Stay in healing mode as long as the Dr's say. I had total removal of my female parts and I was fully healed as six months. I know you are going to want to jump back into the homestead...don't do it. If you do, you could be holding up your recovery for possibly a year. Love your posts.
As a retired police sergeant, I would recommend a security survey for your two farms. Depending on your local law enforcement, these surveys are often free and recommendations are often free or low-cost.

As an example, with a sliding patio door, one should put a "Charlie bar" in the track after it is locked preventing it from being opened even if the lock is jimmied. Another is removing a screw from a door hinge and partially unscrewing the opposing screw from that hinge. Cut the head off of the screw so that that screw would go into the hole on the other side when the door is closed. This way, if the pins are removed from the hinges, the door is still attached and cannot be opened unless the lock is opened. These are but two of many ideas that are either free or inexpensive.
Mind the cow body condition,cows that are over weight, will have problems calving, and with all that grass you could, have problems. And Mrs get well soon.
Good luck with your surgery, I will say prayers for ya. Maybe you can just film a couple of extra little clips to fill in while you recover. One of the other channels I watch has a month of videos ahead and that way she does not have to worry if something comes up. I just love the barn on the new property, I am a barn lover. I love what your doing. The one thing I would recommend is that you bring your cow back just before she calves so that you can keep an eye on her. Have you brought the ducks over yet......??? They are going to LOVE that pond.
You can always count on your 2 daughters to help harvest and process your crops and animals. We don't see them much, but we know they are helping behind the scenes. I too am having privacy issues as I don't like or want my photo publically available.
Wow... hope your animals are safe with you sleeping at the other farm. One thing I distinctly remember about MO when we were there was that hogs were pastured like cattle. A much cleaner environment for the pigs than sloshing around in their own filth like we've always seen pigs raised before in small nasty 'pig pens'. 🐷🐖🐽

I was thinking the new house will allow you more space for food storage for your canning. i had the same idea, it could be a nice start for the kids as they want to spread their wings but might want to stay close or do something simillar to what Sarah and Kevin are doing. In the end it comes to what they want to do.

Praying for you Sarah. I'm sure everything will be fine. I had a hysterectomy about 20 years ago. After a few weeks in the house my husband took me out for a "drive". He thought it would be fun to go 4 wheeling the woods. He has never lived that down. Don't recommend it after any surgery. Take care. God Bless

I had one sweetie, don’t worry. I was in the hospital for like 12 hours. I couldn’t lift anything for 6 weeks, and neither should you, but you’ll be walking around your farms before you know it. God Bless, and sending many prayers up to Our Father.

It's such a shame that people feel like it is ok to cross that line and invite themselves into your life. Come on people, that is so creepy. Living Traditions is a great channel but everyone deserves some privacy! So yucky of you to stalk them!!!
Unfortunately it isn’t uncommon for RUclips vloggers to get death threats, people coming onto their properties, and all sorts of stuff. One family I follow has had the police called on them and had them show up to investigate “bruises” on their baby because people thought her angels kiss was inflicted by her parents. Another family I used to watch had to move and then ended up having to quit vlogging because of threats. There are crazy people out there and you really have to be careful what you show. No full on views of the front of your homes, no slipping your license plates, no house numbers, making sure you keep the county you live in private, etc. It’s easy to find someone because there are government maps that you can type in a name into the county map system and it will pop up your property.
Wishes for a smooth complete recovery. You will be the envy of Dieticians with your knowledge and ability to have available sustainable home grown cooked meals for healing! Your family/husband seem like they have nurse qualities.

A bit of advice, after you are able to get up from your surgery, do it. Get up and move around. Don’t lay there. I had mine two years ago and other women were laying down and moaning, the nurses would tell them to get up and move, also have a small cushion when you sit up, hold it in place, especially when riding in the car on the way home. It's true. I had the surgery at 38 (I'm in my 70s now) and never knew I could feel so good. Don't over do while your healing. It will make recovery quicker in the long run.
You will feel SO much better after healing from your surgery.. It made a world of difference after my robotic hysterectomy. Quicker healing, less invasive. Prayers and speedy recovery!

I had mine at 31 and I am 76 now. When I went to see my doctor to ask her to schedule my surgery as soon as school was out...she said " You will do great! Mentally you are ready now! " So Sarah I think you will do great...and you will feel so much better! God bless you!

I just had a hysterectomy on May 18th. At 62, morbidly obese with high blood pressure and cholesterol, I was having so much trouble with my legs I was so afraid of, not the surgery, but blood clots. I came through the surgery fine and am still doing daily injections to prevent the blood clots. (Only 11 more days to go, Yay!). So I know the anxiousness you must be experiencing. Even typing this the emotions are bubbling up and pouring out of my eyes. I spent many hours after my surgery just repeatedly thanking the Lord for seeing me through. I have no doubt he will do the same for you. And I and I'm sure many of your subscribers will do the same. The hard part will be not doing anything heavy lifting or strenuous for the weeks that follow. It's driving me crazy not to be able to get after the things that need to be done. As active as you are it'll drive you crazy too. At least you have help. I only have my two 7# pups and they'd rather play and eat. Of course they are good about taking naps with Mommy. May the Lord with with you.
I had to smile when you said you might use your second house as a guest house, or as a vacation Get-A-Way! I use my guest room as my vacation Get-A-Way, especially in winter. Its the warmest room in the house, and the bed hardly has ever been used! : )

My Grandpa and Grandma had 2 farms. The "home place" was 40 acres, and that's where they lived. Then they bought 80-acres of prime farmland along the Mississippi River bottom, 30 miles away, which had a 2-bedroom cottage on it. There was no electricity or running water. During planting and harvesting time, my Dad would help Grandpa on the weekends, which meant our family would tag along and stay in the cottage with Grandpa and Grandma. It was so much fun! It was like camping out, but with a gas stove and regular beds. (Us kids got feather beds on the floor.) You and the girls will really enjoy your new place. I'm so happy for you!
Wow! 80 acres seems like so much! Maybe you could organize your own “farmers market” on the property to help pay for a few things. Fabulous opportunity. I wanted to ask Sarah if she misses having the goats. I miss seeing them.
80 acres seems like alot. We have 60, it sounds like a HUGE amount of land but usually each piece of property is unique, not like those leveled commercial farms. We lease out much of our tillable land (20 acres that used to be pasture for our horses) to a couple of young men getting started in farming. There are many wooded acres covered in forest with deep dangerous ravines making it nontillable but a haven for wildlife and foraging. We mow 12+ acres to keep the place looking spiffy and have gardens and an orchard. It is amazing how our property now feels cozy and useful with purpose.When we first moved here 20 years ago it seemed huge and overwhelming. Pastures and hay fields are essential broad spaces that make my heart sing. I hope the very best for Sarah and Kevin on this new venture, it is so exciting.

Sarah, good luck on the surgery. I had it done when I was 40. My 2 daughters also had it done around the same age. We all agree it was the best decision we made! The gynecologist recommended that we don't have the ovaries removed to keep us from going into instant menopause. Everything worked out great. Just enjoy the 6 weeks of taking it easy. You'll make up for it down the road. LOL

Another family I used to watch had to move and then ended up having to quit vlogging because of threats. There are crazy people out there and you really have to be careful what you show. No full on views of the front of your homes, no slipping your license plates, no house numbers, making sure you keep the county you live in private, etc. It’s easy to find someone because there are government maps that you can type in a name into the county map system and it will pop up your property.

A bit of advice, after you are able to get up from your surgery, do it. Get up and move around. Don’t lay there. I had mine two years ago and other women were laying down and moaning, the nurses would tell them to get up and move, also have a small cushion when you sit up, hold it in place, especially when riding in the car on the way home. It's true. I had the surgery at 38 (I'm in my 70s now) and never knew I could feel so good. Don't over do while your healing. It will make recovery quicker in the long run.

I have to add that I am so so sorry people are crossing the line on your privacy issues and I completely understand that you must do whatever it takes to insure your families safty..... I had mine at 31 and I am 76 now. When I went to see my doctor to ask her to schedule my surgery as soon as school was out...she said " You will do great! Mentally you are ready now! "

I just had a hysterectomy on May 18th. At 62, morbidly obese with high blood pressure and cholesterol, I was having so much trouble with my legs I was so afraid of, not the surgery, but blood clots. I came through the surgery fine and am still doing daily injections to prevent the blood clots. (Only 11 more days to go, Yay!). So I know the anxiousness you must be experiencing. Even typing this the emotions are bubbling up and pouring out of my eyes. I spent many hours after my surgery just repeatedly thanking the Lord for seeing me through. I have no doubt he will do the same for you. And I and I'm sure many of your subscribers will do the same. The hard part will be not doing anything heavy lifting or strenuous for the weeks that follow. It's driving me crazy not to be able to get after the things that need to be done. As active as you are it'll drive you crazy too. At least you have help. I only have my two 7# pups and they'd rather play and eat. Of course they are good about taking naps with Mommy. May the Lord with with you.

I had to smile when you said you might use your second house as a guest house, or as a vacation Get-A-Way! I use my guest room as my vacation Get-A-Way, especially in winter. Its the warmest room in the house, and the bed hardly has ever been used! : )

My Grandpa and Grandma had 2 farms. The "home place" was 40 acres, and that's where they lived. Then they bought 80-acres of prime farmland along the Mississippi River bottom, 30 miles away, which had a 2-bedroom cottage on it. There was no electricity or running water. During planting and harvesting time, my Dad would help Grandpa on the weekends, which meant our family would tag along and stay in the cottage with Grandpa and Grandma. It was so much fun! It was like camping out, but with a gas stove and regular beds. (Us kids got feather beds on the floor.) You and the girls will really enjoy your new place. I'm so happy for you!
My grandfather always said "If you dont grow enough food for 5 years." "You will starve next winter."

I wanted to ask Sarah if she misses having the goats. I miss seeing them.
80 acres seems like alot. We have 60, it sounds like a HUGE amount of land but usually each piece of property is unique, not like those leveled commercial farms. We lease out much of our tillable land (20 acres that used to be pasture for our horses) to a couple of young men getting started in farming. There are many wooded acres covered in forest with deep dangerous ravines making it nontillable but a haven for wildlife and foraging. We mow 12+ acres to keep the place looking spiffy and have gardens and an orchard. It is amazing how our property now feels cozy and useful with purpose.When we first moved here 20 years ago it seemed huge and overwhelming. Pastures and hay fields are essential broad spaces that make my heart sing. I hope the very best for Sarah and Kevin on this new venture, it is so exciting.

Sarah, good luck on the surgery. I had it done when I was 40. My 2 daughters also had it done around the same age. We all agree it was the best decision we made! The gynecologist recommended that we don't have the ovaries removed to keep us from going into instant menopause. Everything worked out great. Just enjoy the 6 weeks of taking it easy. You'll make up for it down the road. LOL
