hire scotty Kilmer.
He probably lost his mind in the butt joint 😂
Scotty would just stagger around drunk slurring his speech for 20 minutes then scream, "REVV UP YOUR ENGINES!" then fall down. That guy is so awesome.
😂😂😂😂
Scotty would move his hands around and we all would understand how to install siding 😂
Agreed on all counts.
Hardiboard is a good product and the guy was clear as any AI bot. He imparted the info spot on. 👍
He's surprisingly wooden for a dude pumping up Hardie cement boards
haha! such a stick
You mention a link to download the installation instructions, don't see it.
Looking at the camera like 💀

Hi, how much does it cost to remove and install a new fiber cement siding in 3 story home 2000 sq ft
19k
I don't think that ? Can simply be answered online . A siding contractor/ home builder would need to measure the sq ft of siding and calculate need materials and or labor . He would also calculate needed trim materials, flashing etc
DUDE.. BLINK !
In time, butt joints can distort and look like shit.
1/8th inch gap and factory edge will prevent that with some finish nails
Nice
Here's a guy who has never installed hardieboard siding in his life
Next time I have insomnia...
This guy reminds me of Joe Biden giving a speech. Lol
so some thing
Bueller?.... Bueller?
Gaaa! This guy is a zombie!
Párese un robot..
Any info on face nailing the last course??? That is key to the job!!
Bogus, halfbaked video.
Just do it.
