Hello, I'm Bae Jin-joo, a reporter for the South Korean media outlet News Penguin. I'm just writing about the recent U.S. government-announced protection measures for Gunnison Sage-Grouse, and I was wondering if I could use your RUclips video. Is it okay to capture it and use it? I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
Fascinating! There are at least two males and two females in the video. Is that unusual? Or do they gather on a common courting ground for this ritual?
This is so cool, but I can't help but think he's saying, "Dang, if I could just get my comb-over to stay in place, I might be able to get a date with one of these gals."
Actually, hunters have a vested interest in keeping their population as large and as healthy as possible (I'm not a hunter, I just know them). Natural Gas companies, and housing developments are mostly to blame. Disease is another one. Even barbed wire hung up by ranchers a long time ago can claim a few lives.
Not true - 1-3 is bag limit for most states. Additionaly, hawks, eagles, owls, coyotes, racoons, and their other natural predators do exactly the same thing, and even more. Hunters are only allowed to hunt during a certain time of year, in certain places -- try enforcing that with other parts of the food chain. Falconers who hunt Sage Grouse almost exclusively are also some of their most devoted advocates. Use your furnace, though, and you might finance their habitat destruction.
Dannie Spokes These birds happen to make these noises when air enters it’s chest. The real reason is because it’s chest expands quickly. So no, It’s not a voice over. :)
No, you're right, they don't. I'd turn in violators - and I certainly hope you'd turn in the "morons" you fish next to. Also, you seem to have bought into the paradigm that yelling at people (in person/online) fixes things. My experience indicates the opposite is true. Unless you are willing to address all of the challenges facing the species, it makes no sense to lay the blame at the feet of a few poachers. I recommend you read "Falconer on the Edge" - it's tremendously educational.
I am 73 years old & have never heard of this BEAUTIFUL, AWESOME bird! Sharing this on Facebook! I pray people aren't shooting this thing of beauty!
I've got 4 mounted and stuffed. Human race at the top baby!
I can only imagine just waking up one morning, and then hearing the distant sounds of bubbles. That would be a dream come true.

If these birds or any other species disappears we are all at a loss.
