The Hyperion turns into an epic joycon when you add in Kontrolfreaks and other joystick grips. I used some generic brand I got from Walmart years ago. I don't recall if they were for my PS4 or my Xbox trollers, but these fit the Hyperion perfectly, their concave shape makes them super comfy and precise. Also, if you add precision rings to the right joystick the Hyperions turn into an FPS troller for the gods! Really awesome product. I'm extremely happy with it. Remember these accessories if you get them!
I was considering the Nyxi controllers but with Mobapad releasing M6 HD joycons with HD Rumble, Hall Effect sticks and mechanical switches, I feel like those will be end game Joy cons.
@@paradox8038, well, it's literally optional and a pro controller that already adds a lot to the table. You should check the price difference before jumping to conclusions, besides that having a cheaper option for someone who uses handheld mode more often seems like a good option for me

On the right joystick, it’s almost right underneath the B button it should be between the Y and B it’s OK when you have it attached to the switch but the pro controller is still better The other controller you showed has the joystick between y and b buttons much better
Just got mine and I have to say nobody mentioned how cheap this thing feels. It feels like it came from 5 Below. The edges of the sticks are really sharp too. I should have gone with the 8bitdo.
I haven't used an 8BitDo controller for the Switch, but everyone is different I guess. I actually really liked this controller a lot. It reminds me of the RetroBit controllers as far as feel and plastic. You don't want the plastic to be too robust and heavy. Remember, this is for a handheld console. I think NYXI did a great job with the design of it tbh.
I got these last month and wished I knew about it before getting the Nitro Deck earlier (both GameCube colors lol). The Nitro Deck is alright but for the price and functionality these are the better buy. Nitro Deck also has some issues when not using the official Switch AC Adapter to charge like Powerbanks have trouble with it. Hyperion Pros have the better ergonomics, using them with the bridge is a neat addition and is comfortable enough I don’t have to use my 8Bitdo Ultimate Controller all the time. I know people complain about the stiff D-Pad but it’s very close to the original fat DS’s to me and about the same size. The analogue stick tops also have the same look and shape as the Steam Deck but bigger and the metal shaft is smart to reduce the grinding plastic over time. Triggers feel like the Pro Controller which is good since the Switch has digital triggers.
A lot of people are saying the Nitro Deck is no good, especially when compared to other alternatives like this one. It's kinda crazy to think that back in the PS2/Xbox days, most third party controllers were just trash. Now they're actually pretty damn good! Also, thanks for subscribing!
@@travisbowmanmusic Yeah the Nitro Deck is all hype and marketing. I just thought about that for 3rd parties also lol. They definitely have caught up and actually rival in features and value to the 1st parties. Also since then I did pickup the Mobapad M6 HD and now they’ve become my go to. The mechanical buttons and D-Pad make it hard to go with anything else. I use the Nyxi’s connecting bridge piece on them. You should check those out! The Nyxi does have the slightly bigger size and full sized buttons/sticks but the Mobapad is quality all around. As for a separate Pro controller I’ve been using the 8bitdo Ultimate Bluetooth for Switch/PC but I ordered a Gulikit KK3 Max and can’t wait for that to come in.
Have you reached out to NYXI about that? They're actually pretty nice people, I'm sure they'll get you taken care of if it's a defect from the factory.
So hows the battery life? Is it 10 - 15 hours on a single charge or less? I've been trying to find an answer to that question. I assume with the LED lights on the battery life will be less but idk. I'm comparing this to the 8Bit Ultimate Controller and I'm not sure which to buy 🤔
Honestly I haven't tested the battery life for that long. Realistically I'll be playing the Switch for 3 hours at a time max, and this controller has had no issues at that length of gameplay. I left this controller on for quite a long time while shooting this video, and I had to come back and do a few reshoots throughout the day. The controller never died on me.
How are the triggers? Are they one-click like the official switch joycons and pro controller? And how’s the Hyperion as a whole hold up for shooters or anything that utilizes the right stick a lot for camera control or the like? I’m looking to replace my HORI pads and tried out the Nitro Deck, but that was a disappointment to me because of the right stick placement and the analog triggers that felt so mushy. I prefer a responsive clicking that gives me the sensation of “yup, I DEFINITELY pressed that button.”
I played a bit of Doom and Skyrim with these, and they're great. These triggers aren't so mushy at all. Honestly, it feels like I'm playing with an Xbox styled controller.
Yeah, I wish they would have chosen to do that on this model. The GameCube style controller that I mentioned in the video seems to have a center piece that actually DOES have the charging port on it. But all in all, I don't really play the Switch so much at once that the controller battery dies. I just charge them on the Switch dock and have had no problems.
@@travisbowmanmusic I used to do that too (mostly play with joycons in thr holder that comes with thr system) But my switch is less accessible since we moved furniture.
I haven't tested gyro accuracy on these controllers. I know it's blasphemy, but those types of controls just never interested me. The Wii kind of ruined it for me, LOL
My main question is the the right joystick is it in a more natural position like on a Xbox or Nintendo pro controller? Because on the standard Nintendo joy cons the right joystick was in a very unatural and uncomfortable position to be able to use it.
I have the regular version of these controllers and can confirm they are in the perfect spots. They remind me of an Xbox controller. Either if you play handheld or docked, these will feel great
