  • Fun people, favorite collections, fabulous selling and fantastic shopping! We get a lot of antique extravaganza variety in this video, where we meet RUclips creators we enjoy, send some really scarce and unique things home with collectors, then take a "rain day" to go shopping for fresh vintage jewelry, old American pottery, antique wonders and even an art deco porthole window!
    The huge Mount Dora, Florida winter Antique Extravaganza is our venue, and lots of folks we enjoy find their way to this giant and centrally located vintage fest. ‪@chaptertwovintageco‬, ‪@vintageandvinyl‬, ‪@SideStreetMarket‬ and other viewers and content creators come to shop my booth...or to show-and-tell about their finds at the rest of the show! It's so much fun sharing this great event with people we enjoy, check out their versions of this show and you'll get a complete feel for how huge and varied the offerings are in this giant antique show and neighboring flea market.
    We talk realized prices on some of the great stuff we're selling (better show it before it leaves for its new homes!), then do a little night shopping in anticipation that we might lose dealers as a squall comes towards us. The next day is truly wet, but I'm packed and ready to shop whoever is left...and wow, are there some deals on rain day! Butterfly wing and bakelite jewelry, nautical collectibles, Civil War bullets explained by an expert and a 250,000,000 year old fossil show us that this show has the potential to turn up anything and everything the collectors' heart could desire.
    We go home with a refilled van, some great new finds, new friends and renewed connections! What a great show...I'm excited there's still the February show left to enjoy this season.

    I am 62 years old and I have a very fond memory of a piece of my grandmother's jewelry. When I was small, I held it and just got lost in it. It was a brooch and I never have been able to find out what it was made from in all these years until I watched this video! It was a painted butterfly wing! I am SO thrilled to know what it was and that they are still available in some form. I lost track of that piece, being the youngest of four girls. Thank you so much for your wonderful knowledge! You have no idea what it means to me to be able to search online for a similar piece!

    I didn't know one could purchase anything like those Keltic pieces for what seems like low prices. I am a little jaded, and would wonder if those pieces really are what he claims (just thinking out loud here). And that two-piece fossil was just SO cool. Other personal favorites of mine weren't so old. The "Yippee" boy sign I would never sell if I owned it. Also, in the middle of the bakelite pins you looked at I saw one of a male drum major wearing his tall black hat. I would've snapped him up. Anyway, this particular video will go down in Antique Nomad history as a top three favorite. I learned so much.

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  Год назад +2

      I really trust those pieces because of their crude hand fashioned nature, the type of material used, the amount and type of oxidation and corrosion, etc. They were things that everyday people would have used in clothing and for covering things and belting them together to be hauled, so I imagine they were rather common in their time...after all, you can get a Roman coin for $35. The fossil was really neat! I do like the two Yippee signs and they are still for sale...that drum major was excellent you are right! I am so glad you thought this was that fun, and I have to say I did too!

    Good evening, George! You had some fantastic sales! There were a couple of those chandeliers that I really liked. I liked that white ware pottery vase next to the Dorothy Draper plates. I used to have several of the white ware vases. The scarab bracelet you got is fantastic. I like pretty much anything ancient Egyptian related. Loved that French inkwell. Those ancient European metal pieces, at the price they were, would've likely all come home with me. I like that sort of thing. Loved that ca. 1890 fish set. I'd really like to have that Art Deco porthole window. I'd do a nautical painting and use it as a frame. I was happy to see you bought it! I liked those old lace bobbins. I have a "The Rose" lead chess set, from England, still in its original box. The pieces are flat and are red and black. To be no bigger than it is, it is definitely a heavy set. Was that a mermaid figurehead there with the advertising signs? That looked to be a fantastic show and sale! Too bad it got rained out. Thanks for showing us about!!!

    What is a toga pin??? It is called a: fibula.
    You do have great market's in America. But why outside? It is a shame of the rain. We do not have such great stuff here in the Netherlands. Most of it is junk. But we do have two times a year a great big event for collectors. From antique to toys. You would love it. Great video again.

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  Год назад +1

      A Fibula, thank you for the correct term! We have a lot of indoor markets as well in the USA, which are preferable in terms of protecting the merchandise and the types of things you can sell. However, the outdoor shows allow a large assortment of dealers easy access to sell larger items
