I'm with you here... but i'd have worded it much better. It is looking like its very limited to certain styles of art which remind me of old school flash. certainly doesn't appeal.
This was my initial thought as well but it looks to be a lot more powerful and flexible (with less coding) than some other systems I’ve used. It is free to use up to a certain point though the pricing is steep once you cross that threshold

I'm loving making animations on RIVE, and it's really cool to see that you're expanding to more and more platforms, the only thing missing is Linux.
