Just seen SIMO in Cincinnati a few weeks ago. One of the best bands I have ever seen. Also, one of the most humble, 30 seconds after the show I was standing talking to the band for 20 minutes straight.
JD Simo is one of the best blues players of the younger generations imo. He has tone, soul and attitude. It's right there! Much more inspired and intuitive than lickmonster Bonamassa for ex. I've this on replay and I'm not much a fan of those GAS videos. This makes me want to buy THIS guitar instantly, to make it sound like a Kay at best ;)
Maaan i always love to hear simo play. I my book this guy is one of the best new blues generation player. He don't need a bunch of pedals. Just a guitar and amp. Nothing more
Bell mood e bella chitarra! Mi piace perché la Es-175 ha un suono molto "classico" ma al contempo, sembra riuscire a "tirare fuori" in modo molto naturale la personalità del chitarrista.

Paul G. Unless they used a room microphone, which they didn't, I'm guessing the close mic used wouldn't pick up that much room reverb. There's just too much reverb signal in the sound for it to be the room, sounds more like a tank?
I don't think he's trying to recreate what was played in 58. It's simply giving this gorgeous instrument a good workout with Blues, Bepop, Jazz and Funk links.
Love the Meters vibe to start. 175s are some of the funkiest guitars, but always seem to get associated more with jazz.
That just might be because... um... Funk has an association with Jazz.
If R J thinks you good ... you good.
Steve howe from yes favorito guitar
True and they always sound DIFFERENT. Kinda woody and clean
While es and les paul can be confused, this sound is distinct
Such a soulful player. This guy is the real deal. He's got the classic sound without blatantly ripping off anyone. Love this cat!
JD Simo's playing is a gift to the world.
The moment he goes on to the bridge pickup...
Oh yees
And winds the volume knob up to burn...
It looked like he was pleasantly surprised too haha
@@okaytastic6691 I went back to see it again. He looked genuinely surprised 🤣
:)

Excellent! Glad you managed to get JD back in. One of my favourite players!

Best play via ES175!! Thank you DJ Simo!!
what a player what a sound and the bridge pickup kills

Awesome guitar player with expression and heart, I'd take you over Bonamassa any day
Bridge pup sounds huge!!
Yes sir......The bridge pickup is where it is at.
No comparison. Total original and badass.
One of your best demos! And, of course, that's a sweet guitar.
JD rocking the bath robe. Nice
the dude abides
LOL - indeed he is. :)
Awesome. Man I was waiting for the verb
The Dude abides!

JD has such a powerfull vibrato.
One of these guitars is what played the riff of Don't Fear the Reaper, paired with Gibson SG that was Buck's personal favorite
ES-175 is my dream guitar, I hope I'be able to afford it one day
Get a Greco!
Mankind can rock !
Yay! These make me happy.
Didn’t I hear somewhere that JD was recording a blues album?
Wonderful setup...Please advise what reverb you are using!
Sounds pretty good!

That is a sweet rig
What a great player.
Of his costume and stance, I picture him sitting at the base of a waterfall as he immerses himself in the study of the Jedi way.
JD looking more and more like Skywalker on that island. It works well for him I think!
Gotta say..🤙 enjoyed it! Like Robben Ford/Johnny A have a rocking and a rollin cousin.
Never thought I'd see the dude lay down some licks 😂
Fantastic!
What a player 😮
Great guitarist !
Wonderful!
Best vibrato in the business
The moment that bridge pickup screamed I was like gtfo here you can't sound that good bruh!
Love this!
that Princeton has some nice breakup tones
Haha must be a pedal ... sounds good though.
@@EthanCastilloGoalie I don't think so, he's getting gainier and cleaning it up by using the volume knob
J.D knows TONE!
Class!
I see an SG Custom in the back waiting to be played.
Oh dude, it's awesome
Damn ! That was killer !
Holy shit that reverb!
What amp is that? Please :-)
Idk if I should get a 355 or 175 for my first hollow/es guitar :(
What gauge strings? Are they round wound or flat?
Man that bridge is hot. What I would do for that guitar..
Rocking!!!!!!
THIS IS THE BEST
I bought one, played it for a week, then brought it back, like I always do.
Wow!!!
Dayummmm.
the sound is just glorious.
Nice reverb, where from haha
metalmulisha0143 the room?

Did anyone else think that he had a click track but then realize the mic was just picking up his foot?
No one can touch JD
What kind of amp is JD using here?
@@justinlangley9529 Thank you very much..
@@justinlangley9529 Thank you very much
a stellar player but from the looks of things I think JD is getting ready to go off the grid.
Damn, son.
That is some serious, fucking picking and grinning…
can anyone identify the amp my eyesight is shit it looks like a fender something
Knock that SH%T off JD or ima have to go down there and buy that thing!
I don't get it. My '58 sounds nothing like this. Must be something in that 2nd pickup that mine doesn't have. I'm sure that's gotta be it. ;)
How are you running your amp? That plays a huge factor in this tone as well.
That or the pick. Or the strings. Or the cables. Its always the cables:))). I´m off to buy some cables now...
Got that Fillmore East thing goin on……
WOW that guitar howl's..................................
Get the man a white russian and a giant steak.
Boss
Turned up way too loud for the microphonics of that neck pickup. I
Nope.
Never knew Jim Morrison can play....!
They could have let him get out of his dressing gown first!!! A play of this calibre should be shown more respect....
Tone for days
JD plays the Donuts as well as he does the Guitar ; )
Nice..improve n jam n chord vap...
looks like jim morrison
That is some heavy version of jim for sure.
great guitarist. but in 58 nobody played like that. imo a little too rough......
I don't think he's trying to recreate what was played in 58. It's simply giving this gorgeous instrument a good workout with Blues, Bepop, Jazz and Funk links.
And nobody played the way Clapton played on the Beano album back when the ‘Bursts were made either. So what?
Why to play in this way that kind of guitar ? It could be better to use a 335. If you buy an es 175 please, play jazz.
Because he can and its sounds great and different from a 335? That guitar is no stranger to Blues, Rock, Rockabilly and Funk.
Sounds same as my jazz guitar mine is made by vintage
