So, after the shot, I think you can hear Randy’s heartbeat. I’m listening on my earbuds.

Absolutely! Those lav mics will pick up heartbeats. The heartbeats can get pretty intense, especially when the guys aren’t wearing too many layers. Good ears and thanks for the comment! - Blake

As painful as it was for you to re-live the bear shot, thanks for sharing the reality check. We've all been in that gut-punch situation. You're far more experienced than most in both hunting, shooting, and tracking. If it can happen to you, all the rest of us should take notice and learn from it. Thanks for sharing.

Another great video story. I really liked how Randy talked about how he met Jace, I'm not sure if he's done that with the others but I like the backstory. The connection between Randy, Jace and Kyler really came through. Randy and Jace on hunting, Randy and Kyler on equipment and money. Randy's post-shot/search interview was also great, his emotions came through. Excellent job, it really felt like behind the scenes. P.S. I'm usually the guy losing stuff on a trip so I know how Kyler feels.

Randy my friend, do 't beat yourself up. Anyone of us who are ethical hunters have at one time or another
messed up what we "ABSOLUTELY KNEW" that it was a shot you could almost make with your eyes closed!
Then "poof" you or me, or anyone else has just pulled the trigger, & you have just wounded your animal & it has run off, & you've spent hours tracking it & no matter how hard & how long you have tracked that animal, it has escaped you. My friend, my mentor, You Sir are an ethical & professional hunter. You did your level best to retreive your animal. So again Randy, don't beat yourself up, S**t Happens to the best of us!!!.... Sincerely, the old Livingston,Montana cowboy,& student of your hunting style & Ethics,
    Frank Scherping😢❤😊

Keep your head up Randy! Bears are so tough! You’re still one of the most consistent hunters and caring people for the animals u chase it sucks for the loss but as hunters we always learn from our mistakes!

Sorry to see your trip had its challenges, but that is truly how hunting trips go. Often, there is some hardship you need to overcome, but the end result is always worth the adventure you can chalk up to life experiences. Hopefully the next hunt goes better, but nice to see it's what like is like for everyone else too.

Tough luck. Happens to all of us from time to time. Did you check to make sure your suppressor was on tight? I was pig hunting with my brother this spring and he shot under a pig at 100 yards. We checked his zero after, and sure enough, it was shooting about 6 inches low. We noticed the suppressor was just a little loose, so we tightened it, and that fixed the problem. It was amazing how far off it was from being a half a turn loose.

Thats the reason i woud never shoot over a monopod, youve hiked, youre stressed, youre excited because youve been waiting for that opportunity, thats when you fuckup with monopods. I did not fuckup back then, but i noticed its not an ethicall shot since i have to wait till my crosshair wiggles in.
Since then ive been using a 4 Point Bipod, didnt miss a shot over that thing since then! And i can shoot up to 250 yards standig with that thing, would never go back to a monopod!
I did miss shots and its the most frustrating thing in hunting, so you gotta do everything you can to avoid that, so buy yourself one and get used to it.
I like your Videos, keep up the good work

      A 4-point bipod? As in a bipod with antlers, or a quad-pod?
68 yds is a chip shot, especially off a backpack or monopod. Suggesting a quad-pod is silly for a shot like that.

Sucks you lost the blood trail. My father in law taught me to carry flagging ribbon in my hunting pack and mark each time you find blood and you can look back and see the way the animal was traveling and can point you to the way it may have gone. Then once you find the animal you just remove the ribbon as you walk out.

Anyone who's hunted for 20, 30, 40 years has probably lost animals they weren't even aware of. Personally I have recovered 2 bucks after extensive searches where there was NO, ZERO sign from a hit, just my instinct. Having a set of mid-height shooting sticks would be good for a situation like that, leave the noisy pack behind. The rubber bands alone were worth $ 40 on that metal detector.
