Y-Pipe VS. True Duals (2013 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3L)

  • In the first two clips ( 00:00 - 00:12 ) the truck still has the two front factory cats intact, 3rd cat is deleted with a Y-pipe and out to 5' tips. In the three following clips the truck has the two front cats still intact (same as before) and then true duals after that (still with same 5' tips). If you have any further questions feel free to ask in the comments. Thanks for watching!!!

    • @ThatWeebGuy
      @ThatWeebGuy  Год назад +1

      In my case removing the 3rd cat didn't affect anything. The truck still ran as it did before it was removed. Even though your truck is 2 years newer and a different generation than mine I highly doubt removing it would cause you to need a tune. The 3rd cat really isn't required for anything anyway. GM only started putting them on there mid 2009 because of stupid emissions rules.

    I gotta ask directly , What exactly is different from the 2?

    • @ThatWeebGuy
      @ThatWeebGuy  3 года назад +1

      Besides the obvious sound difference a y pipe is where you cut the muffler off and weld in a pipe that "Ys" so you can run a tip to each side of the truck giving the look of duals but still having a single pipe for most of the length of the truck.
      True dual on the other hand are where you cut the crossover at the very front of the truck where the two down pipes that come off the manifolds meet. Cutting that allows you to run two separate pipes down the entire length of the truck, hence, true duals.

I am asking because I currently have a 5.3 Tahoe that I have installed headers on and want to do the switch to true dual exhaust I currently have a Y pipe that runs down into a borla muffler but it's a bit quiet wondering if a true dual setup with two side by side borlas will make her sound throatier and louder?

      @@tupapi818247 No problem, man! I've never ran true duals with mufflers myself, all the trucks I've had with true duals only had cats and no mufflers.
