    I just showed this to my husband. Thanks for sharing!! We didn't do surgery, I just let the prid drawing salve draw out the infection. I'm hopeful she won't have a relapse!! Thanks for sharing!!

    She did so good and you did too! Bless you both!
    I have not seen this before although I have heard of it and seen it in quail. But i have never seen the huge swollen part! What is the core made of? How does it form and (why, I guess)?
    Great job on the sterilization info as well.

      I don't think there is one specific cause.. most likely opportunistic. I think this came from my ramp. its old and needs to be replaced (on the agenda this coming weekend) probably a splinter that got infected. It's sort of like a boil. only they don't pus like a human would. it develops a hard core. so you soak and get it out. it will heal by secondary intention from the inside out.

    Spa time for the chickens! I didint know what bumblefoof was but it looks uncomfortable! How do they get it?

    • @Larkz0717
      @Larkz0717  Год назад +1

      usually opportunistic. maybe she stepped on something and cut it.. maybe a splinter from a roost or the ramp. but its a staph infection.. so like a boil in a human when they get a wound or puncture..

    Why without the pain relief? 7:57

    • @Larkz0717
      @Larkz0717  Год назад

      some of the pain meds are toxic to chickens.. if its one that has Pramoxine HCl as the painkiller ingredient, and that is ok. I just prefer none.. because you never know how they will react and if its safe otherwise.
