Yes. What is worse is when parents give their children unsupervised access to these watercraft.
Just like the boys that turned the water into a trash dump. Thank God they were busted. Let's hope that their parents are not so entitled that they get a high priced lawyer so that boy can walk. It was just like a car full of teenagers.
Yeah not smart to ski in that area.

Everyone that owns a boat has more money than brains 😂
I live down in the Florida Keys in a day does not go by that I don't see one of these monster boats flying past tearing up the bottom while the driver holds his cell phone and looked over his shoulder at the people in the back of the boat. These boats are covering 100 ft in less than 2 seconds and if they turn their head for 6 seconds they can go 300 to 500 ft. They just aren't paying attention, they feel totally safe in their giant fiberglass tanks, they don't see the manatees they don't see the small boats and they don't see the people as a problem. In fact they just don't see them. There should be strict licensing and registration for vessels that are capable of destroying the environment and taking human life . These people should be banned from the water for life
I see the same daily , living beachfront in South Palm Beach. Something needs to change for sure, licensing, etc. Stay safe!
The world we live in nothing's gonna change it's gonna get worse it's every man for himself especially in the water
Who should be banned? People with powerboats? I hate when something messed up happens and some yahoo jumps up and wants to start banning things.

Agreed. I have a boat that size and you likely wouldn't even feel anything. That's no excuse for not paying closer attention to the water around you. When I see someone being towed behind a boat on a tube or skis, my eyes are glued to them making sure nobody falls off. That being said, an accident like this could happen to anyone. We have all at one time or another been distracted by something. It's likely the person that killed this girl will also never be the same again either. It's horrible for everyone.
They operate thier boats the way they operate their cars just morons
Exactly... People with criminal intent or trying to cover up might just get rid of that boat rather than parking it right out front of the house...

That is what needs to be determined. A boat that size could obscure the view of someone in the water, however boaters need to pay attention as to what is around them. If you see a boat pulling a skier and then the skier disappears, you know they are down somewhere.

Sounds like a dangerous area to water ski in and possibly both boat drivers not paying enough attention.
I hate to say it but a head bobbing up and down in the waves is very hard to see from a boat that may have been doing 50 mph or more. That's why I always held my ski up high whenever I went down and other boats were around. I would say that they probably could not see her and never felt the hit, traveling at the speeds that a boat like that with probably at least 400 hp might have been traveling. What people don't want to realize is that both boat owners are at fault, South Florida is not what it used to be, population is is way out of control, everyone want to own a boat, but many don't have the knowledge of what it takes to own a boat. First off, skiing is not meant for most of south Florida, especially now and days, the overcrowded of vessels is disgusting, I wouldn't ski know and days in South Florida waters even if you paid me to, between the amount of boats and nut job jet ski owners it has become a jungle. Both boat owners are at fault, the one who was pulling the girl on skis should have known better as well as the driver who run over the girl.
Very true!!!
Nowhere in SoFlo is a good place to ski - I'm on the water often, twice this week and I've never seen anyone skiing. I was like, people ski here? NEVER would I!!! Not sure there's even enough water real estate to really ski.

She was Ran Over By an SATAN Cultist.....
So many people are so quick to place judgement and blame the boat owner......what about the accountability of the girls boat driver? Or the look out? Was there a flag up? Does the alleged driver of the boat above even KNOW he ran a person over? I've ran over large logs before and not known until someone in my boat pointed it out. If you ask me, the negligence here is on the people who KNEW she was in the water and apparently did nothing to protect her, not the boat owner who possibly ran her over unknowingly!
I was almost hit head on by a boat in the river when I was in high school. I remember that thing barreling toward me and not making any attempt to miss me. What a tragic accident. Heartbreaking for all envolved.
The person who's idea it was to tow a skier in that area of Miami on a weekend is the most liable for this situation. My son and I spearfish all around South Florida and have two 3'x5' diver down flags hanging from our t-top anytime we're in the water, and still have boats run right up to us. We also never go out during the weekend or holidays. It's lawless out there unless you catch a fish out of season or 1/4" too short. If you're in the water in SFL without a flag or your boat right beside you, then prepare to get run over.

So, is it "incompetence" to drag a kid into a high traffic area and dump her there?
Is it "incompetence" to not get your ski boat turned around in time to retrieve your skier before said traffic hits her (damn near invisible) head?
There's plenty of blame to go around, and the majority isn't on the person driving the boat that hit her.
@@zrxdoug This "high traffic" area that you speak of had witnesses from several other boaters that could see the girl in the water. Why didn't this boat see her in the water?
You say that the boat that was towing her didn't turn around in time, well, yea that happens when a boat hits her before you can get turned around to get her. Plenty of room to make excuses and that's why nothing will be done about it. Next time it may be the same boat running over a smaller craft just because they didn't see them. No incompetence from that boat though, just blame the dead ones.
If it weren't for the fact it was a young girl that was killed, this would be just a boating accident.
How terrible
Was it the usual suspect
And on Mother's Day 😢@@GamerMode-hc2od
accidents do happen...it makes it worse when you don't stay at the accident..
a long time ago I was in santa cruz, my brother owned the boat a 16 ' outboard.. my budy was driving and he invited the neighbor to come with us. we threw the anchor overboad but it wasn't tied to the rope We went down to 29 st I said I will swim in and get an anchor. but the driver said let him do it.. Instead of jumping away from the boat he sort off held on and slid off as he did that the driver turned left sending the back with the motor right over him He got hit in the arm and leg down to the bone.. My brother got sued even though he was not there
Total tragedy and sorry for the loss of a beautiful angel. Accidents happen on the water especially in high traffic areas. Boat safely my fellow mariners.
Maybe he didn’t know he hit her but did he contact authorities once it was all over the news?
Awareness buys time, time buys options - until it doesn’t.
The mainstream media sickens me. That goofy dork "reporter" thought it was "ok" to knock on the door where the boat was parked!?!?! How arrogant!!
