Any idea where to get the pivot screws for these clarinets? I recently squired one that has a few of the screws broken, I suspect from not removing the locking screw.
Those screws can be made without too much difficulty or you can check with your local repair shop to buy them. If you found a similar clarinet that is junk/for parts, you could use them.
Is the die you are using a BA thread ? And is the size an imperial 1/64th of an inch die.? I am a little confused. Thanks for any help you can give me.
The "1" is the diameter of the screw and the "64" is 64 threads per inch. I am not sure about BA or imperial. Here is the link to where you can get one of the dies: ferreestoolsinc.com The order number is D210-1-64 You may also be able to get one at your local hardware store.
If you do not have a 1-64 die and the skill to use it, you can buy 1-64 screws. Then you just need to cut off the screw to the desired length and cut a slot in the head. You can buy a box of 100 1/2" screws from Grainger for 12 bucks: www.grainger.com/product/FABORY-Button-29DL49
You can buy them from ferrees tool under the name Conn Set Screws. Or you can search the number C47.

Thanks Art for your quick response.
I understand now.
Great!
couldn't you buy screws with the right thread and sawing off the length needed for the locking screw, after which you just saw a little slot in it?
Yes, you can do that too. Some hinge rods have 1-64 threads, so you can use the threaded portion of the hinge rod if it has the correct threading.
