Yep, you are spot-on with that comment. However, I did a bit of research and what I've discovered is (1) Blox ended up as a Chef or Cook in either a Club or a Hospital. He also makes bass guitars and sells them online. (2) The original drummer is playing with a bunch of guys under a similar name. Unfortunately, they are mediocre at best and the lead singer should be in a heavy-metal / thrash group, or something. That Blox is no longer playing professionally is such a shame and a huge loss to the Aussie Music industry. His performance on stage, his vocals, his lyrics, his playing, just his presence........ was the best I've ever seen. But if rumours are correct, he's now got a ladle in his hand instead of a bass guitar pick.
If anyone asks you who a great Bass player is, then you can look them in the eye and say CRAIG BLOXOM. The rhythm and the power of Craig's playing drove the band along with the Drumming if Cliff Grigg. Who is a great Drummer? Tell them Cliff Grigg is awesome. What makes this band one of, if not the best and greatest 3 piece bands is Michael Weiley's Guitar playing. RIP MIchael
C'mon Blox..... we're all still watching and listening to these songs in 2024. Mate, the Reggae thing ain't working. PLEASE start doing Spys songs and (to quote the Blues Bros) "...get the band back together.." No one can ever replace Mick, but the line-up you have now is brilliant!! You fronting a new V-Spy V-Spy band will absolutely RULE the current Australian music scene!!!!! Look at the Comments below; I tell ya', Australia NEEDS YOU!!!!! (AND, if what I've read on other videos, BRAZIL needs you as well!!!!)
I see 3 shows of spyvs spy, one in metropolitan, the people invade the house because there were no more tickets, and the other in circo voador, the third i don remenber, i watch all the australian music from the time, hodoo gurus, midnight oil, men at work, gang gajang, autralian crown... was the best time of my life, only surf and australian musics !!!
❤💜💙💚Luv this song still!!...2019 never gets old ... saw these guys as a young teenager at Fairfield RSL club....best live show ever ..so much fun and got to meet all the guys backstage (thanks to the DJ liking my friend)...lol ..they were my fave band and was a bit star stuck....truly awesome guys!!
Here we are…2023…I was lucky enough to see (sneak into venues underaged) the Spies at a few local venues Canberra in the late 80’s…I was a massive metalhead/into extreme bands…and heavy metal music…Spies were a level above at the time, best OZ live music I’ve ever witnessed, had to be there, in their prime👍🏻
Never got the recognition they deserved.. but man what a band to see live.... saw em alll over sydney and up the coast... always worth the journey.. Would give anything to see the real spys play again :'( not the shambles of the last decade. RIP Mike and thanks for the memories.
Seen this Band over a Hundred times at the Stardust Hotel were they were regulars, and other Pubs around Sydney ,along with many great Aussie Bands in the late 70s and 80s ,even had a stint with Mushroom Records in Melb as a Light Guy in the early 80s ,Sydney had many great Venues back then
IMHO THE BEST BAND AUSTRALIA HAS PRODUCED...Credit Cards exposes the New World Order crap control of Big Brother media, tech, banks & big business. BEST BAND EVER.
I listened to this song so much through my Technics system and its brilliant, the reality of this song is so true and now the debt age is upon us and before to long ownership will be obsolete and yes the silver lining is to be debt free and do not borrow in an uncertain future of liberalists ripping us off even bloody more than you could ever comprehend.
Late discovery of the Spy’s for me, Mikes guitar work is mesmerising on almost all the songs I’ve listened to. My age, Hard Times got air play, a few videos on Late night music shows. Wish they got more air time.
Very relevant today. I was very lucky to see this band many times but I can distinctly remember when they did their first show with the new drummer and their sound changed dramatically. The original trio were magnificent live.
Will humanity ever learn it's nice to have all the tech having said that as I watch and reflect on watching my parents slowly fade away I know we don't live forever but it would be nice to think that we actually could all connect in someway Instead of all this stuff today but alas money makes the world go round ✌️
Bons tempos!
Live at Melbourne Uni 1989. With an NZ girl from Auckland. Ultra killer Spy v Spy with the best Aussie back beat, ever. Everybody was getting 'a leg over' in every way dancing like 'root rats.' seriously before, during and after the concert. Most fun I ever had, well as good as the Clash and English Beat.
They did Chisholm Franskton O'Week as well in 89. Fucking awesome. Backed up by those guys who first sang pretty flamingoes ... jeez stretching the brain ... the huxton creepers!!
I saw these guys once live but it was in my younger days and i was so drunk i cant remember the concert the stupid things we do when we are young what an underated band they were i bought 2 albums i wish we still had bands like this take me back to the count down days musics pretty much gone to crap
Spy vs Spy, my favourite Amazing powerful Aussie band with important messages still currently relevant along side the great Yothu Yindi and Midnight Oil.
Very pertinent today - with an AU bank advocating for microchipping children and customers being chipped. Meanwhile, that looks like Rebel Wilson in the suop que at the 1:39 mark.
Does anyone know where that really good live version went? I hope it wasnt deleted or made private because that was the best version of this song. Mikes guitar really jumps out in that version. I think Craigs wearing like a sleeveless jean jacket in it as well.
Quisiera preguntarles directamente a los Spys ; Como fue que se dio el éxito en Brasil durante la última época de la banda antes de separarse allá entre 1998 y 2001
Without a doubt the greatest 3 piece this country has ever produced. To this day everyone that I introduce to this band loves them.
Numbskulls are a pretty good Adelaide 3 piece they should be on the you tube

How prophetic were these lyrics? Craig's view of government, banks, corporations spot on!
nope social issues in AU, nothing to do with The Church fan taste. Everything they did was a social issue, Tear it Down, Sally Anne and this.
correct mate
The WHO, the WEF etc want to go down the road of digital ID and I suspect an implant with and external mark like in Revelation 13
SPY VS SPY ARE PROPHETIC.......
BUT JUSTIN BIEBER IS PATHETIC .......
Spy vs. Spy are "prophetic" and Justin Bieber is "pathetic" .....
Still listening in 2023
I Am, In 2024, & Always Will! ❤
I Am, from brazil man...Oss

I picked up Telecaster because of him.
As a bass player I agree. He drives the song
A friend of mine called Harry Brus was a great Bass player back then .,he worked with Kevin Borich and many overseas Artists as well

Bons tempos quando ouvia essa música com meus irmãos no rádio, saudades dessa época!

I think the guitar player was better than midnight oil guitarist. Spy v spy and midnight oil both great political rock bands.
