All those things you say about Kirstin are what I always felt about her. She's always been My favorite and I've always mentioned her as very underrated with so much potential: She has shown flashes of that potential from time to time, but lately it's starting to emerge from her and sounds spectacular now. I think some of those Voctave singers have been working with her vocally. Matt sounds more well rounded too, his bluesy sound has got more richness with a nice tone and has a classic vibe. Pentatonix has stepped up another level with Matt & Kirstin's vocal enhancement adding more versatility. Wow! Nice reaction Brad!

It's called maturity. They were kids when they started out and as they've emerged into adulthood their voices have developed physically with more strength and depth and obviously they have continued to expand their skill set to take advantage of it. Just listen to Mitch's lower range in Amazing Grace as an example. I agree that Kirstie's progression from girl's voice to woman's voice along with her increased self-confidence has probably been the most spectacular but it's evident in all of them. They work hard at their craft while obviously loving what they do and every year shows the fruits of it. I breathe a sigh of contentment each time they drop something new. It shows their potential for many more years of surprises and originality.
Exactly! They were music wonder kids when they started, and now they're masters in their prime. Can't wait to see what they will do with their originals album. I am sure it's going to be brilliant.

He’s a Low Baritone, he can sing even higher than that, his highest recorded belt has been Bb4 and an A4 in Mr Grinch. I believe he also sang an F5 in Falsetto/Head Voice in a live performance of Joyful Joyful.
@@benmartin8082 He plays the role as Bass, but his Voice Type is not Bass. Similar thing with Scott whenever Avi or Matt would sing, he would take over the Bass part but he is NOT a Bass. Matt’s Voice Type is Low Baritone but he plays the Bass role with Ptx because of his wide low range. Hope that makes sense.
@@benmartin8082 I know Geoff, he’s a pretty impressive Baritone/Bass. There aren’t many like him, his control over his range is pretty insane. Actually, I’m glad you brought Geoff into the conversation because he along with Matt are the perfect examples of Baritones that have made great control on their low range while keeping their natural high Baritone range and tone up in the 4th octave. Pretty talented singers.
Ok. I think you interchanged some of the soloists: the thing to remember is that Kirstie has a tremolo, while Mitch does not, which I think makes it easier to figure out which one is singing when. I also hear that slight male vibe in Mitch that, apparently, a lot of people don’t discern. They think he sounds like a woman, but I don’t necessarily agree. He has a beautiful vibrato that he has total control of, meaning he can choose to use it, feather it, or not use it at all. In this case, in my opinion, knowing this sometimes helps to identify one from the other when they are interchanging similar (sometimes the same) parts or solos.This is my take on who’s singing when: Beginning Oohs: Mitch/V1: Mitch/V2: Scott/Bridge: I think Kirstie starts and Mitch finishes./V3: Matt/V4: Mitch (no tremolo)/V5 to end: Kirstie (evidence of tremolo and a ‘female’ vibe). I agree with you about Mitch’s Broadway talent. To me, again I may seem biased because Mitch is my total Fav overall, but I’ve been acting for many years in a Professional Christian theater group and Mitch has the ‘Gift’. He can totally become whomever it is that he’s portraying. Even in their light-hearted riff of Frozen, Mitch was all in, character-wise. He only dropped character when the unexpected ‘snow’ hit him while he was singing his solo. He always impresses me with his ability to ‘morph’ deeply into any character he intends to portray. And it’s because he commits totally to the role, even when it’s all in fun, that he commands the stage no matter what’s going on. He has the stage arrogance of all true thespians and is totally un-self-aware when ‘in character’. I love them all so much, but I’ve only noticed the lack of self-awareness in Mitch, and this is crucial when acting onstage. You are NEVER to break through the “Fourth wall” and you need to be real even when delivering a funny line. When people try too hard to be funny onstage, they usually aren’t because they’re too self-aware that they’re supposed to be funny. Mitch is the only one in the group that is totally successful in lack of personal awareness when acting, making his funny moments really funny because he’s not trying to be funny, he’s just ‘being’ in character, which is the key to being funny or real, on stage. I am convinced that the guy can do anything he puts his mind to. Anything.

I'm wondering if she has been taking voice lessons during quarantine. Most excellent singers take lessons throughout their careers and can easily be done virtually.
