I think this is one of the best stories you have done. I think continuing on with the small business old school mom and pop type places is great. I personally would love to see some footage from the divey places in Mexico just south of the American border like Tijuana. So much strange coverage about immigration and border security in the U.S.. It would be nice to see a true family business making sweet food.
Girl I'm Mexican American, and let me tell you toda la Familia here in Milwaukee we Love Puerto Rican Food, our favorite is Arroz con Gandules , God Bless❤
I'm glad this series is back. There's a lot of personality driven food or food adjacent shows to watch, so I appreciate having something else in the high production short form/medium-short form range. The lack of a central personality allows for peace to be a more quiet relaxing product, which I appreciate.
You’re doing it papo. You’re filling your father’s shoes and you’re growing taller. Keep up the good work and the family tradition. Next time I go to NYC, I’m hitting up cuchifrito!
Being a Puerto Rican man.. Married to a European woman I can say that places like this are essential for my people to keep our culture alive my wife and I teach our children not only my heritage but hers.. ...gotta have Puerto Rican....Germans ....Luckily my beautiful wife cooks all my favorite foods.....
Recently was at amadeos slash prior rafael hernandez place . Did not know about the cuchifritos restaurant down the street definitely will check out when in the neigbhorhood muchas gracias for the heads up saludos y feliz navidad junto con un prosspero ano nuevo lleno de salud
This was very interesting. I loved how they explained the history and recipes behind their own spot and then also walked around and showcased other hot spots in their neighborhood. 👍
So happy to see this video. I go to 188 every couple of weeks when I'm jonesing for morcilla aka Puerto Rican blood sausage. Always walk out with over $50 worth of cuchifrito. Been going since 1983. The only Puerto Rican cuchifrito spot left now in the Beonx. Well worth the trip and the wait in line. Fantastic food. 🇵🇷🤗
That restaurant has been on 188th forever ! My father and I love pasteles. When I would visit my parents. I would stop by this restaurant for some pasteles to bring and eat with my father. This place is an institution. I hope that it's able to stay at it's current location . It's part of the fabric of the Bx. Thanks for shinning a beautiful light on a beautiful place, I call home. Bronx, N.Y.
Yes I’m Puerto Rican, I practically live in New York and LA, it’s hard for my parents to let me go to the Bronx because they lived in NY 20 years ago when it was much different. I can’t wait to go and see this place before the rent kicks the community out
American, just as we are a melting pot, so are ALL the foods we eat, latino, european, asian, mexican, south american, oriental, indian... IT'S ALL SO GOOD!
I grew up with all types of pork dishes from Puerto Rico which were much better than anything in a restaurant but I'm glad these places still exist but nothing like home cooking from Puerto Rico.
Loved the video but it also made me sad and nostalgic. All of my grandparents generation and some of my uncles and aunts had small businesses of the same sort and my generation and my parents generation has abandoned that way of life and a lot of knowledge and culture has been lost. Thankfully, in the US, people seem to be aware of this and are fighting to keep small businesses open. If I ever visit NYC, I'll definitively make a visit.
This is a great story about a personal business and the owner with his son. This spot is nothing special as it’s a dime a dozen in the Bx and in Spanish Harlem. Bourdain probably decided to highlight this one because it’s the Bronx and the large PR community there and yes, this is one type of successful personal business ran by PRs and DRs.
No Vegans Have not left the chat because everybody should do what they want with their bodies. I just choose not to eat meat at this time in my life. Honestly xD i pass there every day and my friends loves to eat there. I'm happy that bronx/Fordham is represented I always heard that they have great food Respect PR food
good to see a real cuchifritos in business still, the classic one on 116th just doesn’t cut it anymore and isnt as good as others (not to mention it’s all dominican cooks but the restaurant still says its all puerto rican 😂)
Hope you guys enjoy this special edition of Food Skills. What foods do you want to see covered?
Comida dominicano 🇩🇴
Chinese bbq.... literally a dying art
First We Feast pickled foods. The art of pickling.👍🏻
Epicurious did a video with hot sauce expert Noah Chaimberg of Heatonist. You should have him come on hot ones to dissect all of the sauces!

It's endearing to see the impact a man as Bourdain had even on the life of individuals... loved the man.
Everything looks amazing but also so sweet how the son says he plans on staying there forever- that’s really awesome❤️🇵🇷💙
There's alot if history here. It's more than just food. Its about culture, family, tradition, immigrants looking for a better life. I love it. 💖😍

I love those old style places... you just feel good when you eat there.
I LOVE 188 Cuchifritos!! Went there all the time when I lived in the Bronx. Great food and great people!

My mouth is watering just from watching this.
This is so awesome. Kudos to you guys. Love from Australia - live forever!
Interesting a Cuban gentleman cooking our Puerto Rico cuisine how wonderful. ❤️ I’d travel from PR to NY just to eat food from home. 😂

Ain’t nothin like Puerto Rican food from the Bronx!
Insight not even Puerto Rican food from the island?
I mean... when you actually visit the island, it gets better.
American, just as we are a melting pot, so are ALL the foods we eat, latino, european, asian, mexican, south american, oriental, indian... IT'S ALL SO GOOD!
This looks so good! I wish they didn't use soy bean oil since I'm allergic to that but kudos to them for having an authentic Puerto Rican restaurant!
Thank god this series is back!!
OMG. that's gorgeous. I haven't had cuchifritos & mofongo in YEARS. I miss living in NYC.
Thanks so much for spotlighting these great small businesses! It's great to see my old neighborhood valorized like this!
Love it and miss it. Miss it because I have been living in Arkansas since 1982. I have to make my own.
One of the first things I did, was scroll down to the comment section to see the boricuas/nuyoricans representing and I was NOT disappointed 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷

Glad to be Puerto Rican 👌🏽❤️
Grew up here and was always hanging on Fordham Rd. You could smell the yumminess before you even saw the storefront. WEPA!!!
I'm glad I don't live close because I would have a big problem with moderation. I love authentic family restaurants like this.
🌺🇵🇷🌺🇵🇷🌺our food is one of the best!!!
I'm so glad you are continuing these series!
God bless you guys and your business
I love it when the military funds my favorite Millennial™ content!
Anthony Bourdain
omg, the pork and fried chicken looks amazing!
So much respect for this video
I hope he continues the legacy🇵🇷 💯
Ive been eating there for years....Food is GREAT!
Not only the pork...Try the steak(bistec) sandwich if you get a chance
And theyre open late
Anthony bourdain had such a great life, eating food, traveling and more. It sucks that depression had to ruin that greatness in him.
Wow. Never had any desire to visit NYC but this could change my mind. I have a PR friend and everything he cooks is delicious.
Loved the video but it also made me sad and nostalgic. All of my grandparents generation and some of my uncles and aunts had small businesses of the same sort and my generation and my parents generation has abandoned that way of life and a lot of knowledge and culture has been lost.

No one abandoned anything they all got bought out by greedy mega corps.
Amen thank God Beatriz from Brooklyn
Puerto Rican food is the most slept on food of all time. Easily the tastiest in the world I'll fight anyone tryna say otherwise.
This is the only cuchifrito i go to 🌟❤️❤️ always a line gotta try it when ur in Fordham 🇵🇷
