This is a fresh look at this and i think you touched onto something. I was a big kid and never had instructions on how to serve so I was able to “get away” with bad technique and its tough to break as an 50 yo trying to finally serve correctly!
Love your message “not making you PERFECT TOMORROW, but making you BETTER TODAY” - brilliant, Steve. Simply SPOT ON!! Thanks for everything, love from Canada - JD
Yeah that was hilarious and as usual understated as a side comment with deadpan delivery - but a good point ! It’s hard to learn the skill way above your head. Reminds me of that scene in Amadeus where Mozart plays from below the piano
As usual your instructions are short, easy to follow and effective. My question: 1) When you go up with edge of the racquet, whether the edge should be pointed to the centre of the ball or to the right of the ball. 2) Could you please clarify about the racquet path between " Scratch your back position" to " its Highest position". Thanks.
Very good explanation.. I'm going to try this and try with the players I coach.. But I'm going to try it first..I bet that's harder than you make it look Thanks
Maybe I finally got lucky and found something, within tennis, that comes natural for me. I do think I serve in this segmented way as you described it Steve. I also have a good friend/fellow competitor who has an amazingly accurate serve that is hard to read, but which is rarely too fast because he swings every part of his arm and racket in unison. In fact, I have pointed it out to my wife on several occasions, telling her to watch how stiff his arm and racket seem when he serves. I have no plans to share this video with him...
Hi, With a different finish this could apply to the slice serve. But no. This is aimed at the pure today service action. Glad your enjoying the channel Please let me know how it goes? www.oneminutetennis.com
From all your videos on the serve this one has worked the best for me. Still needs a lot of work to become more consistent. Thanks

As perfect as ever.. Thank you

Great Instruction, thank you
I love the insights Steve. Good point on where we learn and the Michaelangelo comment had me laughing.

I tuoi suggerimenti sono funzionali
This is the perfect tip for me to start finding the right thought when throwing the arm. Thanks a lot Steve! Manuel
Fascinating Steve, once again, thank you. Gordon
Thanks for this.

Great video! I like how you break the serve into the 2 components. Thanks
Wow. Going to try this. Thank you!

Thanks again! Have 70+ age state tournament and will report how this change helped!
Guys, this works. Tried this on my own and I can get pretty consistent serves now
Love the Michelangelo comment, will try your drill today !!!
Another gem!
It’s just great! Thank you!
Thanks!
Hi Steve does the turn (pronation) originate at the wrist, or in the shoulder?
Do you use the same steps and motion for slice serve?
Fascinating!

Despite your instructions are we talking about slice serve?
Hi,
