It was a good battle, my vote went for Gene in this round, but the rest of the judges went for Alem. 4-1 vote. I respect their decisions and I knew why Alem won this round. If Gene flipped his routines a little bit up he would've gotten more votes. Alem was straight up battling mode.
+dan brady Hey Dan, I personally liked Gene more on this match but the real reason I came here was I read through all the comments to this post and 99% I couldn't read. People please spell words out and talk like you at least went to school for 3 years. Good comment and Dan and I also felt that was pretty sweet.
Or ... "Casual comfort view" vs. "Technical complex view" ... Guess what is easier to understand and to relate to for the majority of casual people. Thats why Gene is more appealing to more people, but only because Gene is more appealing to the people, doesnt mean that he is a better beatboxer. I mean look at how many people Logan Paul is appealing to... does that mean he is a better RUclipsr than others ?
Nguyen Anh Tuan Tung ... No, i dont think that it is easy. Because it requires lots of creativity to even come up with, but the execution itself is often more easier than a more technical piece. For example lets look at guitarists.... What do you think is more easier to execute?... "Yngwie Malmsteen - Far Beyond The Sun", which has a more technical approach or "Dallton Santos - By the Edge of the Stream" which is more musical oriented ? Both for sure have their difficulties either execution-wise or creative-wise, the thing is just that most people are appealed to more musical pieces with as less technical parts as possible, since it is more understandable for the majority and also connects easier emotional-wise and by that people often value the musical approach more than a technical approach, which is a mistake if you let both of these categories compete with eachother like in these beatbox battles. I mean if i would tell you that Alem was very musical aswell with that particular performance in this beatbox battle, especially in round two, then you would probably disagree with me, cause you dont see the musical part as easy as you do see it with Gene's musical part, which is for the majority more understandable. But to be able to make your music more understandable to the audience doesn't always particularly mean that its skill-wise the better music on every possible level in comparison to a more technical music piece.
Nguyen Anh Tuan Tung ... I dont say that musicality doesnt count skill wise. It requires skill aswell just in other aspects than technicallity. Its just that the majority of people are more appealed by musicality rather than technicality and by that value it more, cause its more understandable. My point is that, when people hear a very technical music piece, they often dont see the musicality in it, even though there is musicality in it aswell. For most "casual" people who just listen to music but never really have performed music themself, which is definitely the majority of the audience, they often do not see the value in complex technicality as a musical part in itself. Because if we break the ice now, then i have to tell you that both performances are musical in this beatbox battle. So saying that its about "Musicality vs. Technicality" is not really true... its more about the "casual audience" vs. the "practiced audience", while the "casual audience" is just the majority, since not so many people really practice music themself.
Bad comments for ZeDe when he became World Champion, bad comments for Skiller when he became World Champion, bad comments for Alem when he became World Champion. Babeli and krNfx seem to get shitstromed by you crying babies as well. In a battle you get points within a lot of categories. Yes, Gene might have performed better in some of those categories but it didn't get him through to the next battle because Alem scored more than him - simple as that. Also being a judge you gotta consider the previous perfomances in the BBBWC as well when giving away points, it is something you do chronological. For example you can't just watch the final saying NapoM should have won without realizing him being repetitve, less creative and having a smaller variety of different output than his opponent Alem during this whole competition. It is not always the one you enjoy most who wins - in the end only the maths on the paper counts for the win. You should try to see things more abstract next time before you start crying again.
You can use the whole "my opinion is more valid than yours because I side with the judges decision" argument if you want, but that still means you disagree with Dharni and Reeps Ones decision. It was 2 to 3 decision overall was it not? Is Dharni and Reeps ones decision less valid because it was the minority decision? No. They also "did the math" and know about the sounds and techniques in beatbox and how to access it. People like me feel Gene and Ball Zee won against Alem, and hate it or not, this is based on an educated perspective on beatbox and backed by two of the judges, so really don't try with the "I know more than you" attitude.
+NigelStrawberry77 OI don't see why you say he is hating on aything. He is saying people are complaining and saying gene should have won, and all he is doing is saying the choice is not only based around how good the song sounds, because there are loads of different cattegories where they also need to score to be able to win.
+F4yz0 ZeDe gets hated because many people believe the second worlds was rigged in ZeDe's favor because of how good of friends he is with Roxorloops (who's one of my personal favorites and a judge). It was also probably, just in general, the worst championship of the four. Skiller got hated on because many people have this fascination with Alem (kinda like the one people have with Reeps One) where they can do no wrong and everything they do is just brilliant and fucking fantastic and they MUST win every battle otherwise it was trash. (And Alem is second favorite beatboxer) but Skiller still beat em. Alem is getting hated on because the people that don't have a fascination with Alem (as mentioned above) think he lost some of the battles (main two I'm seeing are Gene and Ball-Zee) and think he shouldn't have won the championships.
matheus tani I'm not hating man. At the end of the day, not even those who competed care that much, because the afterparties and sense of community is really what mattered for them. I don't really care that much, but i like to argue my points of why i thought Ball Zee was better... just for fun i guess. I like to debate my opinions. I know there are many factors in judging beatbox... and i do believe Ball-Zee favoured those criteria. He had a really good balance of technicality, musicality, tight drops, crowd reaction, good mixture of sounds... I find Alem focussed too much of technicality, than the other aspects, and did the same routine for most of his round. Ball Zee also got better crowd reaction by his second round and there was major hype for him... might be why he got 2 of the judges votes... i'm sure they'll say it was a hard decision, shown by the fact the decision was divided, but i do think Ball Zee clearly won... but meh, it's all personal taste and opinions i suppose...
BEST BATTLE EVER Friendly Battle and one thing... the jigsaw part is so freaking awesome,, especially when the crowd singing along with Gene's Jigsaw :D
Musicality is horribly undervalued in battles. Of course, Alem was exceptional in the categories much more than Gene including technique, crowd reaction, stage presence. I feel Gene very much contested Alem in the musicality, organization and originalty areas. But 2 out of 5 judges is not enough to beat Alem. :(
its not imitating, its kinda like mocking and its pretty obvious when alem said its new for me, implicating that gene uses that routine a couple of times before.
I like this battle because it shows just how mutually supporting and sportsmanlike a good battle can be without all the put downs and insults. Props up to Gene for bringing such a good vibe and Alem for just being himself!
I think Gene's Jigsaw may not be the best thing for a battle, maybe more for an exhibition (just go back to his elimination round for the GBB). Also, I see he used almost exactly the same set of sounds for this battle as for his elimination and best 16. Finally, I consider that the attitude they both mantain in this battle represents a difference. (Don't get me wrong!! Not hating on Gene!! I truly get really inspired on his style and also I think Adam commented in another video that he'd been beatboxing for only about three years or less, and he's already there! I've been beatboxing for the same time and no one knows about me hahaha..) Just enjoy! It's all about that!!! PD: I know my English os not perfect...yet!
How to drop like alem 1st. Say references 2nd. Forcefully expel all the beats you know and drop every shit down. 3rd. Do wild unnecessary movements. = Crowds go wild.
Imo alem is one of the most talented ones...But in this particular championship the only battles that he actually won were against napom and lytos...Long story short, he should not go past 1/4 final
PropertyTrippers In my opinion Napom lost against Shoh. Especially Shoh's second round was really good. Also if you look at Genes rounds over the whole event, you will see that he uses the same patterns, where Alem on the other hand showed in every battle a different one and they were not easy to do aswell. His second round against Gene had definitely also some musicality. And now ? Sometimes opinions differ. And only based on your opinion, which is not a fact, you shouldnt say he only won because of the judges.
I finally understand why alem won. Its because the judging system is based on 5 categories and its not really just based on the overall performance by the person. I think this judging system isn't good and they honestly need to go off the overall performance for a more fair outcome.
I'm sorry but anyone saying Gene won doesn't understand battling. Good first round, great second round. However he recycles fillers and beats way too much... Like his click or popping beats. He was doing more of a showcase than a battle. Alem had the battle mentality, did new material, was crisp and powerful. Gene was clean and musical. Both did great but it's an obvious win for alem. Gene needs a wider range of sounds. He uses his whole arsenal of sounds in every beat. It gets repetitive. Anyways great battle but clearly a win for alem.
Gene has good flow, transition and musicality. While Alem just switches from beat to beat, with no transition or build ups, he's all technicality, not original at all.
What the fuck are you all saying?! Gene exactly did the same beat that had done in the GBBB. If you don't know the things well don't talk please. I agreed with the jury during all the championship, except for B-art. But alem deserved to win.
Exactly. A lot of beatboxers use the same beats in different competitions and sometimes give a twist to it. And it becomes their signature beat when the originality is there. It's normal for beatboxers to use the same beats.
Ghosts Gregster maybe, but they improve their beats and and change them, as alem did this year with his westside beat, the fatality beat, and his get up beat.
I loved the crowd's reaction to Gene's second round, they sang along, holy shit! I forgot to comment this the day after this vid was uploaded so, sorry for the LONG delay...
"It's new for me." -Alem Dang, that sarcasm! XD Yeah, against Alem's technicality, I don't think Gene could win him with Jigsaw. Great performance as usual though, big up Gene! :D
Guys, when Alem said "It's new for me", it was a joke because he was throwing it back to the 2012 BBBWC when he faced Skiller in the finals and said that exact line. That's why Gene laughed and the whole crowd was hyped. Just needed to clear things up for some people.
I really don't understand what's so great about Alem's battle style though. It's a lot of breathing and quiet yelling with some fast beats that are kinda all over the place then when he's got like 10 seconds left he runs out of ideas and does random noises. I'm not hating on Alem, I'm just dropping some positive critique.
Personally, I do like Gene's style more than Alem, but Alem can come out and do so many variations on his techniques, and also, if the opponent does something cool or original, he takes a shot at it (7/8 last year with SkilleR, for example). It's his willingness to try new things, even in competition, that does it for me. Both incredibly talented people.
Unknown But Alem remixed his old routine and also brought in a new routine as well. Gene 's routine, was identical to his usual routine from previous battles and showcases, but it was a good battle, much respect to both.
Gene is not the only one being repetitive, almost all beatboxers do that, first of all. It's that his beats are so clean and unique, it can be easily remembered and distinguished. Whereas with other beatboxers, the simplicity of most of their beats can be easily copied subconsciously and consciously, and it doesn't have that "easy to remember" aspect that Gene has. As a result, the beats are seen as"New" and "exciting" even thought that beat has been repeated many times by the same person and other beatboxers. Last, but not least, Gene has gone extremely popular during the past year, especially is GBBB, and that the videos starring him had the replay button raped meant that everyone had his beats drilled in everyone's head. He may not be the best beatboxer, but he is truly one of the most unique ones.
You people need to chill. They're both amazing beatboxers, and I would have been happy either way if any of them would have won since they were both so amazingly sick. Great battle man, great battle
Lol the hate against Alem is fucking unbelievable, you people are becoming biased against Alem for some reason, chill out and enjoy that sick battle :)
Vic Mack Anyone who wins a major event will always have the more outspoken against them. Since most know Alem already won, they'll say anything against him. Just because the crowd sang with Gene doesn't mean he wins. Not to mention, he did the exact same technique from the GBBB.
ttttttttttttttt515 of course, that's how it works, the current world champion always gets the hate until the next one comes. I actually wrote this theory once under some video here. ZeDe was hated as fuck after becoming the Champion - it was all like "how did he win against Reeps or Vahtang wtf man his shit is just boring Tks". Skiller was really hated too, it went like "he should've lost against Reeps and wtf Alem outperformed him so hard how is he Champion he does only fast beats". Now it's Alems turn. The funniest thing is how everyone was licking Alems balls over how good he is for the last three years. He was the favorite beatboxer for so many people that "my best beatbox alem" (a comment commonly written by pinoys in beatbox groups) is allmost a fucking meme now. But oh well, he wrecked everyone in the tournament, let's just call him out on being unoriginal, boring and doing the same shit every time like we call out every champion. Even through literally every single beat he made had at least new elements and he improved on every aspect that doesn't conflict with his style. Dude I could rant about it for hours I think.
Mylo Kurt Yeah, that battle is definitly debatable. But oh well, it was close enough I guess, I would have voted for Ball-Zee, but I get the Alem arguments in that battle as well. It's not like in the B-Art vs. Alexinho battle where I'd strongly disagree with the decision, just mildly like "oh, I'd vote for Ball-Zee, but a vote for Alem here may be fine too I guess". In the retroperspective it's actually better for every Ball-Zee fan that Alem won that battle. But more on that theory when the video comes out :)
If you weren't there you have no idea and cannot judge it at all. Gene was showcasing and Alem was battling. that's the difference. it's a beatbox battle not a best showcase. Both killed it, but at the top level thats the way it needs to be judged. Gene won the GBBB because it's basically a best showcase comp. Alem is an intense battler that has an amazingly confident stage presence that shows people up. its That simple.
It was a good battle, my vote went for Gene in this round, but the rest of the judges went for Alem. 4-1 vote. I respect their decisions and I knew why Alem won this round. If Gene flipped his routines a little bit up he would've gotten more votes. Alem was straight up battling mode.
But why Alem win against BallZee ?
razor ryze Yeah, Ball-Zee pretty much killed it in that battle!
Alem will hate you I guess if he saw this comment, hehe.
Makes sense you voted for him lol. You two are all about musicality.
si puro favoritismo
Hahaha the crowd singing along with Gene was awesome

I love Gene. Hes so Positive about every battle. even if he knows he lost he is such a nice person Props
yup
I agree gene is so positive in every battle no matter how much they get in his face which makes him one of my favorite beatboxers because of that

Nguyen Anh Tuan Tung ... I dont say that musicality doesnt count skill wise. It requires skill aswell just in other aspects than technicallity. Its just that the majority of people are more appealed by musicality rather than technicality and by that value it more, cause its more understandable. Strat that’s a rebuttal dweeb
its not imitating, its kinda like mocking and its pretty obvious when alem said its new for me, implicating that gene uses that routine a couple of times before.
Gene is really good in composing songs. Listening to Jigsaw made me contemplate in life for a little bit..
What song is sung gene?
Do you contemplate in life even on the drop? I find that pretty hard. Hard like the drop...

i always come back to this video and i till this day think that gene won this battle
Aspen T7 same
One of the best beatbox battles in my opinion...
For me Gene was better...
Teh Stormz gene was shit and did the same in all the battele
Ндlєдсн but alem also did the same beat years ago..
Unknown But Alem remixed his old routine and also brought in a new routine as well. Gene 's routine, was identical to his usual routine from previous battles and showcases, but it was a good battle, much respect to both.
Teh Stormz are you american?
***** I know that, It was very disrespectful of this guy to call Gene "shit"
2020 and this is still a banging battle
いつ見に来てもこのバトルはテンション上がる笑
大好きだなこのバトル
Great battle!
Love them both
In which battle did gene have used the beat drop of 1:37.
2019???
This easily the best battle of the event
1:45 Alem trying to do what Gene does...
and what?
+BasGam Games sorry, didn't mean to put "..." there.
At least he tries
That when you know your stupid😂😂😂 it's called trolling search it up
Its called countering and its partly what makes a good battle
alguien sabe que es lo que dice gene en ingles entiendo casi todo... pero quiero saber cuando canta 3:56
Gene's bass is incredible.
Whats the name of the cover from Gene??
1:27 alem like "whos this kid"
One of the greatest battles
Amazing battle, never get tired of watching... #itsnewforme

wth was alem doing second round trying to mock GENE. He was doing ahaaaaahhhaahahaha and GENE was doin nuuununuuununuunu
Be A Pro lol yeah your right Alem did rekt gene in second round with the drop
Wow, Gene and Alem are both insanely good but for different reasons, they have different styles, both of their techniques are powerful. Sick battle.
After watching this over and over again I can start to see a little bit how Alem won.
ThunderCuber3 yeeess, the more you watch the more info you absorb and then you realise how good he is.
chocjane08 Yeah, at first watch i didnt analyze very carefully at all, but after watching a lot of times i can see why they chose alem on this one.
+ThunderCuber3 Explain y then
Larry I dont know the technicality just seemed right after watching it like a 100 times because i was convinced gene won.
+Larry i h8 u
You people need to chill. They're both amazing beatboxers, and I would have been happy either way if any of them would have won since they were both so amazingly sick. Great battle man, great battle
Lol the hate against Alem is fucking unbelievable, you people are becoming biased against Alem for some reason, chill out and enjoy that sick battle :)
Vic Mack Hey bro :D can you writte me privat i have a quastion thx
Vic Mack Anyone who wins a major event will always have the more outspoken against them. Since most know Alem already won, they'll say anything against him. Just because the crowd sang with Gene doesn't mean he wins. Not to mention, he did the exact same technique from the GBBB.
Vic Mack +1 Dude when you're the best you're exposed to a lot of hate. I think maybe against Ball_Zee that it was maybe a bad decision.
ttttttttttttttt515 of course, that's how it works, the current world champion always gets the hate until the next one comes.
But more on that theory when the video comes out :)
what's the name of the sound at 1:37?
it's a lip oscillation. you tigthen your lips, put pressure and blow air something like that... it creates that chainsaw noise haha
alem be like 1st round just play with him and in second round finish him
GREAT BATTLE ONE OF THE BEST
I think Alem need choreographer... XD
Best battle of 2015 Championship!!!!!!!!!!
Alem literally crushed Gene from out of nowhere in the last round 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥📈
What song gede 3:34 ?
ジャッジの時のAlemはめちゃくちゃノリまくりだけど、バトルになると顔が変わるところが好き
For me they are both very great, but the most important thing is the fair play ( and the maximum respect ) at the end of the video ! ✌
Alem struts around like a crackhead who shat himself xD
can anyone tell me what are the lyrics of the song he's singing ? and thanks :)
めっちゃくちゃいいバトル!!!!
どっちが勝ってもおかしくなかった!!!!!
yabaiiiii‼︎‼︎‼︎‼︎‼︎
one o my fav battles. just sheer joy in this one :)
gene lost wtf -.-
😂😂😂😂😂 alem has got some serious next level bonding with the judges
If you weren't there you have no idea and cannot judge it at all. Gene was showcasing and Alem was battling. that's the difference. it's a beatbox battle not a best showcase. Both killed it, but at the top level thats the way it needs to be judged. Gene won the GBBB because it's basically a best showcase comp. Alem is an intense battler that has an amazingly confident stage presence that shows people up. its That simple.
This battle is muzicalyte vs technique. For me the muzicalyte wins
music ? 3:56
"Alem is a legend" Well no duh. Wouldn't you improve after seeing what true glory is? AKA Gene?
what song name in round 2 when gene singing it ?
Jigsaw
For me Alem won
He won xD
+maiki beatbox b low won
Alem rekt gene in The second round The only defence gene had was laughing so people could think he didnt care But Alem won in My opinion
Come on 2021
