I'm always shocked at how well put together so many of these fan works are and then get sad when I look at the view count and think about how few people have gotten to enjoy this.
The caretaker is niche already, no surprise that the fan creations get overlooked. Not saying that they should, their work, like this, one is very impressive!
I've been having some trouble getting into the festive mood lately. I finally feel the Christmas spirit listening to this but it's already too late. It's the night of Christmas day and all the festivities are over. My chance for that romanticized holiday cheer is gone. I feel such an empty bleakness, like I'm wasting my life away. I'm always too tired to do anything I enjoy until it's too late.
It can't be too late to be happy. Christmas is just a date. And if this gets you into the festive mood, maybe this is the romanticism you needed. Enjoy your time dude. Make a tea and enjoy it. Meet family and friends. Create a memory worth revisiting.
Yeah! You can do this! In 2020, I set up my Christmas tree in May just for fun. (ok maybe it was partially because I was bored of the pandemic, but it was still fun!) And, I also made my neighbors cards with completely random stuff like literally drawing white blood cells in bloodstreams. Find something that makes you happy and do it! :D
As I listen to this, I imagine this being the songs that play on the last Christmas that an elderly person has before dementia sets in. Sad, arguably, but bittersweet, too, perhaps.
I'd say that snowflakes are a great metaphor for memories, so I find this juxtaposition of a concept and a particular time of year & weather pattern to be quite fitting. Snowflakes, like memories, fade--or in this context--"melt" away; none are permanent. Many of them sit together in a massive heap; snowflakes on ground, memories in our brains, and when the spring/dementia comes, they slowly fade away until winter/our sense of self is unrecognizable and the land lies barren.

I really like how the vinyl crackle sounds like a fireplace. It makes the christmas music sound cozy and unsettling at the same time. It may not have been the intention, but it fricking works.
I wish Leyland would engage more with his community, and especially really good fan-projects like this one. Perhaps release them on vinyl, but just like the stage 5 clarity moments, it is all just a dream. Edit: This project (and especially the first song) is so catchy and amazing, 10/10. And the titles are all really good spins on the original track names.
Why is this so... GOOD? It's almost completely indistinguishable from something the caretaker himself would make. If you told me HE had made this, I would totally believe you. great work!
I really like what you did with the stage 4 cover thought. There is this bitter sweet humor to it. As in Grandma also sits at the table with everyone else gets a little Christmas hat and has no idea what on earth going on. Almost comical

He used to be the one who collected uniforms and bed linens for a big company who happened to supply a lot of nursing homes and care facilities. He tended to see that around Christmas there was always a boost in elderly patients... checking out. Be it from loneliness, neglect, whatever... Christmastime always yielded the most deaths. This is just me rambling but i feel like this album kind of represents what it'e like to forget happiness, trying to remember the good until nothing's left and i think it's because of the it's festive mood the music has had me relating to an extent. I am a former Caretakercord veteran, i was there since the second day of its existence (now i left), and i was a participant in the collab project "Somewhere, at the beginning of Time" that pioneered the genre of Caretaker "fan albums", after which came dozens of same generic disappointing CT bootleg records, and i gotta say that this is the first one i actually enjoyed!
Fortunately this wasn't forged in the circlejerk hell of the Caretaker Discord. I don't like most other fan albums too, some sound bland and boring, some are literally just Vaporwave. But it's nice to hear you enjoyed this.
