Nothing worse than putting dozens if not hundreds of hours into a project and having it pulled down. Good on you for putting in the work to revive this video. Keep up the good work!
Definitely need to get me a copy of this on Blu-ray as well, now you mention it. If there's one thing the last couple years has shown, it's that it's worth investing in physical media.
Would appreciate it if u guys put names of some of the shows u mention as recommendations (like i know ur talking about metropolis but it'd be nice if u put some of the other stuff in the description) keep up the good work lads
As in, shows or films that we bring up over the course of the video? That's actually an interesting idea, my dude. We'll try to start incorporating that, going forwards.
The origonal video encouraged me to watch METROPOLIS. It's incredibly beautiful, I even made the entire movie my wallpaper using wallpaper engine. Thanks for the suggestion.
Hell ye, man, glad you got something out of it. Metropolis is an absolutely gorgeous film: that's one thing that sitting and editing stills from it really drove home for me.
Bought this and Patlabor on a whim way back when there was still a Virgin Megastore in Belfast, enjoyed both, wouldn't mind a review of Patlabor too on this channel. Edit: Ebert liked Royal Space Force/Wings of Honneamise too www.rogerebert.com/reviews/the-wings-of-honneamise-1995

hey dave i know this is two years late but just a quick tip: if you're trying to hide your identifying features you can't forget the tats my man >t. guy that is incredibly easy to identify p.s. i finally watched the movie and i found it difficult to engage with (despite the superlative aesthetics) due to the lack of a compelling narrative and surprisingly sophomoric direction, and im not particularly proud of myself for that or for this blogpost that i've vomited into this comment for some reason
Nah, this is more "Japanese corporations don't understand fair use" than it is "RUclips doing a goof". Their systems are a hell of a lot better than they used to be, but they're as trapped by the current state of copyright law as we are.
Oh boy, I love when anime reviews look like hostage negotiation footage. Keep up the good work!

That line and how you're dressed probably got you on some watchlist.
Mate I'm pretty sure that happened a while ago.
Totally agree on the music, actually are here from looking up the soundtrack on here
Dave trying his hardest to do an IRA impression and warrenting a MI5 investigation speedrun during the intro.

This review is way better than Bennett the sage's as he did nothing but talk bad about it. I love this movie.
Being a fan of Lang's Metropolis, I picked this up on DVD as soon as I saw it. Love the film, and now have it on Blu-ray. Great review.

Stumbled across this movie by accident a few months ago during a pre-exam all-nighter. It’s since become a comfort film for me.

Preemptive comment for when I can watch it in three hours. Sight unseen review:10/10 not enough Patlabor or Robot Carnival, would watch again.
Can confirm, zero Patlabor content in this one.
This was so enjoyable. I would love you to do more anime reviews together.
I'm happy to report we have an entire channel of it
we just never upload

Ebert was absolutely based when it came to anime.
Metropolis is 20 years old today. Can you believe it?
Aged into a classic.

it was mostly for the bit tbh, if someone ever figures out who we are then more fool them
we're fucking boring
I just saw it for $9.99 at target as was debating buying it and your review convinced me to buy it so thanks!
It's had some exposure in the states, I remember Adult Swim playing this decently frequently during the mid-late 2000's.
I need to watch OG metropolis. but after seeing this video, I wonder if the monster pods in nibel reactor in ff7 was inspired by the moloch machine 👀
i really need to to see this now
There is also a bit of the movie Battleship Potemkin; when the unemployed people revolt..
Ya'll should do a video on The Big O. Just sayin'.
Great Video!
10:12 i resonate heavily with this sentiment
idk why, but the negativ part, sounds also positive XD
Algorithm engagement
WHGR is a YouSeeGundam clone 😡
Confirmed.
I have the Columbia Pictures DVD Release
*RUclips what the hell*

Everything you’re describing about this anime just seems like I’d be annoyed by it. Review something actually good like MiA.
Metropolis is actually good, my guy. I wouldn't have sat and re-edited this goddamn thing to re-upload it otherwise.
