CS Ababu Namwamba has handed over the construction of Talanta Sports City at the Jamhuri grounds.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Cabinet Ababu Namwamba has handed over the construction of Talanta Sports City at the Jamhuri grounds, and the renovation of Nyayo, Kasarani and Kipchoge Keino stadiums to the KDF. The move is aimed at enhancing Kenya’s chances of successfully hosting the 2027 AFCON finals after placing a joint bid with Tanzania and Uganda. Namwamba pointed out that the Talanta Sports City Stadium, which will have a capacity of 50,000 will be completed in two years. The CS said after the completion of the stadia, national soccer teams will have adequate training and playing facilities.Sports Principal Secretary Peter Tum reiterated the government’s commitment to promote sports in the country. After the Hand over, Defense Principal secretary Patrick Mariru promised that the construction and renovation of the stadiums will be completed as planned, based on the standards required by FIFA.
