I think what I love the most about BA is how it keeps adapting. There's all sorts of weird cards that people manage to integrate into the deck despite BA monsters being so theoretically restrictive.
For sure. That's what sets Burning Abyss apart from all of the other decks throughout Yu-Gi-Oh! history. No other deck has remained competitively relevant for as long nor gone through such dramatic evolution to adapt to powercreep and meta shifts. Konami has had to throw it a few bones (Fiendish Rhino Warrior and Beatrice most notably), but it's lived through a plethora of hits on the ban list and a complicating rule change. It's really fascinating how a supposedly xenophobic deck has found uses for so many different cards. Furthermore, it has achieved this while having a relatively fair and interactive design, making it one of the best designed archetypes ever (in my opinion, of course). There hasn't been a deck quite like it, and I'm not sure there will be another one for quite a while
For full transparency: I played pretty poorly at the regional and made this instead. I had a final exam and a combined 8+ hours of packing and driving through traffic and rain the day before, so I wasn’t really awake at the tournament XD. When I’ve given a list a fair chance, I’ll share it with you in a deck profile. In the meantime, I thought this video was probably just as good if not better to make. Hope you enjoy!
I've been a Defrag drag. hipster since release !! also a big relvover fan. when I did play 3 scarm, farfa and rhino, it did clean up my grave pretty well as an extender. great card
Love your videos man. Curious is also amazing thing with those extenders. It's like live beatrice which sends snow + 3 fodders for that card. Also having beatrice at her pointing zone makes it trigger again if you activate beatrice effect during opponent's turn. What do you think about Steam the Cloak as tech card? Also, do you think if i am going second should i Play BLS or just drop it and play DAD instead.? Did you try Mathematician? It literally sends any burning abyss to GY so if you kinda brick with drawing cir you can just send Libic and it's also 1 card Dante ( by sending edge imp to GY)
Steam the Cloak will be good when Needlefiber comes out, but until then isn’t particularly good. BLS and DAD have different pros and cons which makes it hard to choose. I’ve personally really liked BLS but see the appeal of DAD. Mathematician is a neat tech card but I don’t think Burning Abyss needs more normal summons. It’s maybe a one-of at most.
What do you think about Crane crane and Mathematician (send libic or edge imp saber) ? Ok they can be veiler but for me they are pratically Tour guide level.
@@Yamaoroshi Crane Crane I personally cut when I moved away from handtraps to Kaijus in the main deck. In a big handtrap format Crane Crane is amazing.
The card itself has been kinda bricky, but you also have to consider the targets. In my own testing, Dark Armed Dragon is borderline worth playing and Levianeer is suboptimal this format. To run Eclipse Wyvern you need at least 2 targets and neither one is that amazing. I would rather stick to Hydralander and BLS (mayyyyybe the one DAD over BLS) and not play Eclipse Wyvern.
@@akhileshprayag3553 Yeah, I figured. I also really like the first combo, but I am 101% sure that Sorc is getting banned, so not even bothering with that. ;)
@@Yamaoroshi I find the space in main deck quite tight but I can understand why playing it at 2 as you have no other way to dump it besides Dante and if it never touches the grave so doesn't matter for orbital but as you said opening both sucks
2 Dante 1 Bea 1 pilgrim 1 Phoenix 1 cerberus 1 unicorn 1 trisbaenea 1 decode 1.underclock and the rest depends on your build Edit: borrelsword is a must have imo.
how about (in the 1st combo) using reprodocus and gallis for sorceress and having her pointing to dante so you can sp. summon a warrior from deck? i dont know, like... malicious!! XD
Level 3 DARK Fiend so can be specialed by Tour Guide, by Libic or milled by Rhino. It can reccur itself each turn by placing a card to the top of the deck. Amazing card personally.
To play the deck competitively I think that 2 Tsuchinoko and 2 Jackaloupe are pretty staple now. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t cut corners if you accept the deck will be worse. You can fill in with a bunch of the other cards/engines like White and Black Dragons.
@@Yamaoroshi looks like very one agrees it a "must have", still they don't convince at all,(that's the only cards I left in my BA deck) let's see how the meta evolves, thank you very much!
The fact that they they are level 3 monsters allows you to turbo into dante easier, (danger + hand trap, danger + gallis, danger + danger). One pretty good application is making dante with 2 NON BA cards then using 1 BA (if you only have one in your hand) once you have dante to finish off into Beatrice. They also make good extenders to go into borrelsword or to trigger effects like topologic bomber dragon or topologic trisbaena, and they get their discard effect when discarded from any knightmare monster which is a plus. Their draw effect lets you dig deeper into your deck and potentially draw one of your boss monsters or hand traps or another extender on your turn which can help you secure a game.
Lightpulsar has interested me for awhile. I just wish there was a level 5 or higher Dark Dragon to summon with its third effect lol. Nonetheless, both are pretty cool level 6 options.

Love your content mate! Been a BA player for a long time now and I really love to see how the Deck evolves. Keep up the good work 🤙🏼
Can you publish a decklist? I Need It so much to study better this format
Useful video anyway

I'm your 500th sub. Anyway, thanks for this video.
Amazing relevant and well made content!
Great video, would be awesome to see more BA stuff
Thanks mate. It really helped me a lot
What do you think of mixing Zombie World with BA? BA just as an engine for beatrice to get in your balerdroch or mezuki's?
Genex birdman has been and ok tech for me
bring summon sorceress pointing to dante sp summon malicious from deck huzza! xD

What monster was special summon when yazi was destroyed?
Mare Mare
Definitely recommend destrudo. Destrudo opens up so many combos and otk with yazi.
Mare Mare in?
What do you think about Crane crane and Mathematician (send libic or edge imp saber) ? Ok they can be veiler but for me they are pratically Tour guide level.
They’re okay, but I don’t think Burning Abyss particularly needs more normal summons. Running one copy of one or the other wouldn’t be bad, though.
@@Yamaoroshi Crane Crane I personally cut when I moved away from handtraps to Kaijus in the main deck. In a big handtrap format Crane Crane is amazing.
I thought farfa died when fiendish warrior rhino is on the field because it's not a burning abyss monster?
Would you not summon Sabres or Scarm with Sorc in the first combo? He's always a recursion.
Farfa is a form of interruption if Bea is act during your opp turn. Thus it is better.
You mentioned Eclipse Wyvern shortly, but do you feel like it is a worthy inclusion in the deck or too bricky?

Would you still main Malicious?
I’ve drifted away from it, but it’s definitely still playable. I’m of the opinion that there are just better cards now.
How many Destrudos would you recommend playing for the Yazi combo?
It's just a 1 of
Since hydra is better

Nope.
Do we have to always play the danger engine? Since we lost malicious, there isnt another cheaper engine that doesnt worth more than 130 euros? 😀

That’s correct.
