    They definitely need a legit big center so that AD can go back as PF. Edey reminds me of Zubac with how he plays, unathletic big man that is a bit too slow on defense but can score in the paint. Ware at the moment looks like the better pick, but we have to hope other teams don't draft him first

  • @will-zj5gq

      Because the center position is still viewed as the least valuable position in the modern NBA by a majority (not all) of NBA teams. That is why so very few centers have max contracts.

    Bad take, Edey is not about perimeter defense, and Luka would have cooked anyone, he did the same thing to Kawhi and Harden. Rudy's problem is lack of offense; Zach's specialty is offense.
    Zach's gonna be a Wilt Chamberlain - Yao Ming hybrid.
    Did you know, Edey is the first draft prospect since Shaq went #1 overall in 1992 at 7' 1" or taller to post 750+ pts. in a college season. The only other guys to do it: Wilt, Kareem, and David Robinson, all #1 picks, HoFers, and multiple title winners. And Edey's 983 pts in college is 80 points above all those guys, against arguably better defenses.
    Also, Yao was averaging 38 ppg in Chinese league before going #1 in 2002. Another HoFer who probably wins some titles if he stayed healthy.
    So literally we have not seen a player like this in over 10 years since Yao and Shaq retired.
    It's not that Zach isn't ready for the NBA, it's more that the NBA isn't ready for Zach. He's coming into a league full of undersized bigs who are optimized for perimeter defense. He's going to eat all these little league smallball centers for lunch while having 30+ PPG, 15+ RPG, and 3+ BPG easy while fouling out the other team.
    Dude is literally a Yao + Wilt hybrid. Every GM who passes on him will be fired within 3 years, guaranteed.

    Edy is my choice. I don't remember seeing Ware play at all in college but I've followed Edy since his freshman year at Purdue. He improved every year and placed himself in the elitist of elite company in 2023-24, joining Hall of Famers like Oscar Robertson, Jerry Lucas, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Walton, and Ralph Sampson as the only players in college basketball history to win back-to-back Sporting News National Player of the Year awards!!!

    Pick Ware and trade for Nick Richards. Richards is a great defensive player. So for center position, Lakers will have Ware, Nick Richards and Valanciunas or McGee. Addition to power forward position, trade for Robert Williams III and pick DJ Burns. These 2 players are playing for center position but i think they are also best for power forward position at 6'9". My honest opinion only 🙋🏻‍♀️

  • @MrMinty827
    @MrMinty827 4 месяца назад +10

    Well clearly both guys are young, versatile 7-footers, and can both contribute to a contending team. I don't really know much about Edey aside from a few highlights, but he seems fairly limited on the defensive end, aside from being a superior shot blocker, his overall weight and stature makes him a bit more of a liability on that end. However, Kel'el Ware would be a better choice in my opinion because he's much more of a high reward pick, and can space the floor accordingly, and can switch on defense a lot more consistently with impressive quickness. He's also the more multi-faceted scoring big out of the 2, and overall better defender in and out the paint. He's also proven to be a fairly good perimeter scorer, which is another plus that the Lakers can benefit from. Versatility and floor spacing is what the LAL need, and I feel like they should draft him at 17th overall, as well as signing another good bigman like Andre Drummond, maybe even Dwight Howard.

  • @carrastealth

    What happened when Ware defended Edey?
    That said, if another team drafts Edey before 17, Ware would be a great get. I worry about his motor at times as he in some moments in games he has Hachimura syndrome where he gets disengaged and unfocused or uncommitted on defense or offense. But it's not something that can't be worked on. He's definitely a great get if another team takes Edey first.

    JSM actually go watch film of this Ware not box score watching/highlights. Ware has serious motor issues and consistently waxes and wanes on the defensive side of the ball; to an alarming degree I might add. This kid has potential I agree, but he won't be playable for the LeBron tenure.
