I have Hobby Lobby’s all around me and Michael’s. I live in both stores, lol! They have a 50 percent off sale on all of their Masters Touch products once every three weeks or so, that’s a great time to shop there!
very good tips bro, but just some notes coming from the fan and viewer part of me: 1) it would be really helpful if you edited and organized the video some. by that I mean have just a color penciled section, or just a marker section etc cause you bounced around a lot and made it hard to follow. 2) You should make an "essentials" video, because it seems your audience is mostly those just starting out (like myself) who are trying to determine what to buy and the order to it in and you kind of just recommended everything 😅. perhaps make a "top 5 things a new artist should invest in" video where you are a bit more definitive? loved the video though, keep making good content!
Link? That would be something I'm unaware of. The prisma colors with the 40% discount they have really helps out. I have trouble looking for cheaper locations.
I get a lot of my sketchbooks from Micheal's. Since it doesn't matter which art/craft/almost any store you get it from using sales and coupons to your advantage is the smartest way to go. Almost all the time Canson will have lots of sales on sketchbooks. I have so many mix media sketchbooks.
Thank you for this video. I haven't finished it yet but Hobby Lobby has a coupon every week for 40% off one item and occasionally 50%. Often, they have a 20% of entire purchase. The brush sets you looked at were on sell for 30% off. I love them because they have 30-50% off different items every week. I will choose them over Michael's unless there is something they don't carry.
You can get cheap white out pens at the dollar store. They work great and last a long time. And you get 2 for a dollar. 50 cents per pen. Good deal there
This helped me so much!. Im 11 years old girl.. and i love drawing so much and i love drawing videos and more! Sad thing is that .. where i live here is not that sketch books and pencil and markers and more.. But that video helped me !! THANK YOU FOR THAT! Im bad at english
Awe. Don't feel bad. You can buy all these things & far better stuff on line. Also, you have more of an opportunity to see other brands, talk to more people & shop the best price. Ebay & Amazon have endless options & some dirt cheap. Just pay attention to shipping charges. May want to think about trying out PRIME on Amazon for a month to possibly reduce shipping $$. Also, cgeck out the real art stores on line not craft stores like hobby lobby.
also please check the Michael's and Hobby Lobby's clearance area and the clearance stuff is usually open stuff like a pack of markers and if one marker is marked as $3.00 and the other is marked as $2.00 ..talk to the manager most times they will sell both @ $2.00 there was some Winsor and Newton Pigment Markers going for $1.72 and some for $3.24 in the clearance area after talking to the manger got all 6 markers @ 1.72 ..which usually sell for $5-$8 each!!! win with patient and coupons!!
I have 5 Michaels' and 4 Hobby Lobbys' in my area with in 20 mins or less or driving time and none have white gelly roll pens ...had to go to a Dick Blick store to get a white gelly roll pen which is 3-5 mns away from my job which depends on traffic because sometimes it's 3 mins..away
The actual paper I use it with Walmart it’s a pen plus gear paper but it’s a jet ink paper I feel like that paper 📝 works really good for color pencils and for markers
That paint section and the area with the pencils you’re looking through both have a 30% off sign on it. BAM. Instant savings. Gotta ride the % off sales. Goes up to like 60, I believe. I still never walk out of hobby lobby paying anything under 150. It’s a dysfunction. Dollar store though has the bottles and pallets for less. The cheap brushes are sometimes a lot better, I’ve found. Like, even crayola has some really profoundly soft brushes that paint and clean well, lol. The pencils are way way cheaper on Amazon. Also they often have discounts for the biggest pencil set I saw them the other day for 90 bucks. Which sucks… I just got mine full price.
The best tip I have for artists buying art supplies is to NOT SHOP AT places like Michaels or A.C Moores. (Have never been to Hobby Lobby but I assume they're the same) They overprice certain materials (like some high end sets of coloured pencils are 100$ more in store than they are anywhere else.) Also use coupons. Of course, I've also had instances where even with a coupon, the item I was trying to buy was more expensive than anywhere online. (Recently purchased a set of Ph. Martin liquid watercolours from Michaels. 45$ after a 50% coupon AND a 15$ giftcard I got as a gift. They're 48$ at Dickblick as of typing this. Without the giftcard they would have been 60$ and I would have never bought them. ) These types of craft stores are for emergency supplies (like if you run out of a sketchbook or pen) but really nothing else.
Good info but your moving camera going up and down like waves on the sea made me sea sick. After awhile I had to just listen. Finely just left. Sorry, because I really wanted to know the information.
Juan Gonzalez he said u can still make good art without expensive brushes he never said bad brushes some expensive brushes aren't even good and all hrs trying to say is on a budget
I’m failing my art class so my moms telling me to watch videos to know what to get to be able to improve my art skills lol. I enjoy painting and drawing in general but my art teacher is very harsh (btw I’m in grade 7 in case you were wondering) We are going to hobby lobby later today or tomorrow. Thanks for the video btw!
Since the ownership of of the company changed, the quality the Prismacolors has changed for the worse....easily break...quality control no longer good.....
Hobby Lobby has denied employment to folks who they have identified as gay and this was upheld in court with Hobby Lobby declaring they are a family owned company with religious rules that forbid them from supporting gay folks. I take my business to other sellers on Amazon. If you think this is false, I mean it sounds impossible right? Google the issues of Hobby Lobby and hiring gay folks.
You are very miss leading. You have to tell us that you have to look foe the brushes for the kind of or type of medium you wont to use the brush for Water color-Acrylic- Oils . not all brushes can be used for every medium. The brushes can make or break a painting. You wont to get the best brushes you can buy and the best paint as well.
Criticizing something you took completely out context. And how would one achieve going to a store and purchasing used art mediums? But of course, with failed listening skills, you’re the expert 🙄 And you managed to get three idiots to agree with you. 😆
MY DAD LEGIT IS TAKING ME NOW WE WATCHED THIS 21 MINUTE VIDEO TOGETHER LOL NOW IM GETTING SOME MORE ART SUPPLIES
So awesome! Update on what you were able to get?
Ur lucky
Khalida Parween Me too Bc I am going too :)))
Hehe I'm jealous
I would die to walk in that store for 1 hour. I live in the Netherlands and we don't have a hobby lobby or michaels...
lot draws it’s not that exciting I work there I find all the best deals at smaller craft shop
None in India too
I love hobby lobby could spend all day in there. Micheal closed by me now hobby lobby is my only art store now. Have no local ones either near me.
It has a specific smell, like any craft store, but its different, like it just smells like "Hobby Lobby."

DakotaAve (ART) true
These tips are noted!
Thank you.
Giovannie Licea Can you please make a video at Michaels?
Giovannie Licea please do a video like this at Michael's or target
I usually buy my colored pencil sets on Amazon. They're cheaper.
44IceStar Yeah,I got the 100+ pack (I think it's 132) for about 40$
Link? That would be something I'm unaware of. The prisma colors with the 40% discount they have really helps out. I have trouble looking for cheaper locations.
I would have gotten the faber castles. Prisma does not have very good quality. 3/4 of my prisma's are not centered very well.
brushes are more important than palettes, brush washers, and water bottles. paper plates, cups, and a 99 cent bottle work sometimes even better.

OMG im going tmrw and im so excited!!!!!! i have 75 dollars!! my moms taking me omg i cant wait!
What did you get?
The actual paper I use it with Walmart it’s a pen plus gear paper but it’s a jet ink paper I feel like that paper 📝 works really good for color pencils and for markers
Love using the white gel pens on toned paper the color just pops.

It helps to use Hobby Lobby coupon when signed up on their website.
Go to michaels please in two weeks im going there and spending 40 dollars so please go idk what to get
phanicing crybabies fandoms lol It depends what kind of artist you are! Do you use charcoal, color pencils, acryllic paint, watercolors, markers, etc?

Whoa! I had to watch this twice!
Where it is located?
For painting portraits I like to use makeup because it covers well and is inexpensive at target or a drug store.
AdeptAgate They usually put more pigment in make up. You can make your own paints. Lindseed oil + pigment = oil paint.
I could LIVE in hobby lobby lol
My dad brought. Me a 50 set of colored pencil's for 25 dollar I use a sparpie pen with it a school pencil too that my supplies
That's all? Gurl, i need the whole Amazon art section, Hobby Lobby and Michaels store to be satisfied. 😂
yes I like that store but I don't have in my tonw I micheal's
Good info but your moving camera going up and down like waves on the sea made me sea sick. After awhile I had to just listen. Finely just left. Sorry, because I really wanted to know the information.
I got 150 set prisma on Amazon 105.00
Lynn Galvan it's now 75$
The problem with cheap brushes is they shed like crazy!
oh dang that's my limit too
You can get the 12 pack prismacolor for $15 at Walmart :/
I hate when creators put ad breaks in the middle of their videos..if it's a long video, ok fine put one in there but this one has 4...
My advice would be: get a pencil, any pencil, and an eraser, any eraser. Then buy some printer paper, the cheapest brand will do, and go nuts.
What hobby lobby is that at?
SYLBUSHCRAFT ___ Ahwatukee Arizona
me gusta hobby lobby puedo durar todo el dia ahi jajaja Gracias por tus recomendaciones. sludos esperamos nuevo videos gracias
you have the best advice and the best recommendations however the quality of video is bad
So jealous of your shops.
The Copics made me want to go to Hobby Lobby LOL
we go to the same hobby lobby
saying brushes dont mattes is like saying level 1 paint is the same as level 3 paint. Dont mislead people with your influence. know your facts man.
Juan Gonzalez he said u can still make good art without expensive brushes he never said bad brushes some expensive brushes aren't even good and all hrs trying to say is on a budget

Potato Barrels MS CHRISTIANSON
Potato Barrels MS BALCAR
Potato Barrels thw supplies will not make you better trust me
This was really helpful. For a beginner artist, art stores can get kinda overwhelming.
Hi
Coool
Since the ownership of of the company changed, the quality the Prismacolors has changed for the worse....easily break...quality control no longer good.....

This is absolutely terrible advice. Never "invest" in a completely new material because you might not even like it
