I love the look of this drive, hopefully they are pretty reliable overall. Definitely much quieter compared to the stepper drives IBM had that always fail. Super pleasing to listen to the head sounds even if they are not very loud, spindle motor isn't too loud either and considering the age really is surprising the bearings haven't turned to wake-up alarms like some later Maxtor drives did : ))
@@douro20 Sweet! I'm a sucker with the sounds of these, but a modern drive certainly seems to be less of a headache. PS/2's are such fun, so I'm wishing you well with installing that sometime in the future :)
As far as I'm aware, there wasn't! I'm not 100% sure of that though. The WDA-L80 is quite a bit different as you might have seen (and also single platter), so I'm currently assuming this is as far as this design went... Gotta love the lack of documentation for stuff like this!

That spindle motor runs nice & loud! I actually like them a little loud 😀
Nice drive, hopefully it is more reliable than the WDI-325Q it replaced
Hoping for the same! God, the WDI-325Q isn't something I'd want my worst enemies to deal with...
I'm looking to put a more modern drive in my PS/2 Model 25...it will be a 2.5-inch drive powered from the XTIDE card.

0:40 BEEP (REPEATED CLUNK NOISE)
Was there a 2 platter version of this drive?
