Story 2: I think I've heard this story before, the reason why they emotionally shunned OP at 13 is because the mother suddenly got scared that puberty would make OP dangerous to her daughters and they did it to "protect the girls". Of course OP was never inappropriate with his sisters.

I'm pretty sure that's a different story. In that one the adopted brother wasn't cast into the basement and the sisters never treated him badly. It was the parents that just ignored him. So he left around 19, and it was a few years later when everything came out and the parents admitted their horrible treatment. Similar, but I think they're different.

Why should he go to their wedding, the two people who betrayed him and the parents who hid it, not to mention none of them bothered turning up to OP's wedding that he was so generous to invite them in the first place despite what those four did to him.

if I was op, I'd see it this way, they want me there? I'll go. But they better not give me the microphone for the best man's speech because I'd tell everyone what happened. just make sure you save the messages when they ask me to be there, just in case they later change their minds and say I crashed the wedding with no invitation.

story 1: of course someone would laugh at that the brother and ex betrayed him and the family covered it up "wanting her sons to get along" is an impossibility after such a backstab.
Story 2: OP's sister "never realized how bad he was treated" who the hell does she think she's fooling he was never at dinner and shoved into the basement like an unwelcomed guest never any gifts given to him on special occasions either like it couldn't have been more obvious he was neglected.

One plausable reason might be the person really doesn't have anything deep or more significant than the relations they have in their lives so they will be bent out of shape for superficial reasons like someone even somewhat important being a no show.
They might struggle to move on becuase the superficial has at some point become all or most of what their lives revolve around and they'll choose to stick with what's comfortable and not make any effort in learning alternatives that require deeper understanding.
Or they're just old and stupid idk.

Barley (Hordeum vulgare), a member of the grass family, is a major cereal grain grown in temperate climates globally. It was one of the first cultivated grains, particularly in Eurasia as early as 10,000 years ago.[2] Globally 70% of barley production is used as animal fodder,[3] while 30% as a source of fermentable material for beer and certain distilled beverages, and as a component of various foods. It is used in soups and stews, and in barley bread of various cultures. Barley grains are commonly made into malt in a traditional and ancient method of preparation.
