      Glad you liked it and Rosie the big white dog is a staple up at Boulder Hut but sadly is not included with the Arcteryx Cerium LT Jacket.

    I'm looking for a jacket for hiking in the mountains during winter and was originally looking at the Cerium SV. I'm wondering if it's overkill and a Cerium LT might be sufficient - was planning on using it as my sole winter jacket with some layers underneath. Do you think the SV is overkill for what I need - thinking teens (Fahrenheit) or lower temperatures is what I'll be facing in the mountains.

    • @Backcountryskiingcanada
      @Backcountryskiingcanada  3 года назад +1

      Hi Brent.
      It's totally up to you but I would say either the LT or SV might be overkill for strenuous hiking in all but the coldest environments (think -0 F). I wear the LT as a mid-layer alpine skiing on cold days. If I am ski touring, I chuck it in my pack for transitions or lunchtime. I'd recommend a breathable, weatherproof gore-tex shell of some kind and, when it gets really cold or if you are standing around, bring along a Cerium SV or LT. I don't run particularly hot but I find any kind of exertion in a down jacket makes me sweaty.

      @@Backcountryskiingcanada Thanks for the response. I went with a Kappa Hoody which has good reviews for being durable and wind proof as well as nice and warm. I've been so cold up in the mountains in winter that I was looking for the warmest jacket I could find. I do sit and perch at the top of hikes for a good while, so I'm hoping the Kappa will be warm enough when staying still. Up on the summit it could be below 0 or close to it in the winter...

    • @Backcountryskiingcanada
      @Backcountryskiingcanada  5 лет назад +1

      Of course, you can get it wet - it is down so best not to as down loses its insulation properties when wet but to wash it just use a top loading washing machine on delicate cycle like other down jackets.

    i thought this brand was supposed to be stylish? doesn't look like it here, really ill fitting and sloppy

    • @Backcountryskiingcanada
      @Backcountryskiingcanada  5 лет назад

      It is our reviewer who lacks style, not the jacket (which is lovely). Arc’teryx kit is tricky to size. We suggest you try it on before purchasing. Fit is subjective. We love this jacket, and find it neither ill fitting nor sloppy. Maybe check it out for yourself and be the judge?
