  • Behringer UB-XA is the new analog synthesizer that is a modern reproduction inspiration of the legendary Oberheim OB-Xa from the late 80's.
So, this synthesizer can really sound big!
    Little abut me;
My name is Mitch and the music is a big part of my life.
I program synthesizers and other instruments for almost 4 decades now.
Also, I like my other thing however, on this channel I will share everything related to the music and Instruments.
    About this sound demonstration;
In this video, I decided to show the sound capabilities of UB-Xa.
This synth in my opinion has very promising success in near future.
I tried to demonstrate, how versatile and usable the sound can be on this synth.
After while of programming patches and messing with the matrix setting, I realize that Behringer UB-Xa have a great potential and can really sound beyond its own design.
Yes, of course the sound is not gonna be exactly the same, but the character of the particular sound will be close if you spend time in program it right.
This synth really can sound very close to Oberheim OB-Xa and beyond.
UB-Xa also can sounds like something else as well.
This is passible because of extra parameters inside of UB-Xa (matrix-mod)
The 16 voices of polyphony as well the polyphonic after touch experience also helps expressiveness to next level.
In my experience UB-Xa sounds great!
Here is my arguments for who bashing Behringer and their products.
Personally, I appreciate Behringe however, I don't agree with everything what they are doing.
I like low prices but, I don’t care about all marketing philosophy and all their other products that much.
I also, don't worship the brand or any other products instead, I simply appreciate some of them and for what they are.
For me is always simply about the end result of sound.
I always choose the instrument that sound good.
It is not just simply because UB-Xa is a modern replica, of OB-Xa.
From the Behringer brand besides UB-Xa I have other product like, Deep Mind 12 and Pro-800.
As for the Deep Mind 12 or Pro-800, there quality is good.
Salt in my experience those two products also sounds great.
I guess, I am lucky that don't have any technical problems with those so far.
I have major problem however description, when people or even Behringer referencin the own words as a clone at replica.
The Behringer, should refer to their own products maybe as inspiration of modern version take replica, but not the replica.
Thea are more like inspired interpretation of a modern replica product. nat the copy of real thing.
In order to call something or replica or clone, the product should be exactly the same as original one-to-one. I think Beringer should clarity there product as greatly inspired or whatever they are attempting go after to make it.
Besides, most of the Behringer product have extra features, so those can’t be really a clones, weight?
Of course this synth it definitely can sound great as well close to the real thing.

Here’s my controversial opinion about Beringer product.

For all, I don’t praise any bread, I simply enjoy some of them and pursuit the great sound.
If I use Behringer or other synth brand, that should always come down what I intend for to make my music.
I have big synth collection and most of them besides Beringer original.
So please give me a break and let’s stop bashing the brands or other products.
Just like in life, none of the other synths product are truly perfect, right?
Let’s appreciate the musical instrument for them what they are.
Of course, it’s not about just something without first having red or watch reviews.
If something works and sounds good, why are you trying to punish and buy somebody who is just share their music?
Like I mentioned before, this is about individual choice and perspective and what I intend to use not you.
    Peace!

Disclaimer: I'm not paid or sponsor by Behringer or others.
I simply have passion for great sound, talent and music in general.
    Thanks for checking out.

Great sounds and nice playing! I got my UB-Xa a few weeks ago and I think it is a wonderful synth. Still learning to use it and its sound capabilities!

That synth is a tone monster. Definitely want one. It's about time analog was affordable. Hoping they make the JP-8 clone.

I remember when they first talked about this it was ment to be under a 1000 pounds but I think it about 1800.but still isn't bad .
A jp8 is out of the question because they couldn't reproduce the electronic that's why the original is so expensive, although you digitally Arturia do a vts that's great.

Based on my personal experience that is for about 3 weeks now, the UB-Xa is overall definitely great sounding analog, for price and what it is.
The original sound presets are not the greatest, maybe 20% are usable and 10% sounds great.
So to make this synth really shine, you have to really make your own custom patches to sound awesome.
As far as overall value, as far as retro analog synth.
So, this instrument can gives you pretty close sound of OB-Xa and beyond
That is only fraction what the real thing cost is!

Mitch I have the UB-XA as well and I agree it can do many personalities. I been in the Synth game for 45 years have many synthesizers and have played most all of them. This UB-XA sound great and 16voices. Very few out here with 16 voices and I own them all. The UB-XA , Prologue16 , Moog One , Rev 2 16 my favorites.

Yes , I agree with you completely, the UB-Xa sounds great!
I also have also Manny new and vintage analog synths, including the Prophet Rev-2 ,Korg Prolog, Moog Sub37, OB-6, Juno X and more.
The Behringer UB-XA just sounds good, even when covered to those synths.

Planning on doing a demo with the new firmware?

Awesome sounds and playing! I love mine too. There are a few minor things I hope Behringer corrects in firmware updates, but I am blown away by what this synth is for the cost. I can finally live the dream of making/playing some of my favorite sounds I heard in 80s music growing up!

As a professional sound designer I will say this: it’s not a bad sounding instrument. I’m shocked that they paid millions to copy the original but it still misses the mark in 3 key ways. 1. High End Clarity. 2. Separation 3.Growl. I would venture you that this actually sounds worse than the Arturia software emulations. Great playing though!

    • @synthmaniak
      @synthmaniak  3 месяца назад

Yes, I agree ,The UB-Xa sounds good , however the synth have few flows or limitations, like no FX.
In my experience the UB-Xa with detail programming, can sounds great!
As for OBXa- V from Arturia 8, just for comparison can sound even wider sonically, but I don't know if is better for sure?
Of corse OBXa-V as software have more futures then even classic OB-Xa and UB-Xa.

This was the first bitimbral synth with preset memory (which the Prophet did have).
It was revolutionary at the time.
So now this iteration has 16 voices and poly aftertouch.
Better than vintage and very affordable.
No effects keeps the price down.
I really want one to pair with my Kronos.
It will force me to finally learn how to connect external synth to Kronos excellent effects.
And also finally control Kronos with polyphonic aftertouch. Its many synth engines respond to it. Kronos aftertouch is too hard for me, like Roland it requires too much effort.
Plus, metal body synth with wooden side panels will look good above my Kronos.
Plus, cheaper than Hydrasynth with same voice count.
    I really want one.

      Hallo,
I have the Sequential (Deve Smith) Prophet Rev-2, and Sequential OB-6 module.
So, just for synths comparison and so is Arturia 8, Prophet 5V/ OB-XAV, the Behringer UB-Xa in my opinion sounds great!

It’s the end of April 2024 as a comment. The synthesizer I may get before the month is out is the ASM Hydrasynth Explorer. If I figure out how to rake in some extra clams by this autumn, I can imagine myself finally getting this model.

Hi Mitch! Apart from the sounds from The Synth King, yours are the best sounds for the UB-Xa so far. It would be very generous, if you could share them in one form or another.👍

As for the sounds, I used in this demo mist of my own sounds.
      But you are correct, LOL
I also pursued the patches from the Synth King, with I modify as a good starter, just before I program my own sounds from scratch.

Weil das kein Original sein sollte. Die Milchpianos sind fantastisch. Die Sounds sind für mich wirklich gut, außer dem,wo kriegt man 16 voices für 1000€?
Durch preamp klingt er noch analoger 😊
