１０月になってしまいました。１０月の旭川は、冬支度の時期です。この月に、初霜、初氷、初雪と冬の全てがやってきます。庭の草花も、ほとんどが頑張って咲いているという感じですが、シュウメイギクやホトトギス、そしてサラシナショウマなどは、花畑を最後に飾る花々です。昆虫特に蜂たちは、来年に向けての蜜を集めに、花々の間を飛び回っています。そんな花畑も来年の春に向けて少しずつ終わった草花の除去や木の枝の伐採など行っています。

It's already October. In Asahikawa in October, it's time to prepare for winter. This month brings all the winter elements: the first frost, the first ice, and the first snow. Most of the flowers in the garden seem to be blooming well, but the Japanese anemone, the toad lily, and Cimicifuga simplex "Sarashinasyouma" are the last flowers to decorate the flower garden. Insects, especially bees, are flying around among the flowers to gather nectar for next year. Little by little, the flower garden is being cleared of dead flowers and tree branches are being cut down in preparation for next spring.
