2 people killed in fatal hit-and-run early Sunday morning

Two people were hit and killed in a fatal hit-and-run Sunday morning near Lincoln Avenue and 19th Street. It’s the second fatal hit-and-run in Milwaukee in less than a week.
A family friend identified the two pedestrians as brothers; 39-year-old Maycol Gutiérrez and 41-year-old Ausberto Gutiérrez.
According to Milwaukee Police, the brothers were standing near the driver's side of a parked car when they were struck by a white SUV traveling eastbound on Lincoln Ave.
“We have many accidents at this light and this street. Probably like two or three a week,” Rojelio Gutierrez, who’s lived on the street for eight years, said.
Business owners also shared their concerns. Ramon Gomez was working at Jalisco’s Supermarket on 20th and Lincoln five years ago when a driver ran a red light and slammed into the store.
“A car hit it right here. This right here is all new,” Gomez said, pointing to the new wall. “It was scary. And that’s just one. There’s so many different ones here.”
