Though, OP should have informed Ex of Alex’s visit. Eric is the AH, (he seems to have some trust issues that he never addressed) made an assumption and overacted by not talking to OP to clear the air and just filing for divorce, especially when she and Alex were just talking to the couch.
I literally had a similar experience where I once forgot to tell my bf that a friend of mine was coming over to our place to hang out. When he came back from work, he was annoyed but instead of storming out of our apartment and ending our relationship, he later talked to me about his feelings of being not told about my friend’s visit and just wanted to let know whenever I was hanging out with friends at home with some heads-up (he had always done for me). Problem solved right there and never had a problem about it since as we give each other heads-up about any hang-outs with friends every time.
Eric didn’t talk OP and now has to deal with the consequences that he solely ruined his marriage because he refused to communicate rationally.

Agreed. Her husband was probably trying to finish his work early and eager to come home, then saw the wife sitting on a sofa with an unfamiliar man. Happy and laughing with the guy looking at the album...while he was dead tired and wishing her wife to welcome her home. Anybody will feel frustrated in that tired condition. However, the husband should take a few days to cool off and return to the wife to discuss the issue.

This sounds like another story I've heard. The childhood friend was a mutual friend who had come over to deliver wedding invitations. She had a kid with the new husband in that one, and they had to move cause the first husband wouldn't stop sending flowers and showing up. The first husband seemed genuinely delusional and eventually moved to South Korea for business.

The only A is/was "Eric," and the simple truth is that he really took things really past the point of "comfortable" really fast. "David" had a reason to be upset, and the OP is very much in the right of doing what she did and how she handled it. The fact that he so easily assumed she cheated showed that "Eric" wasn't the person he presented to her when they met, and his boundaries crossing behavior after seven years just confirms that. The stalker "Eric" is the real person, who he always was, and that is the problem. "David" and the OP did smart with the extra security measures, and while "Eric" now may have "gotten the message", I hope someone tells the OP what I am saying and think is very much the reality: "Eric" didn't "disappear": he was always the obsessive man who eventually would do what he did. If he had not left. the OP would be telling us about how she escaped "Eric" after seven years of him steadily becoming more obsessive and abusive.
I really pity the next woman that enters any kind of relationship with "Eric"... as she may not get out alive.

Yeah with everything explained in this way, Eric does seem to look like the AH… but I also have to side with Eric with his initial reaction. Everyone seems to only think that insecurities are formed but that’s not and never have been the case. Incase yall forgot, insecurities can be caused also, especially by people who you trust. OP didn’t tell Eric that her ex-boyfriend was coming over, and the way he encountered them definitely had the looks of cheating. Yeah Eric shouldn’t have reacted the way he did but I completely u defeat destined based on how the situation looked when he got home and saw OP and her ex all laughing and sitting close together. This whole thing made Eric insecure about himself and that’s valid, so I put some of the blame on OP for not even informing him that it was her ex. Yall are stupid for thinking it’s his fault for the insecurities but fail to consider that maybe OP’s actions of inviting her ex and not even telling Eric that it was her ex and was caught in a way that someone could see as cheating made him feel insecure about himself. Yall are dumb

She told her husband when her ex-husband contacted her, but didn't tell her ex-husband when an old male friend contacted her. At least she learned her lesson. We can't really blame Eric for jumping to conclusions. Just because they weren't making out at the time, doesn't mean they weren't doing it. I also find it hypocritical that OP desperately tried to call Eric after the misunderstanding to explain her side. But when Eric tried to contact her to try to apologize for his mistake, she shot him down instantly. Eric absolutely turned into a stalker in the end, but OP could have had one single in-person conversation with him before it got to that point. She could have just told her husband she would go to a coffee place with him. A public place where nothing could happen. OP has some communication issues.

But when all this happened she kind of had a right to a chance to explain herself since they were married. He didn’t want to hear her out and they divorced. End of that story.
