    After the first 4 minutes decided not to buy it lol sounded super negative

      Don’t get me wrong, it is a great guitar, it’s just that when I compare it to other PRS guitars it doesn’t seem to be different enough to warrant buying it if you own a Silver Sky SE as an example. On its own, awesome guitar. I am doing a follow up video today because I’ve had a little more experience with it. To me, reviews on RUclips are a starting point for a possible purchase. I’ll always try to get a guitar in my hands before buying! Thanks for watching and please subscribe!

      @Sick_Strings01 I was just pulling your leg and I think your points were fair. I already own a core Silversky and Fiore so your review was well suited for me. I'll probably postpone my purchase or look into the swamp ash special. Thanks

    Informative and honest - I appreciate hearing both positives and negatives because it helps the review sound balanced.

    Nice Review. I agree on the PRS Satin Nitro Necks. It's the best. Try some D'Addario Lemon Oil Cleaner and Conditioner on NF3

      @@JTB-- I would if I still had it! Lol, traded the NF3 and some cash for my PRS CE 24 semi-hollow in Matteo blue. Worth it on every level though I could definitely see myself owning another guitar with the narrow field pickups in it. Thanks for watching!

    • @JTB--
      @JTB-- Месяц назад +1

      @@Sick_Strings01 Nice. I have a CE 24 Semi Hollow with the black satin pattern thin neck and it's great! I also have a PRS S2 Vela Semi Hollow I recently bought and it might be the hidden gem in the entire PRS lineup. It has the Narrowfield pickup in the neck and hotter humbucker in the bridge for some heavier stuff. Great all rounder guitar, and the Pattern Regular neck plays great 👍

    • @Sick_Strings01
      @Sick_Strings01  Месяц назад

      @@JTB-- I own a Vela as well but with the older d-style pickup in the neck. Such a great guitar and unbelievably light. Have you played any core models?

    • @JTB--
      @JTB-- Месяц назад +1

      @@Sick_Strings01 Yeah I love the light weight of the Vela Semi Hollow and it is surprisingly loud unplugged if you want to just noodle on the couch with it. I have a Custom 24 Piezo that I got for a good deal on Reverb. Otherwise I'd be fine staying in the CE24 range. But I wanted a PRS Piezo to use with 2 Amps and to use with an effects processor/modelor where I use both inputs to create some really wild sounds and patches with Reverbs and Delays. It's fun. Like a lot of my guitars and gear the Piezo falls into that category of "I don't need it, But I still WANT IT!!

    The Silver Sky sounded so distorted

    • @Sick_Strings01
      @Sick_Strings01  Месяц назад

      When I shot this video I didn’t realize that the microphone from the camera itself was being used instead of the better quality rode mic. Lesson learned. Also the Silver Sky I own is a refin so the pickup height is a little higher than normal so the volume level is higher too. Thanks for watching!

    Nice review. Was on the fence about this one and you've persuaded me to leave it!
    I had the SE Silversky a while ago but moved it on. Nothing wrong with it, just wasn't "the one" (are they ever?!)
    This doesn't seem like a big enough departure from the SS for me. Probably cool for some folks though.
    You're right about the pickup colour too.
    Wonder if they're testing the water for a SE NF53?

      I had wondered about the NF53 as well. I am going to do a follow up review very soon though. Sitting with it for a little while longer and changing a few recording things has altered my opinion. Stay tuned!

    What is the finish on the silver sky

    • @Sick_Strings01
      @Sick_Strings01  3 месяца назад

      I’m not sure what they call it but I got the guitar from a refinisher on reverb. The shop’s name is Remarkable Refinishing. They had just a few options when I got this one. Excellent job though, I love this guitar and the color!

  • @cmonsterz
    @cmonsterz 3 месяца назад +3

    Quick tip on smoothing out the finish on the back of the neck. Take some simple 20wt basic copy paper. Fold it into a 5” x 5” rectangle. Carefully rub the paper up and down the back of the neck. Do it lightly, be gentle. This will take off high spots in the finish and kind of close off some tiny pours in the wood. If the neck has any overspray on it, this should knock down the “grit”.

    • @Sick_Strings01
      @Sick_Strings01  3 месяца назад +2

      Thanks for the tip! As I’ve sat with it more it’s smoothed out a little more. Great guitar though. I’m going to do a follow up video very soon, maybe even today. Thanks for watching!

    The volume pot. Some players prefer the quick roll off. Either way it's simple to tweak to get your preference. On the finish of the neck. There has to be finish detail relative to price range. The Silver Sky is more expensive, yes?

    • @Sick_Strings01
      @Sick_Strings01  3 месяца назад +2

      The Silver Sky is the exact same price! I believe the neck will smooth out with more wear but it’s definitely different. The electronics in “cheaper” guitars tend to have this problem as one would assume being of lesser quality. That’s where most brands keep the money in their pockets I’ve figured out. Thanks for watching!
