- Skoda's just given the Kamiq a mid-life facelift, stuck in some new tech and generally given the small SUV a fresh lease of life. Have they brought it up to date? Join me in sunny California (sorry, rainy Frankfurt) as I take you for a full walkaround, chat about the tech, infotainment, engine changes and take it for a drive.

Same colour as mine. Phoenix orange! All of the Kamiqs had LED headlights I believe. The climate control is identical to my one as well, most of the functions are buttons, but pressing MENU brings up more options on the display. Skoda were offering heavy discounts on the outgoing model, and to be honest, the differences aren't anything worthy of waiting for, providing you get the current SE L, so mine has the full virtual cockpit, larger screen and a few other good bits, and the 1.5 DSG is the same unit, unchanged, but all the 1.0's in the facelift are the new generation versions.
In a pre-facelift there werent the two upper buttons in the climate control area, the menu button was a part of the main row. The biggest changes between the facelift and pre-facelift are that the facelift now offers matrix-leds (gamechanger on a highway at night .. so much better than just automatically turning high beams on and off or not even having that) , 45W wired charging (you can just buy a charger for that one) but it technically should be enough to charge an ultrabook but only if you plug nothing else ) and 15W wireless charging ( honestly its crap .. you cant tell me your phone holds securely in there because ive tried .. i wanna try the wireless charger where you put the phone in sideways .. that could work .. but even androids should technically soon switch to Qi2 with magnets so that could be solved. The speed limit warning is a pain though .. but if you live in a rural area youll have to turn off even lane assist .. as you would be fighting your car on country roads the entire way :D so now you can just switch off two things :D:D:D Lane Assist also isnt the most helpful when theres a long construction on a highway :D thankfully its easy to turn off using the steering wheel controls :D

This FL model now starts at 18200 (16500 pounds) euros for entry level 95HP esence trim arround EU and i don't understand why does it cost so much more in UK.
The Skoda Scala is a C-segment hatchback which is larger than a Golf. Put larger wheels under it and pump up the suspension and you get a B-segment SUV, called Kamiq. The segments are very random now.

The czech word for hemp is " konopí". Pronunciation is - both "o" letters are short like the first "o" in the word "cotton" and the last part is basically pronounced as "pee" :D Also ive had 2 pre facelift kamiqs already :D both phoenix orange :D its a pretty nice car .. I rode as a passenger in facelift Scala and its pretty nice. Gotta say though, I have always had manual gearbox and the DSG immediately starts to slow down/ drags once you lift your leg from the accelerator pedal .. way more than any manual skoda in 3rd gear or higher .. Now I have a new but still pre-facelift Octavia, thankfully without the speed limit warning :D Its a step above Kamiq and Scala :D Whats funny - Ive always wanted to have red LEDs at least in front doors when you open them :D Now I have the word Škoda projected under the front doors but instead of red LEDs I still got red reflectors :D:D:DD

This or mazda cx 30, cant decide, same price almost same specs.

@TimRodieDrivesStuff Does this model have a automatic locking system if so can it be overriden, as my 2023 model doesn't and it makes the vehicle not fit for purpose and a potential death trap . There is even a warning in the handbook that Emergency Services could not gain entry if say a driver needs assistance urgently, say a heart attack or a child locked in etc .
It can be manually overriden but continues to lock when the vehicle slows down then exceeds 9 mph so if you forget to unlock it you are in big trouble if you need help !
Skoda and two other dealers said it could be set but have failed and Skoda instructed the dealer to reject the vehicle but they refused and Skoda have dismissed me .
Although Skoda say the lock disengages on impact I have it in writing from Skoda the lock has to stay locked so Driver and Passengers don't fly out of the vehicle on impact!!!!

Hemp in Czech? The official foreign name of the plant is marihuana with an h. The purely Czech name of the plant is konopí, neuter gender. Used by owners of greenhouses or in creams etc. The slang is tráva, meaning grass.

Nah. It's the new Dacia Duster. 517 liters of boot space, leg room enough for a 193cm adult on the back seats, mild hybrid, all equipment with heated seats, steering wheel, windshield, lumbar support, 360 camera, front and back sensors for 25k euros

Don't buy one it's been a total disaster, look elsewhere.

how is 1.0tsi compared to 1.5 tsi in terms of realiability?
Did 89000 miles in a 1 litre Octavia with zero issues

@Corsa15DT The car went back after being on lease. Never used any oil between services. Never any problems just regular servicing and mainly motorway miles.

Why a gear lever on a facelift in 2024 😂😂😂😂 but rest overall great. Kudos to bringing back the buttons to climate control

@justanalopeciagirl It has a Automatic Locking System which cannot be overriden consequently resulting in a potential deathtrap as driver locked in in an emergencysituation. More detail if you require it .
@daveview1743 all cars have automatic locking these days but surely when you stop and open the car door, it automatically opens? It doesn't stay locked.
@justanalopeciagirl As soon as the vehicle reaches 9 kph the car locks if a driver fails to disengage the car it stays locked .l have a friend who had a heart attack and collapsed on the horn .No one could gain access to him because the car was locked. On earlier Kamiq it was possible to override the system on the computer but Skoda failed to download the software. Skoda and two dealerships said it could be rectified but they have failed .Skoda have admitted it should be able to be override but walked away from the problem.
