I am more than happy to have reviewers getting paid, for HONEST reviews. Just the editing of a video takes days. Shooting anything takes forever - way longer than just doing the project being filmed. That's work, and if the information is valuable, the content creator deserves all the compensation for that.
I don’t mind you getting paid for your reviews. It takes work! Plus, I feel you are trustworthy and transparent too. Cool Barbie-caster too :)
I was not paid for this video.Of course, I really hope to cooperate with such an excellent anchor who can give fair evaluations.
@@LeoJaymzadministrator My point was an observation about Ryan and gear reviews in general. He comes across as authentic and truthful, paid or not.
No! But i don't trust unpaid one's either 😂
thats fair lol
Ornery Hugh!!!
I really didn't pay any fees or guitar for this video.
love your demos, you can be trusted to give your honest impressions on the gear that you review. and so much fun!
That body alone is worth $150 just for the paint job. It looks fantastic!
You're right, in fact, we're selling this guitar at a loss to make everyone know Leo Jaymz.
@@LeoJaymzadministrator Just ordered mine a few days ago. Went with the British flag tele. Looking forward to seeing it in person.
@@byronshepherd8415 It is very different from the one in the video. The model in the video was sold at a promotional price. Its normal selling price should be US$199.
Hey Ryan! Just wanted to drop in and say I love your channel. Such a good vibe. Watching your videos always boosts my mood. It's like sitting down with an old friend and having a chat. Thanks for all you do man. I will say Im not sure if I like the headstock or not either. Reminds me of what the pure Salem guys do with that German carve kind of thing. Was definitely surprised though when you mentioned how affordable it was with the fit and finish.
Pretty nice guitar, I have one coming in this coming Friday, can't wait to get my hands on this, modding fun here we come. Thanks for the nice review.
Very Cool, Thankyou. Stunning looking and sounding Guitar and playing. The loop was amazing. Nice Work. Cheers
Great video. I was not sure abour this guitar but for the price the build quality seems very good. I think it will work out great for a little project i have planned. I hope they get the purple one back in stock soon.
Thank you for uploading this. 👍
I like a lot your chanel Ryan, you are a normal person who demo in a direct way and real time to a normal guitarrists. I am tired of cooked demos by great guitarists. You are the next door guitarist friend ;-) Greetings from Spain.
That was a really odd insult. Must be a different culture in Spain.
Also, I wouldn’t call Ryan normal by any stretch of the imagination.
I'm the weird neighbor that the HOA is a little afraid of.
I am from Bolivia (not Spain but sorta similar culture due to history) and his comment doesn't sound like an insult to me, so there may be a cultural difference. About his use of the word normal, I think he means authentic. As in a normal person, not a made up over-the-top caricature of a person who thinks they're the bee's knees. At least that's how I would understand the word normal as a Spanish speaker in this context (the word normal in Spanish is spelled the same and I'd bet my car it has the same origin, Latin)
@@fernandozegada6809 Don’t sweat it. The original comment is obviously not an insult of any kind, regardless of the cultural background. The comment was obviously worded kindly, describing a refreshing contrast between @60CycleHumCast and a lot of other guitar demo channels that are extremely biased due to sponsor input, or are completely full of themselves and make videos mostly to demonstrate what a badass they think they are by shredding stuff that 95% of their viewers can’t play. The allegation was pure troll bait. It was kind of you to speak up, though. ✌🏼and ❤️!!
I enjoy your demos. It's cool you make a living doing them too. Really liked the pink color on this one, sounded really good.
You are transparent of what you do and how you do it- that’s called honesty . Im glad that You can do what You like and make a living off of it. Best wishes mate🤗!
What I enjoy most about your demos is your honesty, well that and the pop culture riffs. But seriously, you don’t hesitate to point out flaws in the guitars you play no matter how you got them.
Great review! Fun and always honest!
I made the list🙌...that means I helped fund some of the metal flake😊
That's probably the best video you have made!!
Nice review. Love the color of it.. It you upgrade it, ya gotta let us know if standard pickups, bridge and pickguard fits. Also is the neck pocket compatible with Fender.
I’ve heard good stuff about the Leo Jaymz guitars . Good review here !
Great video awesome guitar!! Hope you make a million!!
Love it! Been playing for years and don't know how these can be at that price range!
I’ve enjoyed all the pedals that I have bought after watching your reviews ,yes I want one of those Leo ‘s also
I love your videos; you just have fun with stuff, so I certainly don't mind you getting paid for it. Can you do a video about the two princes rig sometime?
Wow! One of these in Christmas Red made the perfect holiday present / starter guitar for my son. Out of the box, this sounded great. Not a bum note on it and it has that authentic Teli feels but with a little extra Rock n Roll spank. Thanks for the review (which actually helped in making my final choice) and for all you do here.
Those sound just like the Wilkinson Alnico pickups I got from musiclily. Really fun review, Ryan.
airbrushed hearts like a sears photoshoot backdrop would be SICK behind that pickguard
Nice format, honest review IMO. I think that T-style is such a great deal. I may buy one (sparkle blue) to mod. I would probably change out the pots/switch, and put a Fender neck on it, maybe a 3 barrel brass saddle. Super win for the price. I would keep the pickups! Love the comfort cuts.
That weird scoop on the back at the neck joint would be for legato shredding at the neck joint with the left hand while using the right hand to hold the guitar upright above the head. This would be consistent w/ the dark pick ups & the flashy finish.
With a headstock like that, it's both an axe and spear.
The tele looks greatand doesn't sound bad at all.I love the pink finish, and for sub $200 how can you gripe?
Pink is rad but I was hoping for a purple one. The blue looks great. Looking forward to you getting into this one.
Dude- fun watch- thank you !
ive been curious about these!
Saw the flake and said "I'm in!" A man after my own heart 🥰
This review did seem authentic, and well done. On past reviews, I felt they varied. Some authentic, some I have felt some bias. I like your evaluating/intuiting the pickups for what they were aiming for (and yeah on budget guitars sometimes it's more the manufacturer sufficing with, or just a big lot of pickups they negotiated a good deal on). I enjoy when you play varying styles when reviewing a model - versus this says surf, so let's ONLY play surf on it. If the pickups aren't versatile, well, the demo will then illustrate those areas of strength/weakness.
"Jaymz"... Wow, now there's some real street cred.
greetings fellow kids
Hey man, I liked your jam at the end of the video. I think you kind of surprised yourself, and it seems like the guitar pulled it out of you. I’ve heard some good things about this brand, for the price of course. Good video!
That Jennings tele shape guitar is pretty epic sounding. Do you have more content on it?
Pink sparkles must have been pretty ok cause the playing part was all smiles good job Ryan!
Appreciate the honesty you provide information and you should be compensated thats the way it works in the US
Thanks for this video.
I trust Ryan, because even if he gets something Out of a Demo, he tells is, if there something he doesn't like. Thanks for taking ethics serious.
I would like to try some silver holographic film behind the scratch plate, might not work or could really pop against the pink sparkle.
ive been having similar thoughts
It actually sounded pretty good! Then you plugged in the Jennings and the difference was more apparent. You can get thin sheets of clear lexan / polycarbonate and cut out inserts to place under the guard. You can make all kinds of options. Thin lexan (1/16" or less) is used quite a bit in the RC (remote control) world so I think it's pretty available
I like the bridge of the Jaymz and the body shaping and visuals and thought about buying one. But the moment you plugged in the Jennings, in prefered the Jennings.
Would a pickup swap help the Jaymz?
Make a collage of hate comments to go under the pickguard
Lol that’s a fun idea
Want this, I love budget guitars!
I got a Leo Jaymz as part of a review program. It plays good and is aesthetically more or less perfect. I'd recommend it if you want a Tele with belly cutout.
My Tele (Squier Classic Vibe 50s Pine/White) has a dark neck pickup too. I got it for $189 and it's played great for ten years so far. I've never heard a T-type with a neck pickup as trebly as your Jennings. I had thought I was buying an inexpensive guitar to modify, but it's so good as is that only the pickguard has been changed.
I love mounting direct into the body 😂
25:50 I would listen to that alone. Beautiful
Dang that sounds fantastic. A paisley guard on it…😍
I thought we had the discussion over this topic a couple of years ago. As long as it's stated upfront, the community doesn't have an issue with paid demos.
Put that neck pickup on your tele baritone and the low frequencies are going to hit the brown note. Great vid!
Great as usual! Does anyone know a way to order from Europe (esp. France) ? I want a pink and a green one 😀
I reckon paisley in predominately pink, purple, blue or green with gold to go under the clear pickguard. I'd have to try all the colours and shades to really decide probably but yeah, paisley in a single complementary colour with gold to pick up on and highlight the sparkle finish.
I reckon that would transform the whole look of the thing from a more 80s rock to 60s psychedelic or perhaps something like you might've seen someone like Prince use in the 90s as a tribute to the psychedelic era
Those pickups are super dark though. They still sound fine but yeah, not like a Tele. Perhaps they could use some height adjustment to dial them in but I'd be interested to know how they read on a multimeter..There are few Ali Express brands (Fleor, OriPure etc.) that make good quality wax potted Alnico V pickups that use the cloth wiring that you can buy for under $20 USD a set.
I have myself bought Fleor Alnico V humbucker and Strat single coil pickups and I've been very happy with those. They very much have a "classic" style tone to them though I'd say so if those are Fleor pickups then I'd say it's likely a custom wound set for this brand/guitar
Can you review the Glarry GMF SS?
it looks sensational! sounds like a jazz player to me. paid or not paid doesn't matter to me - as long as there is disclosure. you tend to spend more time than any other with kit you review - everything i've bought based on your reviews has been exactly as you have shown - that's good enough for me.
The pink tele is $149 compared to $169 and $179 on the other flake finishes. How thin is the neck in width and profile? I caught it was fast but compared to what? Ibanez, Ric, etc.
id say the profile is pretty similar to a mim fender neck, but its a flat radius at 14"
Wonder if these are the same as EART pickups, very dark in the neck
So Like I told you on X Ryan my overall impression of this guitar has been favorable. I got a Blue version though. No it doesn't have the twangy sound of my Squire Tele but I think that's a good thing. It's over all a pretty warm sounding neck pickup. Everything is good enough for a $160 USD guitar.
It sounds kind of like my Jaguar on the rhythm circuit! I dig it! Though that might just be Sparkbias.
What is that guitar hanging at stage left that looks like an upside-down beehive hairstyle?? I love that body style, I saw somebody playing a bass with that body style and I want one!
Hallmark Swept-Wing? - steve
Nice looking guitar...If were a Pink Paisley id buy it
I have the same model and other than the one hole for the control plate screw being oversized and the screw missing it arrived fine. I know it's a simple fix, but still think it shouldn't had been shipped like that. I did keep it, as it's fine for the money other than that.
That bridge pickup doesn't look like it at the angle that a "normal" tele is. It's too vertical.
Is it cheapo strings or just in need of an initial setup cuz those strings are buzzy AF! As soon as I heard it the first time, I couldnt stop hearing it. Im thinking of pulling the tigger on one of this brand's kit guitars I saw an interesting Firebird style recently and I figure well, if the body is decent and the neck's not twisted I can always upgrade piece by piece.
I can't seem to find the difference between this $180 (today) model - called "Elite" or "ResonanceX Pro" on Amazon - and the $120 (today) model - called "Standard" - other than a somewhat vague description of type of woods used, and different colors or graphics. 🤔
I'd like to know if hardware or fit & finish quality are different.
Would love to see a Pink Flamingo with sunglasses on Pickguard ( either on top? or Reverse stickered on Bottom of clear pickguard?) and then Paint the Whole Pickguard Turquoise colored!!!! It's Beachy and 80's all rolled into one :) Love ya Vids and great review!
Holy hell! Best open in RUclips history. Absolutely got me
Thank you D3ztruco
Since both pickups are dark I suspect the volume pot is significantly under value.
As to your question I view a paid demo as an ad. I can learn the specs and little else.
Lmao! I had a cheap Kramer in the 80s. I made a clear guard for it and put a picture of Jim Hendrix behind it!
The original Teles had a Dark CIrcuit and the neck pickup was very dark.
I'd try orange for the pick guard. Perhaps orange paisley. Look at East Indian textiles. Pink with Orange really pops.☺☺☺
Name of that riff? Here played at 14:21.
He's been playing it recently. Very familiar but I can't place it.
rebel rouser by Duane Eddy
@@60CycleHumcast yes!
haha fantastic intro :)
For ONCE I enjoyed your show! even if it was a Telly~ I would use it to make a Bass Guitar out of but that's my preference
It doesn't really matter to me how much someone praises, or even trashes a piece of gear. They're demos, not reviews. I'll use my own ears to decide if it's something I like and want to buy, or not.
That’s the way to do it
Definitely need to swap out those pickup’s
You and Henning Pauly are my favorites
I wonder... If you sprayed the outside of the styrofoam sarcophagus with RhinoLiner or something like that and added some sort of hinge... Or covered it in fabaric... Would it work as a case? LOL
Where is Leo? Livin' well on cheap good guitar island! 😆
I haven’t seen a bad review of Leo Jaymz yet. If I didn’t already have 6 Tele’s, I would buy this in a heartbeat.
Maybe for Christmas.
This guitar is for Glam Rock. Yep. Think Slade back in the 70s or Marc Bolan in his polyester period. I dig the glittery blue one.
I got to get me a pink guitar that glitters. 😮
But it's got to be baby pink. Yeah😊
Tone knob?
I wonder if there's a color/design which is TOO crazy for Ryan. 😄 I mean if there was a relic'd purple-and-yellow checkered 12-string baritone reverse flying-V with five single-coil pickups, he would probably be the first to get it. ;))) Here's a guy who loves fun guitars!
you have me figured out lol
Er, I want one of those too👽
I had a purple one, once I removed the pickguard and put it back on as i replaced the neck pickup, i realized the sparkle is a sort of a vinyl layer put over the wood, it starts to flake and crack apart around the screw holes... very cheap. The pickups are very poor, complete with very thin plastic shells and small (short) magnets...... the guitar was very heavy also... mine was I believe 8.0 lbs.
interesting, ill take mine apart eventually. It doesnt feel unusually heavy to me but im not generally very picky about weight in the 7-9lb range.
I started during Covid. The first guitar I bought, while admittedly completely hammered, was a Leo Jaymz. But the next day, I couldn't find a single review of even one of their products on RUclips, so I canceled my order, and bought a Firefly. No regrets.
pink...sparkle...Jason thanks
So weird. I ordered a Leo Jaymz DIY Tele kit over a year ago with a paddle headstock and my chosen design was incredibly similar to what they did on this model with shape and the carve out.
Great minds. lol
Ryan,
it wants to Rock and it wants to Blues, it Surfs and probably wants to Jazz. A lot of possibility for a small priced guitar.
The pickups don't need to be changed, you already have other guitars that sound like a Tele; this one is not meant to do that.
Yes you can mod the crap out of it but it's not required, let's enjoy it for what it sounds like.
Oooo i need a blue sparkle....hmmm
No hate, papa's gotta get that bag
The nut is made of a synthetic bone substitute called plah-schtich
Why do you have your face hidden on the TEMU effects demonstrations
I have nothing to do with that.
Love the sparkle finish! Unfortunately, it looks flatter on camera-the closeup shots showed it up better. Pretty amazing guitar for the price! I’d be doing a bridge and pickup swap at the very least-the angle on the bridge pickup is shallower than on a more accurate Tele, and that will certainly affect the sound. Not at all uncommon on budget Teles. Compare it to the bridge pickup angle on your Jennings, and you’ll see what I mean. I didn’t like the neck pickup at all; it’s way too dark and, dare I say it, muddy. I’d put in a good set of vintage-sounding Tele pickups, and probably replace the electronics with full-size pots and a good switch. Locking tuners would be cool too. I’d likely wind up more than doubling the price of the guitar, but $160? For something that’s functional right out of the box and looks that good? Amazing! My first electric was a Teisco-made St George that cost $85, and was not close to being as nice as this Leo Jaymes. It’s comparable to buying a new Fender Telecaster in 1964 for five bucks! Not gonna happen, even then, although I could have had a blackguard early-50s Fender Esquire in ‘64 for $75…Such a deal!
yeah, the soft video lights arent always friendly with sparkle finishes.
The visual effect of this kind of paint is completely different between what you see with the naked eye and what you see with a camera.Personally, this guitar is even cooler looking at it with the naked eye.
I've bought more pedals after watching Brett Kingman than anyone else. Pete Thorn could make a pot of yoghurt sound like a Strymon.
Would definitely buy one but its $377 in canada
I would hope that most people give an honest review whether a demo is paid for or not, however they will lean towards positives rather than negatives so I watch with skepticism. A lot of RUclips channels constantly try to sell you their "guitar course" , or merchandise, or Patreon memberships during their demo's which gets old in my opinion.
Man, those guitar courses are big money. If I was more talented I’d do it too lol.
@@60CycleHumcast I don't think you need to be talented to teach others how it's done. I personally think I could put a guitar course together, at least for beginners. And there has been a point in my guitar journey, about 3 weeks after I bought my first guitar, that I learned I have much more interest in the guitar itself and way more talent for working on it than playing it. Nevertheless I know stuff. With these courses I think it's way more important how good you are as a teacher than as an actual guitar player.
@@tostrmofo6686 I really have no interest in teaching lol. I’ve been trying to work up the motivation to make a surf guitar tutorial series for years and I just can’t bring myself to do it.
@@60CycleHumcast I totally understand. And when you are not motivated and not having fun doing it the tutorial would not be great probably.
Awesome that its sold out 18 hours after your vid!
It says its still in stock, if you are outside the USA it might not be available where you are.
My bad, I'm in Japan. but still a really cool video!! @@60CycleHumcast
