  • Were Māori made in Taiwan? Those claims have been repeated by a Taiwanese geneticist who says it is probable Māori and Aboriginal Taiwanese share a common ancestor. Those views were recently aired in a special report by Tim Lambourne who is of mixed Chinese and Māori heritage. Tim travelled to Taitung in the far flung island of Taiwan to see if the evidence that Māori were made there stacks up.

in Filipino Tagalog Eye=Mata, Ears=Tainga. It's Part of the Austronesian Language Family. The natives Taiwanese is more closer to Filipinos than Maori though. Considering if they sail south they will land first in Luzon Philippines. Modern Urban Filipinos shares 80% of the Taiwanese Aborigines DNA while Maori which are heavily mixed with Melanesian only has around 40-50%. In the movie Moana, Moana ancestors are basically the Taiwanese Aborigines.

There's a DNA study on native chickens w/c found that native chickens from Micronesia and Polynesia have their ancestors from the Philippines. Since chickens cant fly long distances, scientists conclude that they must be brought by the people and hence, native peoples of Micronesia (Palau, Micronesia, Kiribati, Guam, Northern Marianas, Nauru, Marshall Islands) and Polynesia (Tonga, New Zealand, Hawaii, Tuvalu, Samoa, Easter Island, etc.) are descendants of Filipinos.

Polynesians visited South America long before the whites went over, There is some relics found in Chile that are of Polynesian origin that were found in the possession of the native Chileans and another thing that backs it up is the sweet potato which is indigenous to South America but was was found being cultivated by many Polynesian tribes in the Pacific islands long before the Columbus exchange.

hmm... no, Easter Island had 2000 Poly slaves kidnnaped by peruvian slave traders in 1800AD. sorry to break your fantasy, but yes indeed one group fanned out to caribbean in AD, one fanned out west to Madagascar. there are thousands of island in Pacific, a lot were settled by their cousins, but not all made it to today, several islands' poly went extinct , two caused by european settlers' Diseases. Mayan, Aztec religions derived from OLMEC, and OLMEC came from ancient China, bronze age 1700BCE China already had contact with Ancient Egyptians. My ancestors from south of Yangtze River, we are the Snake cult para-austronesians, we invented Iron Compass in 200BCE ancient China, and 4000 yrs before that, some of our distant relatives already fanned out and settled all over SouthEast Asia, subsequently Pacific with Star Compass. Taiwanese natives were originally from South East China in the coastal regions of Fujian province. One of the most recent genetic studies have found a genetic connection between the Austronesians of Taiwan and ancient peoples of Northern China. This genetic link with peoples of Northen China helps to explain the extensive cultivation of foxtail millet by the Austronesians in Taiwan and Austronesians in Northern Philippines. Chinese researchers recently conducted genetic studies and found that a predominant male lineage among Austranesians had its origin in ancient North China where foxtail millet was first cultivated 11000 years ago. It was proposed that the ancient peoples of North China migrated southwards from Shandong along the coast and intermarried with the neolithic people living in South Eastern China before moving to Taiwan. Based on my own research I have concluded Austronesians share an important genetic link to the ancestors of the Manchurian ethnic Chinese minority who belong to the Tungusic people of North China and Northeast Siberia. I'm originally from the Philippines and I am providing an interesting linguistic link below:
    The word for "father" for

Māori have multiple ways to say eye,
      Most common is Karu
      Then konohi
      And then Mata.
We have a thing called Matariki, it's our Maori new year. it's a time when we look up to the stars and see what is in store for us in the coming year. Matariki is short for 'ngā Mata O te ariki' which translate to 'The eyes of the god'
Matapihi is the word for window

Nathaniel Rowe Well that's half true half false, some of the mountainous tribes of the phillipines are closely related to the polynesians, but the polynesians are mostly a mix of the native taiwanese/certain philippino tribes and some melanesian.

    • @Rongowhakaata
      @Rongowhakaata 7 лет назад +6

Quinlan Primitive Skills Aware of that. But the misconception is now that some Filipino are trying to claim they're Polynesian as we know them today; which they are not. They are Asian. One example of this, is their country trying lay claim to Polynesian as a whole because of few vague connections!
Another is them trying to say they are Hawaiian and that the culture that Hawaiians derived over he last few hundreds is somewhat there's too; which it is not.
This is the kind of attitude I don't agree with and the sooner that some people put context into the belief we can all agree that Māori are Māori and Filipino are Filipino.

Whini Urutawhana Hohepa except there is no South American in Maori, it stops in Easter Island. Also......South Americans are ASIAN IN APPEARANCE before mixing with Spanish. Where did the Native Americans come from, 20k years ago?
It all leads back to East Asia.

+Raquel Robles, Polynesians initially migrated from west to east. Then North and later South. So from Savai'i (Samoa), then Havai'i (Raiatea, Tahiti), Hawaii (USA), 'Avaiki (now Cook Island) then Hawaiki (Aotearoa) the ancestral home of Te Maori. Hawaiki is a combination of Havai'i (Tahiti) and 'Avaiki (Cook island) Eastern Polynesia, where Te Maori o Aotearoa migrated from. In te reo Maori o Aotearoa, North is Tai Tokerau and South is Tonga, these names acknowledges their "ancestral links" beyond Eastern Polynesia to Western Polynesia. Tokelau (North) and Tonga (South) are in Western Polynesia and in the center is what was known in Western Polynesian history as Lagi, Sky. Our Western Polynesian academics refer/interpret Lagi as Samoa. Samoa was the residence of Tagaloa (Samoan), Ta'aroa (Tahiti), Kanaloa (Hawaii), Tangaroa ('Avaiki) and Tangaroa (Aotearoa). Also note the word Mao'i (Samoa), Ma'ohi (Tahiti), Maoli (Hawaii), Maori (Niue, Avaiki & Aotearoa) all mean "indigenous to". Interesting history, proud to be Polynesian!!

Taiwan nowadays only 3% is native. The rest is chinese. Taiwan doesnt have right to called taiwan, they should called chinese taipei. They used mandarin and chinese name. But dont wanna called china. How ridicule. If taiwan wanna be a country start respect native people, use formosan language not mandarin, and used proud native name, not chinese name.

The Out Of Taiwan theory has been debunked due to recent archeological evidence which already back up DNA and linguistic evidence that the Philippines are the Austronesian ground zero of human expansion into the Pacific, and the rest of South East Asia. We are the originators, and Hawai'iki! All Polynesians can trace their ancestry on their maternal side back to one single Igorot woman in the Philippines. Our tattoo tools can be carbon dated as far back as 4000 years ago, long before Polynesia was settled. All aboriginal tribes of Taiwan are closely related to our northern most tribes in Northern Philippines where they once migrated from in canoes. Naga of Nagaland East India are Austronesian, the Cham from Southern Vietnam are Austronesian, Imerina who 1st settled Madagascar in East Africa came from Borneo, and in turn the Malay and Indonesians migrated out from the Philippines. Then resettling Central Philippines through back-migration prior to colonization. Even Thai once sailed from Taiwan, their ancient homeland, before reaching mainland Asia/CHina, were their language changed from Austronesian and into Kadai after heavy influence from Sino Tibetan and Chinese.

Some of our woman came from Taiwan when we visited and stayed for awhile to rest up. As we left we had already inter-graded with their woman so some of their woman came with us. It's because there are a lot of our female woman who carry their dna. Most of our men don't carry it. If some of the Taiwanese carry our male dna then that means some of our men stayed back there I'd like to know if the know the story of the Parata The whirl pool in about the middle of the pacific.

Polynesian are ethe least educated people or must hate Chinese taking jobs in NZ. They think ancient Taiwan look like Chinese today and they rather look like mutt Mexican mix white instead of doing science and learn DNA testing to trace they are from an ancient group of people with very distinct look and unique.

They are from Cook Islands, but they’re ancient ancestors left Taiwan like 5000 years ago. The Austronesian expansion happened in different stages, and if you go back far enough you’ll find that the ancestors of the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Madagascar, Micronesia and Polynesia can trace their ancestry back to Taiwan. Many Melanesians speak Austronesian languages but don’t trace much of their genetic heritage from south east Asia
