Haven’t finished the whole video yet but I’m so tired of being looked down upon or judged because I was an Architecture Major before discovering Vet Med. Most people love to hear the story of growing up wanting to be a veterinarian, and even some people I’ve spoken to who work in the field, when I tell them my background, I notice them shut off almost immediately - like I can’t go back in time?! But thank you so much for sharing your story!
@@Ninabookah I can relate, definitely didn’t grow up wanting to be a vet but found my way here regardless! Good luck to you on your journey, I think there’s definitely something to be said for choosing this path even if it wasn’t your original plan!
hi!! not sure if you’ll see this but i get so worked up about my GPA.. i’m on track to graduate with a 3.6-3.7 with an Honors in Biology. i’m also getting experience in research, have worked over 2 years in the veterinary clinic, am the VP of our college’s biology club and plan on doing internships with a local zoo and farm. I know I have diverse experiences but my GPA feels so low compared to others applying
Hey! I definitely understand where you’re coming from. I think that in recent years some schools have gone towards a more holistic application review so hopefully all of your other activities and experiences will help balance things out! I’m sure that’s a frustrating spot to be in but it sounds like you’re doing everything you can to prepare yourself and I think that having all of that hands on experience is soooo valuable. GPA isn’t everything after all. Also, I’m pretty sure that there are people with GPAs even lower than yours that were able to get into vet school.
Interesting that you were a psych major cause in HS I was considering psychology before a teacher had me do a shadowing opportunity with our zoo’s veterinary department and I changed paths towards vet med.
Yes! I absolutely fell in love with KState after my interview and I’ve loved being here every moment since (: Good luck, it’d be awesome to have you here!!
Hello again Cheyenne, for your vet experience, did you you work as a vet tech, vet assistant, or as something else? If you did, did you go through a certification program? I’m wondering how I would step foot into working at a vet clinic. I appreciate your advice 😊
Hi!! I got a question, I’m planning to go to the army after high school then after doing college in the army I would like to join vet school. Since military college is not as prestigious as other ones.Does the type of college you went to matter even if all the requirements and experience and grades are good?
@@weiv6229 yeah it’s definitely different for everyone! But I feel like as long as you get good quality experience where you can and have a strong app otherwise then the diversity of experience probably won’t matter too too much depending on where you apply

This was literally sooooo helpful. Thank you!

Oh wow, that’s interesting! Yeah psychology just wasn’t for me so I’m really thankful that I found a love for vet med
I love K State. They have interacted with prospect students sooo well, and I love what they offer. I'm hoping to get plucked off the waitlist. lol

Wow! thank you so much for all this information you have no idea.
Of course! I hope you found it helpful ☺️

Hey! I personally worked as a vet assistant in each of my jobs. I never went through any certification process for that role
@@CheyenneBrowncmyb Thank you for your quick response!
What happen to the schools you were interviewed at?

Wait omg so you had no like large animal, wildlife or exotic animal experience???
Nope, I only had small animal experience! I believe a few of my classmates only had experience (or had most of their experience) in one area as well
@@CheyenneBrowncmyb woahh that’s good to hear cuz I’ve been stressing about only having vet experience but not much of other experience 😅😅😅
