I remember when Phil Jackson said that Curry reminded him of Mahmoud and people thought it was a dis but it was really a compliment.
@Next Up you're demented
@Next Up thank you
@Next Up - A few questions:
Do you believe that's because he wasn't good enough?
Did you watch the interview?
Have you seen him play?
@Next Up on the surface looking at the facts it appears to be a diss, but people who really know understand this man was blackballed out the league. Not to say he would've been an all-time great had he not been black-balled but the comparisons are closer than people realize.
@Next Up Mahmoud would have been an all time great if he sucked up to the league but he decided life would be better if he didn’t do that
Mahmoud was my idol in the 90’s…. studied and copied all his moves. He would absolutely dominate today’s game
If they could not stop Mahmoud with hand checking what will he do when no one is allowed to even so much as touch him without getting called for a foul??? He would run wild scoring all over the place!!!!! Lol!!!!!!
Mahmoud is exactly what the Denver Nuggets is missing from guard play today, and he would easily average 25-30 points, respect
Mahmoud is humble, even in his attempt to be candid he is humble. I don't know that we have ever seen a player like Mahoud, he is simply a small guy with a TREMENDOUS shot. The playgrounds as well as the League has seen its fair share of small guards who could score, but I don't know of any smaller guards who could flat-out shoot the ball like Mahmoud could. What he was doing at LSU was simply a crime, but the coaching was HORRIBLE. The LSU squad was Chris Jackson (now Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf), Stanley Roberts and Shaquille O'Neal, that's 3 FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICKS MAN! lol but anyway, shout out to Mahmoud, glad to see he was able to overcome the hatred, evil and satanic industry called Corporate America.
My favorite player of all time.
Would have been something if the Indiana Pacers had been able to pair up Abdul Rauf with Reggie Miller in a back court. They'd have been the original slash bros.
Mahmoud smoother and quicker and shot the ball just as good as Steph.
No
Hey I just wish be could have showcased his talents on this stage today when the 3 ball is the focus of the game.
@@markyamamoto9208 yes.
He’s also more athletic than Curry.
I believe in competed in a slam dunk contest while Curry can barely dunk.
He was quicker and more athletic, but no one can shoot like Steph.
This is so funny. This brother was way better than any one playing today hands down lookat his whole career. High school college professional.
" You waste a second, it's gone." 👍
Could you imagine if him and Dell Curry had play together.
Man! I loved watching you play. It’s a shame you were not able to finish your career the right way, but you’re a HOF to me!
I wish him and curry could meet
They met one time.. I saw one photo of Abdulrauf and steph and a friend of abdulrauf.
They have
Steph is similar, but He wanted to be like his dad!
we all know Abdul Rauf was Stephs real daddy... lol
Point Guards back then didn't average that much points per game. Allen Iverson kind of changed that. it really changed after iverson. If he was playing today he would without a doubt average 20 or more.
You obviously honestly dont know the history of this mans evolution to the game. He averaged 30 plus in college and as a freshman was the best player in college even better than Shaq. Im going to repeat that but shaq was on his team and he was the man as a FRESHMAN !!
He scored 30 plus on mike and scottie. 40 and 50 on jason kid and Stockton he embarrassed a lot of made up stars the media created. He created and made himself !!
@@davidpouncy8471 shut up i collected nothing but cards in the 90s. he didn't do that in the nba. there weren't alot of scoring point guards on a consistent every night basis. thats not how pgs played in the 80s and 90s. allen iverson changed all that.
Ain't Iverson an SG/PG
Man Mahmoud would average a 30 piece today
Mahmoud would score 30 points if he took it easy .... if he played hard (like he always did) he would score a lot more than 30!!!!! Lol!!!!!!!
NO
@@nikoslala2111 whys that? If you put him in this era where more 3's are being taken he'd definitely be capable of putting up those kind of points. Especially at a time like now that there's little to no physicality allowed within defenses. Tell us again how a guy with that kind of shooting ability with a great ability to run fast to get good looks couldn't put up major points today?
Face it, you're just another casual Curry fan boy.
@@dagameplayer First . Its not about Curry. Curry is a much better shooter than anyone ever. Second, Mahmound was a very good and quite ahead of his time. Third, Mahmoud never faced zone defenses and double teams like Curry Harden and other elite guards. Fourth, Mahmoud had a 38-39 % 3pt percentage only in 2 seasons in 4-5 attempts BUT the important thing is that it happened during the line got shorter for the league and all shooters averaged more 3s with highest percentages(check the stats).Fifth, Rauf never averaged more than 19 ppg in those seasons and was never like a top 10-15 player in arguably less skilled era .That being said you can more safely say that Curry harden kyrie or Dame would average 50-60 ppg on Raufs era than saying Rauf would average 30 in todays game. Finally, my fav player is Curry as u guessed but thats not about Curry. There are many players much better than Rauf in todays league and in the 90s too. Mark Price was better Nash was better and both better shooters
@@nikoslala2111 Blah, blah. The point still remains that Mahmoud in fact had the ability to play, so regardless of if its 30 points a game or not, he would make a team and be impactful in the league today.
All your stats shit is just talking about that particular era. So again, if you put him in the era now, tell him he can shoot more 3's then give him time to adjust to todays way of getting more opportunities at taking outside shots guess what? he would do just fine. It's not about being better than this or that guy, but simply that he'd belong in the league right there with anyone you can name. End of story. Bye bye now.
Man if Kurt's do a remix I'm sure you will be in that mix(playing basketball 🏀 I'm playing basketball to the hoop to the hoop).
Chris jackson .....bad man!!!!
They look mad alike too tho
3
chris jackson was definitely a curry back in the day
Mahmoud adul rauf
Show the man the respect he deserves by calling him by his right name!!
Much love and respect for his stance also, he was the Colin Kapernick of his day.
@@jwilGRNB Franz: "His momma named him CJ, Ima call him CJ"
Mahmoud bein very humble he dont want to say he better than curry, I'll say it. He better than curry. Crazy how peeps say he was curry back in the day nah curry is him 2day. That's like sayin a father is like his son.
Your words are Deep and True!
Cap!! Big Cap!! Mahmoud was not better than Steph Curry. You can give him his respect all which he deserves but to flat out lie is crazy.
Exactly say it again he was B4 Curry curry is like him and he was more athletic would catch alley slam dunks during the game. He was a sight to behold!!
@@chrisbranch662 your entitled to your opinion but obviously you dont know his history or story. Do sum research did you ever even see him play. I bet my life you didn't. Probably looked at a couple of youtube videos briefly and made a biased opinion out of ignorance/ lack of knowledge. Like I said this made gave mike and scottie a 30 piece everytime they met. 2 of the best defenders in the game !!
@@davidpouncy8471 ignorance is bliss and just because I disagree with your opinion doesn't mean I don't know his story or watched him play. I have watched MAR since he was a skinny kid named Chris Jackson playing high school ball. Since we are around the same age and I am from Mississippi too...I actually remember his freshman year at LSU. I do not have an issue with saying MAR was Curry before Curry because they are very similar players. My issue is saying he was better than Curry because he was not better than a 2 time league MVP and 3 time champion. Stop cappin.
KURTIS BLOW BASKETBALL 🏀
The Steph curry disrespect is unbelievable. He avg 14 & 3. One year of Steph highlight reel is this man whole career 😂
