    Thank you so much for this excellent lesson in Griseille.
    I really appreciate the setup details, the naming of the brushes and especially the series of lights you use after blocking in the essential shapes/head mosaic.

    this is really good information. Thanks very much to show all of this...thanks for pointing out Gamblin greys...helpful...Yes...I find too...getting the shapes first, the values second and then back and forth...till I get the overall "correctness" creates a successful initial step and impression prior to going into the colour step. Thankyou...this is really very good tutorial...And yes it is like a big puzzle...First rate presentation. Love the brush holder too...got to find this in the stores or online.

    That part of measuring, I use a Proportional Divider and it don`t fail in portraits or

    Excellent tutorial. One of the best I have seen so far. Looking for more :), already subscribed. Quick question.. What is the brush holder on the table top you use? is that integrated to a taboret? Thanks

    • @opusartsupplies
      @opusartsupplies  10 лет назад +1

      Hi Doberman,
      Thank you so much for your comment and for subscribing to our channel. The brush holder seen in Mandy's video is the Masterson Sta-New Brush Holder, which is separate from the taboret.

    Whe you changed from one valuation to the next for instance the "darkest light" to the medium light....did you let it dry in between?

    • @nickfanzo
      @nickfanzo 7 лет назад +3

      Valerie Medina it doesnt have to dry. just dont blend it. you need to see the values amd over blending can harm this.

    Great video tutorial. would you always recommend to use a black and white photo reference when working on grisaille or can I start with a coloured photo?

  • @rosered103

    Thank you so much, the best Grisaille painting demonstration on youtube! Wow. And that was my question (answered after hours and hours of searching and watching pontifications of nothing)..... which was... do you blend as you lay down the greys?

    just use an opaque projector and sketch it, then paint. proportions will be dead on, and its a thousand times faster.
